Do Not take your pets here for medical procedures.\r
Total lack of organization. After waiting a week to get a cancerous cyst removed from my dogs shoulder, they tried to extort additional money for operation. THEY SIGNED A QUOTE and I

We love Banfield in Oxnard. Great doctors and staff, can be a bit slow at times, but worth the wait. Love the fact that they have long and weekend hours. Used to have to go to the ""Pet Emergency"" ripoff place!

I took my 2 year old dog to Bandfield because he was vomiting the night before. The vet tech seemed more interested in finding out what was wrong with my dog then the vet. The vet tech was asking about the consistency of his bowel and vomit and asked of his behavior has changed. When the vet was done evaluating him instead of telling me she could not find a diagnosis, she starts listing all these meditations, vitamins, IV, blood test, and cell test. I then
asked her what was wrong with my dog, cold hearted as can be she said she didn't know and that is why she wanted to run all these
tests and he would need to be hospitalized. I did not feel comfortable leaving him over night to be hospitalized because I felt
he might have had food poisoning, like us humans. It didn't make
sense to me to have him hospitalized so I decided to hold off for a
couple of days. My dog was back to normal the very next day. I felt
as if the vet wanted to do unnecessary procedures. I also felt the
vet was callous and unprofessional. Bandfield's insurance plans are
just a way of getting extra money. If I would have followed through with having my dog hospitalized the insurance was only going to cover 5% of the hospital bill. I would not recommend Bandfield or their insurance plans. I would recommend Adobe Animal Hospital; they are reason able with cost and seemed sympathetic with our lost of our 15 year old dog that we had to put to sleep. They even sent us a condolence card in the mail, which had all of the staff's signatures.

Banfield is a scam company. They pressure you to buy their wellness plan - as they do a printout of your pets problems & their cost. They explain that it would be cheaper to buy their plan. They do unnecessary tests & then try to sell you medication, which costs 3 times more than if you went to Walmart. Stay away!!!!!! They pretend to be vets - wearing white jackets - when they have no skills. Find a local independent vet.

I've been here off and on. They're okay generally speaking, but frankly I think it's more of a volume business than a clinic. The vets are a bit overworked especially for their age... and they might just be running out the clock until retirement, if you know what I mean. In hindsight, the care my pets have gotten there was average at best, and disastrous at worst (prescribed off label use of a medication that caused my pet to go critical, they only said stop using it, didn't advise appropriate action, wasted time and pet died a horrible death). Necropsy showed they were at fault. Only good thing I can say is that they said "Sorry". So I haven't been back since and I'm STILL looking for a good regular vet. Come on people, little help here please!

I joined citysearch just to be able to review this. My dog had an emergency, a lump found on her last yr when i was visiting Oxnard. I took her to the Banfield and they told me she probably had cancer and had to have surgery immediately. Distraught, I agreed and signed up for their pet care program. I told them I didnt live there and asked if it was transferrable easily to another location, they said yes which is a complete lie. She had a very expensive surgery, then all they would tell me for results was that she had a benign fatty lump, not much for a possibly fatal anesthesioly for an old dog. I then moved to LA and had to continue driving the 1.5 hrs to Oxnard as there are none near here and I couldnt change the plan without signing up for a whole nother year.\r\nThe doctors are okay but dont listen to anything you say and are forgetful. They do not change information in the medical records so every time you go on a visit you get papers with the same weights, etc on the forms as they change nothing. They prescribed my dog the wrong amount of thyroid medicine and wouldnt change it so I had to adjust it myself. They always want you to drop off your dog all day so they can take their time doing who knows what, which I didnt allow. If you have a plan, they indicate that you are paying for things that never happened. For instance she went in for a yearly comprehensive exam, the dr looked in her ears and eyes. Then the forms are full of lies about the procedures they did. I have brought in samples and they have lost them immediately. I called in an emergency out of town where i needed her rabies papers faxed to me, they refused. They never call with lab results, there's no followup and you will have to call and call or go in to hear simple results of tests. They will not inform you when your pet needs vaccinations.. and she has a new condition, a bladder stone, which they didnt describe to me at all and now she has to go to a new vet to deal with all this. AWFUL SCAM!

Pros: Well lit?? really, none.

Cons: Incompetant staff, Wellness plans are horrible scams to take your money.
