I was just trying to find the specific address of this place and was shocked by the recent review of the Cornerstone RV park - this place is awesome. I just moved here and have been here a week. Peaceful... Serene... Secluded... I wake up every morning to the sounds of native birds. the proximity to civilization is a major blessing and curse. The pool, laundry, bathrooms, showers, playgrounds, volleyball courts, picnic grounds, small stage, and hiking/mt biking trails are all totally functional, so disregard the last couple posts about that stuff. The road in has a lot of potholes but will only damage your vehicle if you don't know how to drive or if you drive a low-rider, so disregard those comments also... This place is a gem!

actually, on a better and slightly selfish thought, please listen to all the negative postings, because i deeply enjoy the fact that there is hardly anyone here!!!

I am a full time RVr... with an income that would allow me to live anywhere in SOCAL - even in a very nice home and neighborhood (which means just about anywhere else in this wonderful country too). What park mgt don't get - and don't have the capacity to get... is that I choose to live this way. I am not a vagrant. I am not a current or past criminal. I am educated. I am a contributor to the arts and to our culture in general. Yet, I was treated with suspicion - period. So what brought me here? Seclusion. No sound of traffic. Wilderness. Wildlife. Would I brave the awful road into and out of the park facing oncoming semi trucks and bangs to the undercarriage? Yes - if I felt welcome. I wasn't, therefore I'm not. Simple. Lesson learned.

This entire area should be closed to the public. Dulac el.al are trying a venture, Catholic retreat, and will lead parishioners to a country nightmare unless someone stops him. Irvine Co. where are you NOW?
He seems to be a horrible business man. Can anyone contact Andrew Edwards (the real owner) and get Dulac out of there before he AGAIN sets the entire area ablaze (Oct. 1997?)
This most resent fire was LAST WEEK.

But it is hard. 6/5/08 comment is a joke. I am an intelligent person. Why would you post a low star rating when you think the place is fantastic; only so you can post reviews with the negative comments. That makes no sense at all. My retired husband and I travel ALOT and stay at many different parks. I would not recommend this to anyone. We don't have kids at home anymore, so I don't know about the playground facilities. I will say the view is nice, but if you park on the cliff overhang (whatever they call it) - you will be pleased to find the strong scent of sewer. So much I gagged when I walked out.

The price is expensive and the road to get their will definately damage a car.

We belong to many different travel clubs and they will be getting the word out on this.

I am happy that the one person of 6/5 found the facilities so wonderful. So if you are up to a challenge and want to pay too much money - go for it! Geez

Upon my recent annual visit of 6/9/08 to Black Star RV Park -aka- CORNERSTONE RV & PICNIC PARK, I find this park is EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING at best! The park itself is located at 27912 Baker Canyon Road, Silverado CA 92676, not the address noted here at the insiderpages.

Anonymous 6/5/08 COULD NOT have stayed at Black Star because there is NO SUCH PLACE ANY LONGER.

I notice the last review notes:
~~"My family and I put this place at the top of our list!"
& how can restroom facilities riddled w/ BLACK MOLD, along with a non functioning laundry facility, closed pool & clubhouse/rec room be ~~"a much cleaner and healthier place to stay"?????

If this is the top of your list, you have very LOW expectations for your RV'ing experience, not to mention that I'm curious how your family got to use the restroom since the doors are frequently taped shut & notes are posted that the restrooms are not for resident use, along with the BLACK MOLD that's in the showers. Then there's the laundry facility that doesn't operate properly & the building that houses it has a moldy rotten roof just outside the door along the porch as you enter. The pool has been closed every time I've visited (annually for several years now) You could once use the Clubhouse and pool, now both are closed and unsafe.
THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO HERE! Your KIDS would drive you NUTS from their TOTAL BOREDOM, unless dodging RATTLE SNAKES is a new form of entertainment, & I almost forgot the HERDS OF TICKS that are abundant in the gravel around the clubhouse/laundry facility & in the childrens play area swing and jungle gym area located behind the same facility.

