Hindu Be aware of this restaurant. They sell GROUND BEEF in the name of GROUND LAMB.
The food is really bad. If you are going for the lunch then you are eating the remaining food of the yesterday. Especially the Chicken Tikka Masala, Ground Beef, Lamb with Bone, Navratan Korma, Rice, samosa, pakora are always the food that is remaining from Yesterday and it tastes awful.

The food was very fresh and tasty. There was just the right amount of spices in the curry and the rice was cooked to perfection. The prices are a bit expensive, but the portions are large.

I will never go back to this restaurant again

Ratings_icons Limited Buffet , Only Average in Taste

We are Indian cuisine aficionados and have eaten it all over the country in our travels. My husband who has lived in India is an expert in what is authentic tasting Indian cuisine. This buffet was very mediocre, lacking in both variety of dishes and spicy taste. I have found Indian food much spicier in most Indian restaurants I have eaten in; I don't know if this was due to a new cook or if the restaurant likes to travel the middle road to appeal to a broader population. We won't return to find out. The space is small which may account for why the buffet is limited. We are familiar with buffets which have a larger variety of dishes, but we could understand spatial issues preventing that in this restaurant. Neither of us returned to the buffet for 2nds of anything. :-(

Pros: Reasonable Price

Cons: Average Food with Little Spice and Limited Buffet Selections; Parking is difficult

Ratings_icons Good, but not great...

My girlfriend and I walked down here to give their chicken tikka masala a try. Apparently their specialty is their buffet (their sign said $7.95, but we were told dinner was $8.95 upon sitting down). As we wanted to dine on the cheap, we decided to just split a plate of the tikka. The chicken was of decent quality, but the masala itself was a bit runny and bland. We ordered two garlic naan's but found that one would've sufficed as their quite large. I have made it my mission to find the best Indian food in the city. If I find none better, I will return here. But for now, I will keep searching...

Pros: reasonable prices

Cons: somewhat bland

Ratings_icons Good Indian Buffet Next to Kabuki

dancergirl21

If you like Indian, and need a place to eat before you catch a movie at Kabuki, this is the place. $7.95 buffet gets you all-you-can-eat, and I appreciated their good selection of food, along with accompanying sauces. I'm usually not into Indian food, but I liked this place. The place is simple and functional. Not a place to bring a first date to, but a cozy place to go to with a good friend. I liked their mango lassis. I also like that they tell you that you can eat as much as you want, but please don't take more than you can eat. Environmental, economical, and not promoting waste - all good things.

I was not impressed their lunch buffet. very limited choices. Taste was OK. I felt expensive compare to the menu selection and price. There are many ohter restaurant whose buffet is cheaper or more selection. Naan was no taste and somewhat dry.

I have had some of the most increadible Indian food ever. I travel all over the world. I am a native San franciscan. When I need my Indian fix, this is the place I head for. The buffet is unbeatable and always satisfying. The food tastes more authentic than the other Indian restaurants/buffets in the city. The buffet includes lentil soup, naan, rice, tandori chicken, 3 or 4 different curry dishes, appetizers, milk tea, dessert, salad, and a slough of different sauces. Their lassies (yogurt drink) are DELICIOUS. Service is average. I don't know if it's a cultural thing, but the staff doesn't smile much. Bottom line: not the best in the world, but honestly the best in SF. I've even been to Gaylord's which is a total rip off and some of the worst Indian I've ever had. Don't let expensive prices fool you.

Pros: buffet, mango lassi, food

Ratings_icons Yummy!

Had the Chicken Curry and a Shrimp dish, as well as some garlic naan. Everything was great! The restaurant was pretty empty, I didn't realize they were actually closing when we entered. They greated us with smiles and was more than happy to take care of us, an extra plus in my book!

The food is OK. I eat out everyday and this place is walking distance from my house. I have been there twice in 9 months.

Ratings_icons Great Indian food at this hidden treasure

andrewshogun

I was on my way to another restaurant when my friend and I decided to give this place a try. I wasn't expecting much, but it turns out the food was very good. One of the downfalls of many buffets is the food tends to be left out for a long time. Not at this buffet. The food was fresh, and although the variety was more or less limited, it had everything one can expect considering the restaurant isn't very large. I had a great dining experience, and as far as value goes, it does not get better than this, especially on Filmore St. where a hamburger will cost you more than what you pay at this buffet. I will definitely be coming back again.

Pros: Great food, value, fresh servings

Cons: none

Ratings_icons Wonderful food, unbeatable prices

I am consistently impressed with India Palace and I cannot believe how reasonably priced everything is. They have a 2-person special with 2 big samosas, lamb korma, tandoori chicken, naan, rice, and raita, all for just $20.90! When I've got food delivered, it has arrived piping hot and tasted phenomenal. When I've gone for their buffet, of course the food wasn't as to par as it would have been had I ordered it, but still tasted great and a steal at $7.95. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Pros: Cheap, Prompt delivery, Great food

if you're in the mood for a quick curry fix in the lower fillmore, this place is fine. the naan is pretty consistant. other than that, nothing really is. the saag paneer varies in quality wildly. pakoras and samosas are occasionally overcooked--but can be wonderful. they have an excellent onion chutney.

it should be mentioned that, unlike raja or indian oven, these items are priced pretty reasonably, which is a good thing.

Pros: Moderate Price, Large Buffet, Naan

Cons: Quality Varies, Service: Good/Bad
