We have only had our kitten for 7 days when he started acting sluggish and not eating. The Dr was recommended by a relative so we took him there, The Dr, examined Butters and indicated he was probably in a cat fight. We do have a teen

Dr. Hatamya and his staff are wonderful. They saved two stray dogs lives that I brought in. Toto had Parvo. She was at deaths door but with the care she received seven days later she was home doing great. Brown eyes was emaciated, anemic

In response to Rebecca C. comment below, Dr Hatayama does everything possible to keep his costs down so he can pass these savings on to us, his customers. His love for the animals is much greater than any other vet I have ever been to! I

I happened to be at the Vet Clinic on 5-2 it was really hot in the lobby and I could hear the Dr. Hatayama yelling at all the girls working for him. Telling them he would not be putting the air on because they left "one" window open. He

I agree with the last review. Dr Hatayama is the best Vet we've ever had. AND he's the cheapest. You can ask any vet at pet emergencys in fresno/clovis and they will agree and have a very high respect. He went to UC Davis which is the best

Dr. Hatayama comes from a large family of doctors, both medical and veterinary, with a history of philanthropy and love for animals, and it shows. He could not be more kind, knowledgeable and caring. He's so good to our three dogs and knows exactly what they need. He's also quick with anything that might hurt but listens whenever something is complex. We are so lucky to live near a true St. Francis of Assisi. In tough economic times, it's also nice that his office never overcharges like some big chain vets. With three dogs, we've never paid more than $80 for everything, including extras like medicine & personalized tags. Surgery to spay our rescued Russell Terrier was $60. I could not believe it, as I've paid upwards of $400 for the same surgery with less care.

We found out about Dr. Hatayama from a co-worker whose cat Dr. Hatayama saved after the kitten had snuck into the laundry and been through nearly a whole wash cycle. We've also heard from others whose pets he's saved. He is a miracle worker.

We could not recommend him more. On Saturdays, his office has a no appt morning and the whole office is packed, but he sees every last one. The last Saturday we were there, someone brought in a stray that had been run over. Dr. Hatayama treated the pup for the man who found him and didn't charge anything. Consider Dr. Hatayama before you go back to the big chain store vets which treat your pet like a fast food meal on a conveyor belt. You'll never go back to the big chain store vets after one visit to Dr. Hatayama. We haven't.

I'm just not sure what the two previous reviewers are talking about, but it is certainly not Dr. Hatayama or the level of his care. I wonder why the prior poster kept going back to Dr. Hatayama six times if she found it so bad.\r

On 6/30/11, I had an appointment with South County Veterinary Hospital to have a cherry-eye removed from my dog's eye. After having a few scheduling issues and needing to reschedule on three seperate occasions, the Vet's office informed me

I have been to many vets in the Fresno and mountain areas and no one is as thoughtful, loving and dedicated as Rodney Hatayama of South County Veterinary Hospital. He has helped my Max and Casey for the last 6 months and am so grateful for his understanding and kind manner with my dogs. His staff is always there to help and they have so many customers daily I don't know how they do it. I love you guys and will never go anywhere else. I tell everyone who will listen!!!!!

I have never been to such a dirty and unprofessional vet hospital before. The stench in that place is almost unbearable. I know that animal clinics smell but in my experience they have never smelled as bad as it does here. The women at the reception desk are unprofessional and very short (with the exception of one). The waiting room floor is very dirty and one of the receptionists is always snacking while she talks to pet owners. The vet is unkempt and doesn??t take the time to talk everything through with you (we had to ask him for more information repeatedly). The lady that took our puppy didn't give us time to say goodbye to our dog and just grabbed her and left. When we walked to the reception desk the lady that took our dog squeezed through the other ladies to reach the phone with our dog in her arms! Why no one else could answer the phone I do not know. The vet did not look like he did a thorough analysis of our dog before telling us she was going to have to stay the night. We called the next morning and we couldn't pick her up for another 3 days because it was the weekend and they never got to the minor stitching she needed! When we called they were very short and showed no compassion. I had to ask to talk to the vet when I picked my dog up so that he could tell me about her diet, healing time, and medicine. When we picked our dog up she was skinny like they hadn't fed her. We are never ever ever taking any of our dogs there again. I would HIGHLY recommend CARE AT THE COURTYARD VET CLINIC in Visalia. They are the exact opposite of these people. THE ONE GOOD THING ABOUT THIS VET is that he is very inexpensive. But my dog deserves better treatment even if it is more costly. We are on a tight budget and wanted to save money but that is a mistake we will never repeat again. You get what you pay for.

I don't care where I'm coming from anymore, if I've got a pet that needs medical attention, I go to this guy every time! There was one time our dog K.C. needed an operation to fix her legs. We were told by an emergency vet that it would cost several thousands to fix her legs... We went to Hatayama, he examined K.C. and asked for no more than $300 for the surgery. You can really tell that he is in it for the animals and not the money!! Great man!

Always straight-forward and takes the time to explain all the options with you. His staff isn't always the brightest, but he is great. The prices are not expensive and service is quick!