The park is not being cleaned up as noted in the previous review & is nearly vacant, with the exception of a handful of trashy unregistered vehicles that the park management has moved into the park to give the appearance of it being in use as an actual RV Park. There are a handful of legitimate RV residents that actually use the park, the rest is a sham.
I STRESS AGAIN there are ABSOLUTELY NO AMENITIES. In addition, the road that leads into the park has VERY DANGEROUS POT HOLES AND DITCHES along the side of the road in places. EXTREME VEHICLE DAMAGE IS EMINENT

If you want a true RV or Camping experience try Canyon RV @ Featherly Park, O'Neil, Prado (even w/ the methane and flies fairs better then this arm pit park called CORNERSTONE), Caspers, or even Blue Jay (which is ACTUALLY located in Lake Elsinore) as these so called honest park managers would like to say this insiderpages listing park is located at.

If you're looking for long term RV park living, try Orangeland in Orange County or Ortega Oaks (an ABSOLULELY WONDERFUL park ACTUALLY located in Lake Elsinore) in Riverside County, just past the Orange County line on Ortega Hwy.

I only put one star so that I could be placed among the lies that have been written about this park. We are so happy with the recent change in mangement at this RV park! Finally, people are in the office to help those staying at the campground! I am not sure I would trust many of these other comments.

I persoally know that they have been cleaning up the park and making it a much cleaner and healthier place to stay. My family and I put this place at the top of our list!

Any intelligent person can form their own opinion. Don't make any decisions until you visit it yourself. You will be happy you did not listen to anyone but checked it out for yourself.

Happy RVing.

The absoulte worse experience ever. We were so looking forward to our memorial day holiday. Get to this dump and wanted to enjoy the facilities. Bathrooms are closed (no hot shower). No explanation or warning before we went in. The pictures are exactly as described. I believe the other posts. The post that referenced God and jealous people is no doubt the lessor/owner or whatever he is calling themselves on that given day. I'm a pretty good judge of character and I believe something underhanded is going on there. Maybe they don't want people to stay so they can sell it off to developers. I feel sorry for the people who have no choice but to live there.

Here are some other recommendations. Orangeland - very clean, excellent amenities, real and genuine staff that are friendly and happy. O'Neil Park is great. The rangers and the camp host are awesome. Nice trails. Trabucco Canyon is beautiful. We have also stayed at Caspers Regional Park. which is just as good as O'Neil Regional Park. The only downfall is pets are not allowed.

Why is this listing now FALSELY noting who they are and where they're located????
They are CORNERSTONE RV & PICNIC PARK, located in Silverado, CA 92676. The map shown is not correct. There is no such place on Ortega Hwy! In addition the phone number is bogus; Elsinore would have a different area code, not the Irvine area code and number noted.

They were FORMERLY known as Black Star RV & Picnic Park , which was a lovely little place in a land that time forgot, in the hills of Baker Canyon, in Silverado of Orange County California. That is until they were descended upon by a body of people as close to a CULT as can be without calling in the ATF!

The management of this park SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED to contact the insiderpages and make false alterations to the listing! They wanted to use these pages as advertisement when they first changed the listing to CORNERSTONE, but now that the TRUTH is posted they want to falsify information!!!

THE PHOTOS ARE OF CORNERSTONE IN BAKER CANYON, SILVERADO CALIFORNIA, not Lake Elsinore
(where the parks DO NOT compare to the TRASH LEVEL OF THIS PARK & IT'S MANAGEMENT)

For the cost of staying at Orange County's finest RV park, you can stay here. Trouble is, this is a 1 star park and that is only if you are generous. You won't find them rated by Woodall's or Good Sam. Let's focus on the positive... they have the great outdoors. But if that is what you want in this area, you will be happier at O'Neil Park or Ortega Oaks.

Save the money and the sorrow. Find a better option. The photos above are very, very, very, accurate.

I stayed here before the fires when it was under different management. I got to know many of the locals. The management that took over during the 2007 fire evacuation is terrible, and there is nothing Godly about these fools. They are horrible people who give Christians a bad name. They offend me. The five star post above that mentions God was written by their management. Newsflash to them... Christians, Jews and Muslims know that God is everywhere. Most people who can afford to leave the Cornerstone RV Park cesspool left. Who remained before the rate increase were the indigent, infirmed and the poor. Then, in the name of Christ, the management evicted several families just a few days after Christmas. What were the grounds for eviction? The evictees had been there ALMOST nine months... which would have given them residency. When one poor woman on welfair told them she had nowhere else that she could afford, they told her "We'll pray for you".

