Insider Pages Reviews for Applewood Pizza

Ratings_icons Used to be great, but recently leaves much to be desired.

Anish J. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,712

Applewood used to make the best pizza in the Bay Area but in the last two years, the pizza has become too cheesy, has lacked ingredients and flavors, and has lost its old charm. Would only recommend for someone willing to take a chance as the pizza is rarely good.

Ratings_icons Great thick crust pizza

Nancy I.

This is my family's favorite pizza place, hands down. If you like a good thick crust pizza, check out Applewood. They have a large selection of toppings to satisfy everyone. Their prices are very reasonable and you don't need any coupons.

Ratings_icons Best Pizza on the Peninsula!

Nicholas E. | insider Insider | Rank: 19,826

I have been eating Applewood Pizza for the past 15 years and the quality of food has always been superb. The have an excellent spinach, goat cheese and sun dried tomato salad! The Hawaiian, Venice and Fluorentine Pizzas are great.

PROS: Excellent pizza and salads, friendly service
CONS: Gets crowded at dinner time and it is better to order 20-30 min early

Ratings_icons Great pizzas, beer on tap

Helen S. | insider Insider | Rank: 25,537

The pizzas are packed with toppings and really yummy. Lots of variety -- anything from good ole pepperoni to Mediterranean to pesto. The place is always really packed, and a great place to sit at the bar and watch a game. Beers are available on tap as well. A great place to take a large group of people because you pick up your pizzas at the counter, so the service is relatively quick. A great meal for your money.

Ratings_icons Great pizza, crowded

Dan B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,307

Always crowded here, but you'll find great pizzas and lots of beer on tap. You place an order up front, get a number and jockey with other patrons to find seating. Sometimes you'll wind up with food but no seat. There's a takeout location across the street if you'd prefer to eat at home.
