1 Stars: WASTE of MONEY, terrible food and service. (by Jared P.)

This was the worst restaurant food ever. i ordered the multi seafood plater...grilled fisherman or captains platter and it was aweful. the fish was hard and chewy, the prawns were small salad shrimp and the scallops was like chewying bubblegum. TERRIBLE service and the waitress left in the middle of service due to her end of shift.....with out telling anyone! how rude. look, the bad reviews are right on, i went there for coast guard training and i should have had a mre ration dinner or long john silvers fast food...because pier 29 was a waste of time, money and i was really disapointed.

1 Stars: Don't Waste Your Time (by Sharon R.)

Any good reviews of this place must have been written by friends of the owners. This place is seriously in need of a real chef and some real recipes. It looks like a Chinese restaurant in denial. Very confusing and confused environment. We had the calamari, soup, salad and drinks. Everything was soooo boring. The batter on the calamari was the same as you would get on deep fried prawns in a one-star Chinese joint. It came with one bright red dipping sauce and another white one. Can't for the life of me figure out what they were trying to be. Both tasted like bottled hof brau fare. In fact, everything had a dull, institutional taste to it. The salad is not even worth mentioning. Romaine lettuce with a few bay shrimp thrown on and a packaged tasting dressing. The lemon drop cocktail I ordered was unbelievably bad. It reeked of (bottled) Rose's Lime Juice and looked like swamp water. In my opinion, if a restaurant can't pass the soup & salad test it is indeed on shaky ground. Don't waste your time or your money here.

1 Stars: Do not believe the revews! Did, went and are very sorry we did! (by M C.)

Do a web search for Pier 29 in Alameda and read more before stopping here! I only read the ones on this site, made a decision to go for my daughters birthday. Not only do they have a very questionable seating arrangements, the food is absolutely terrible (if it isn't fried, its gray in color) and the service was non-existent.

If I hadn't stopped here, I would have found reviews that compared to exactly what I found and none of them are mentioned here. Don't make the same mistake!!

4 Stars: Moved but still nearby (by Cathy P.)

This great restaurant has moved to 1150 Ballena Blvd in Alameda. It's still on the water with a great view of the bay and SF or the boat harbor. Food is as good as ever. Service is also good. Prices are modest. Has a nice new bar. Flat screen TVs. Outdoor patio. Banquet room.
Plenty of parking. A little out of the way but worth going to.

4 Stars: A nice place on the estuary (by Susan H.)

Pier 29 is a friendly family style restaurant right on the Oakland estuary on the other side of Alameda's Park Street bridge. The speciality is seafood and the menu is simply enormous, with every conceivable seafood dish that you would desire........ with the occasional non-seafood items offered, too. Very good food, nice location, and pleasant and attentive waitstaff......you can't miss if you eat here!

PROS: On the water, with ample parking available
CONS:
