My wife and I have taken our dogs to Dr. Han and his staff for many years and have always been very impressed. Dr. Han is incredibly kind and gentle, both with the animals and their owners; the prices are fair; unnecessary work is not pushed; and it is almost always possible to get an appointment on short notice. We highly recommend Richmond Veterinary Hospital.

Dr. Han and his staff are wonderful. I have been taking all three of my dogs here for over 6 years. Very compassionate and Dr. Han even gets down on the floor to see eye to eye with my poodles. He is caring and gentle.

I've visited Dr Han a few times since getting my German shepherd mix Oso in Feb 2009. He is really personable, and I was amazed to see Oso, who is usually very timid with men, warm up to him within moments. He even licked Dr Han's hand after he had a particularly painful shot once, as if to say, "I know you had to do it, I forgive you."

I grew up with dogs, but Oso is my first pet as an adult -- so I tend to ask a lot of questions. Dr Han is always patient and willing to answer questions, even though some of them probably seemed ridiculous to him. I've been able to book last minute appointments, am always seen on time, and have never felt overcharged for anything. I've recommended them to folks at Point Isabel Dog Park who were new to the area or looking for a new vet. Plus, the people at Metro Dog where I sometimes bring Oso for daycare gave Richmond Veterinary Hospital the thumbs up.

I have found Dr. Han and his staff extremely kind, compassionate, competent and wonderful with my dogs. Dr. Han stays within what he can do, and refers out if beyond what he can do. He doesn't do unnecessary procedures, and I like his common-sense approach. I refer people to him as often as possible, and am quite suspicious of cat story below.

I have been bringing my kitty "Baby" to Richmond Vet and Dr. Han for over 9 years now and we have always received the best of care. Whether we are boarding or coming for our annual shots or a nervous mom after her baby's first major jump off the roof top - the doctor and his staff have always been first rate.

I read a recommendation for Dr. Han at the Richmond Veterinary Clinic and felt compelled to write this:

My cat was first found some years back in a small cage along with 4 or 5 other cats, in the back of the The Richmond Veterinary Clinic(all these cats were rescued) by a kind person who had been paying to board a rescue dog there. When she asked Dr. Han why they were there, he said that the clinic was keeping them as a favor for their "owner" who couldn't keep them, that they'd had them there for approximately two years, and that they had looked for homes for them but were unsuccessful.

However, Stevie, as I named him, was skeletal, dehydrated and frightened when he was brought to me, as were the other cats rescued. He had trouble walking and his mouth was full of infected teeth which needed to be pulled. The people at the Richmond veterinary Clinic could not even tell me if his shots were up to date and refused to answer any of my questions.
I believe that the cats were used for blood transfusions although no one at the clinic would tell me anything.

After his rescue, with constant love, reassurance and good health care from a decent clinic, Stevie became the wonderful sweet little guy he was always meant to be. The staff and doctors who were at the Richmond Vet Hospital at that time will likely never pay for their cruelty. They should at least be made to answer for it. Will you ever answer for this, Dr. Han?

I've taken three different dogs in to see Dr. Han. I've always been able to get in relatively quickly (usually the same day I've called) and Dr. Han has treated them very effectively. One dog was a very anxious, slightly ferile little guy I brought in for a neighbor who couldn't afford to treat him. I was completely convinced the dog would bite him -- the whole thing started out a little badly -- but within a short time the dog was actually cuddling in the vet's chest. I still can't quite believe it. I'm taking the same dog in to see him again tomorrow.

Dr. Han and his staff are great! It's not everyday you find a vet who spends 15-20 minutes with you and your pet. I took my 2 kitties in for grooming and check up. Dr. Han spent the first few minutes of our visit simply petting and talking to our kitties. When we picked them up later that afternoon after having them groomed, they were happy and purring. That tells me they were well treated and loved. This is a great vet, groomer and staff. Thank you Dr. Han and staff!!

We like the staff, and we love the vet -- or more precisely, our pets do. Over the years, we have had some easy problems with our pets, and some very difficult ones. Dr. Han and the people at Richmond Veterinary Hospital have always solved our problems quickly, efficiently, at the lowest possible expense, and with great kindness. We recommend Richmond Veterinary Hospital strongly and whole-heartedly.

PROS: brilliant, kind care of pets and their owners

Dr Han really has a way with dogs. The first time he saw my miniature dachshund, he sat on the floor and let Rusty approach at his own pace. It only took a minute before he was in Dr Han's arms with Dr Han literally whispering in his ear. Rusty was so calm and then let Dr Han do any procedure without any fear at all. After that visit, Rusty would run to the front door to see Dr Han. Unfortunately we have relocated, but many times I've thought about driving back to Richmond to see Dr Han. I'm rating Dr Han as a 5 star, but would rate the facilities as 3 star. Old, outdated space, but it doesn't matter - Dr Han is the best. The staff is great too.

We have taken all of our animals to the Richmond Veterinary Hospital for the last 10 years. Their staff is extremely proffesional and caring towards both the animals and their caregivers. Whether you have an emergency or are bringing your pet in for a routine checkup, they treat you with courtesy and respect.

Dr. Sang Han at Richmond Veterinary Clinic is great and I have found I am usually seen on time. Yes, the emergencies can arise. He has his own parking area and the office staff are efficient in checking one out. From what I understand, the Richmond Police Dept takes their dogs to this vet. The building is old but the rooms are fine and I love the vet. He's a gentle man, spending enough time with us before scurrying off to see his other patients. By the way, the waiting room is always filled when we come here.
