Answer the Phone!
by c h f.
On Saturday at around 8 pm, I called Lowe's in Burbank to find out if the had Water Heater Blankets in stock. I could get it on line but I wanted to save time and shipping cost. It took 20 minutes before someone answered the phone. I asked the person if they were really busy at that hour and the answer was no, then apologized for the long wait. To make a long story short they do have the item in stock and promised to hold one for me to pick up the next day. Overall the service was actually pleasant after waiting for someone to pick up the phone for what seem like eternity. The store should not advertise their phone number unless someone is there to answer it.

Horrible Horrible Service
by Clayton B.
I never do this, but this calls for it. I purchased a garden window, custom with 3 weeks delivery. Sent it back for it was the wrong size. After that, I met with milling who said they would call that day and dicuss the problem. I received no call. The next day, no call. the next day no call, so I go up there and wait for 35 minutes before approached for service, even after I pushed the little red button. Then she asked if I was measuring it form the right place. To make sure I asked for details on installtion, which she had someone on the phone fax me one page of a seven step process (typed with no illustrations or measurements). So, I looked through a reference manual I found on a stand close by and found directions... which were coloring book like illustrations. I asked then, to have the same window sent back for I am willing to, at this point, make anything work, even if I have to alter the framing on this exterior wall and loose cabinet space. She replied that they might not have the same window in. ???IT"S A CUSTOM WINDOW - what are the CHANCES that someone is going to need a custom window, the exact measurements of MY window? She told me she would call me THAT DAY when she got off the phone with manufacturer. After 3 more days of no call - I called and learned that those CHANCES were pretty good, because in those three days from the time they picked up the window, they received it in shipping, advertised it for sale, found a buyer, and re-shipped it. They claim that they sold the MY window and had to make it again ---3 more weeks!!

Worst Customer Service Department/Management
by Anonymous
I totally agree with Kimberly's review of the customer service desk. Go there only if you are desperately seeking self abuse! (personally, I would rather go for a root canal)
I would also like to add that most all management in that store, at least from my personal experiences, seems to suffers from a definite lack of customer service.... btw, writing a letter complaining about store management to Lowes headquarters is tantamount to telling the fox that the henhouse is getting broken into.
In all fairness, I will say that most Lowes stores are better stocked with merchandise and workers than any Home Despot store, and kept somewhat cleaner, unfortunately the lethargy in the employees and especially the management in the Burbank store, is enough to keep me away. (unless I absolutely have to go there)

I like the store but customer service desk is HELL
by Kimberly H.
I have been to this Lowes now three times to get flooring. First time: to check out a sample. Second time: to order and return sample. Third time: to schedule installation (they don't let you do this over the phone, because you have to sign their contracts). Each time, dealing with the flooring department was great -- they offered good advice and were really helpful. But each time, the customer service desk (which you are required to use if you are using their installation services or returning anything you "check out" like a sample of anything) -- was AWFUL. I mean just plain AWFUL.
There is a minumum of 6 people behind that desk at any one time, milling around, avoiding eye contact with the huge line of irate customers who wait an average of half an hour before they even talk to anyone. Only one person is actually working with customers at a time. Three times someone behind the desk tried to tell me to go to returns (and I would have lost my place in line). My husband went to returns and they sent him back to customer service.
Each time, after waiting half an hour in the customer service line, we were greeted by someone who was irritable and rude, not to mention incompetent. The worst was when we tried to return the floor sample, and they couldn't find the book they wrote down our name in. They don't computerize this, they write your name down in one of like 6 different paper receipt books that they flip through page by page until they find your name. They couldn't find our name, and so they were going to MAKE US KEEP this stupid flooring sample that they charged us a $25 deposit for. I insisted they keep looking, and finally they found it and refunded us $15. At this point, I gave up and went home.
I'm out $10 and an hour and a half of my time. I don't believe I'll be going back, at least not for anything that requires the customer service desk. You have been warned. Only go here if you don't mind waiting around forever and be prepared to argue vigorously for the correct price.

While visiting in California, my daughter asked me to help do a major remodelling job on her house. I went to this Lowes and the people were very helpful in guiding me to the right materials. I placed a huge order which had to be delivered to her house. Not only was the delivery made at the time requested, but the delivery person offered to help carry my supplies up the fifty-seven steps that lead to her house. It is hard to find that type of service anywhere and I am forever grateful for the help this young man provided.

I have only have been 3 times. Didn't like the long wait for help. We bought a major appliance at a good price from here once. After waiting a good part of my day for it they told me it wasn't even coming till the next day. To their managers credit after I conveyed my desperate need for it to arrive that day it did.

I still like Home Depot better

Selection is comparable to Home Depot, though I like the quality of HD goods a bit better. Prices are slightly higher, but not that much - they do price match. Stores are generally newer, bigger, and cleaner - which is a plus. Staff was OK, not as many as I would Like.

If you need any kind of hardware, just go here. They've got everything: a great staff, well organized stock and just about anything you could ever need/want for your home. Get creative and go check it out. You'll find that doing it yourself is part of the fun.
The place does get really crowded on weekends, so try to check it out on off hours.

Lowe's is a bit more expensive, but I like it because I can take my wife there and she doesn't complain, because it is a "prettier" hardware store. Doesn't have the bright lights and is more decorative than your Home Depot. The products are also a little more upscale than other hardware stores, so if you want a little more variety, try Lowe's. This area also has lots of home stores.

I like going to Lowes because of their good prices. I do not like the fact that you got to wait for help. I mean they are so overwhelmed that they do not have enough people to answer your questions. I mean if you got the time to wait then go here but otherwise I would not go here. Their checkout is quick but their customer service is slow