The people of Baker Canyon survived fires and floods and nature only to be victimized by the horrible, horrible monsters that hi-jacked this run down crappy park.

When this park was under different management, it used to be Orange County's greatest secret. There never have been any amenities here, but the country flavor made it worth while. Now, it is just like the garbage dump canyon next to it.

The electrical is faulty, and has bad grounding. Several campers have lost TV's, refridgerators, microwave ovens, auto-formers, slide motors, power converters, and surge protection devices. If you choose to stay here, bring protection for your protection.

Take my advice, stay at Irvine Lake, Orangeland, Canyon RV Park, Huntington by the Sea, Dockweilers Beach park, or anywhere else if you want to enjoy your camping experience. Don't stay at Cornerstone RV Park.

The park itself is in a state of disrepair!

The road leading into the park can do damage to your vehicle in it's present condition. The park neighbors a greenwaste facility which is the MAJOR CONTRIBUTING
FACTOR to the roads destruction, due to the large trucks that travel to and from this neighboring facility multiple times daily. Some of the trucks that travel the road leading to the park have a tendency to be less then considerate on this tad larger then one lane road (forcing vehicles off road regularly)

In addition the NEW management has not allowed a single new RV'er or Camper into the park since 1 November 2007 and existing rv'ers are leaving due to poor management & faulty park conditions. Electrical is an issue at the park due to faulty or severely outdated wiring. Laundry & Restroom facilities are faulty (that's a polite discription) and is NO RECREATIONAL FACILITIES as claimed in addition to there being NO
OTHER AMENITIES.

With the exception of the 5 (five) Pass Port America sites (which are the only sites that will accommodate a 50' rig as they claim), most sites will barely accommodate a 30' coach or trailer & that's approximately 1/2 of the 60 (total) RV sites, the other 1/2 barely accommodate a 20' rig & some do not even have room for a vehicle to park in the space or in front of the space your rig is in.

The park could have potential if the present management would take the time to repair, upgrade or maintain it.

The location ONLY (under whatever name) is awesome! Baker Canyon, Black Star, and Silverado are only 3 of the lovely fingers of an open hand that forms a community that is truly touched by God.

The facility itself is in a major state of disrepair!!! The present management office is not open & management of the park is deficient. Guests are presently being turned away and have been since 1 November 2007. The management has not admitted a single (-0- ZERO) vacationer or tenant into the park since 1 November 2007 to present date here in 2008.

Previous management of the park was outstanding!!! Both ladies (Ms R. [in 2007] & Mrs. F. before her [first month of 2007-prior]) were & still are AMAZING human beings, who were loved and continue to be loved by most that were blessed enough to have come in contact with them.

If it's scenery you want, basic sewer and faulty electric and don't mind paying $40.- a night ($210.-$240. weekly), in addition to a lack of amenities, then this is the park for you (although you'd fare better CAMPING in Cleveland National Forrest or elsewhere).

Cornerstone Rv park (formally Black Star Rv park) is a really nice place to visit specially if you love nature in that place you surely feel close to GOD. I have visited the park in two occasions the first one was last year it wasn't very nice when i got there with my Rv i couldn't find the person in charge. I had to wait for her about four hours in the parking place next to the office and finally she got there when it was getting dark. Thank GOD the second time which was this year everything is better. The office is running like a normal office.AND NOW YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT OUTSIDE THE OFFICE AT ALL.I recommend that you visit this place. the only thing i ask is for god to bless conerstone rv and the jealous people

Cornerstone is the current leaseholder of this property for the next two years. There is nothing here as far as amenities. The restrooms belong in Mexico and the club house is not open for use and hasn't been for over 10 years. The pool was closed by the health department several years ago and has no water in it. The only thing here are the ones of us who love the scenery. They are totally mis representing this park....

Black Star Rv & Picnic Park is not only a great place for picnic or campground, but it is great for people who want to look at the stars. In the city, there are too many lights and the stars dont appear as bright or as much. However, I find that Black Star Rv & Picnic Park is a great place to view all the stars in the sky. I love to goes here every summer to camp or simply look up at the stars hoping to catch a shooting star.
