I previously took my 1996 Ford Ranger to another auto shop I trusted in a different town, but they (in my opinion) misdiagnosed the stalling issue, did not want to remove the starter bolts, and still charged me almost $200 for installation of a temperature sensor. The truck continued to stall. I looked up auto repair shops on CSAA (AAA) web site and found Garden Highway Auto Clinic. I then took the truck to Garden Highway Auto Clinic. 1. They replaced the starter which required removing bolts in very difficult positions. The bolts were the wrong type, so they froze (I broke one trying to remove it.) 2. The Ranger had to be towed because the engine would stall and not start for a long time. (It was safe there overnight.) This was a lesson because online resources would have me replacing the fuel filter or fuel pump. Their diagnosis had them start with the basics, so it saved a lot of time. A rat nest was inside the air filter! 3. Rats also had eaten part of the wiring (because in those years wire insulation was made of recycled organic material.) They did a couple labor hours for free to help keep the total cost down and they explained everything to me in a manner I understood. I waited a couple months to drive a thousand miles to be sure the repairs were good before writing this review. I definitely would go back to this shop.

After looking for a reputable auto shop to install a sway bar (simple task) in my car in Yuba City I came across Garden Highway Auto Clinic because it had a bunch of good reviews. I called and spoke to "Mark" who appeared to either own the business or was the manager. I told him I wanted to install an aftermarket sway bar on my S2000, he told me to come down so his mechanic could take a look at it, give me an estimate. He also said that they had time to change it. So I drove down (20 minute drive). My first impression of the shop when pulled into the parking lot was that they had way too many vehicles parked out front of such a small shop. The first thing that came to mind was either customers werent paying for their repairs and the cars were left there or this business was taking on more than they could handle thus creating long turn around times for repairs. I walk in the receptionist was talking on the phone with what appeared to be her boyfriend and left me standing there unassisted. Finally after listening to her conversation for 5 minutes she finally got to me and called Mark up to the front desk. Mark didnt remember our conversation from 30 minutes ago and told me to hold on & that he might forget about me and to come get him if Im waiting for than 10 minutes. He comes back after 10 minutes and says "oh you have one of those damn cars (S2000)." He tells me to pull it up to one of the bays so one of his mechanics could give me an estimate. The mechanic couldnt give me an estimate because either he had never worked on a car with a sway bar or either he wanted to leave me in the dark and wait for the work to be finished and pay "x" for the work to be done. My swaybar is easily accessible and has four bolts, thats it, and i explained that to him and still couldnt give me a price? They charge $86 per hour. I wanted a base price because of such a simple task it was. Well they said that they could only get my car one lift in there whole shop and it was currently being used by an old beater. He told me to come back in an hour and they would be able to do the task. I leave and go eat, come back an hour later and let him know that I am here. Mark says to me as his back is turned to me "we couldnt fix the other car on the lift and to come back whenever." He didnt ask for my name, number, didnt bother to make an appointment, just walked away from an unfinished conversation and left me standing there. Completely unprofessional, rude and quite pathetic. Worst customer service from a mechanic shop I have ever seen in my 30 years. I wasted 3 hours of my day off for this place. Im a pretty reasonable & understanding person but this place was a horrible "Mom and Pop" type business. Im guessing he knew he wasnt going to get paid alot for the task at hand and blew me off because I wasnt a profitable customer. I wouldnt send anyone here because of what I saw and experienced. The customer service was horrible and the mechanic seemed unexperienced for such simple suspension work. I was pretty upset. Seriously who does this? No follow up, just "see ya later" with your back turned turned towards me.

Fantastic service, knowledgeable folks, had my vehicle diagnosed within hours of dropping it off, and completely repaired the same day.
Final total was under the initial estimate, and they gave me a good head's up about other issues they noticed that may cause me trouble in the future, but were not pressing to get fixed just yet.
Mark was very clear about what pieces would be repaired, and what the costs were.
I won't be taking my car anywhere else so long as these guys are still taking business!

Service is excellent. I have taken all of our cars to Mark for years. Mark is honest and fair. We had a car, that 2 different shops could not figure out the problem. Mark continued to work with us until he found the problem and fixed it right. We have never been to another shop.

They are all very friendly and efficient. They do all repairs in a timely manner. Very highly recommend. The best way to get the job done is to drop it off, they call quick and can usually get it in and out on the same day. This shop is sometimes the only place that will work on older vehicles, but also sometimes the only shop to work on the very newest vehicles (my hybrid). Reading the other posts was interesting because Mark can seem rude at times; I guess...but he is VERY important to a whole lot of people and just moves quickly - he is honest about what HAS to be done, versus what SHOULD be done. He is never just sitting around...so if you are repeating yourself over and over then yeah...he might walk away (but so would I!). The one time he did seem a bit rude to me was because I was balking at a $450 repair right before Christmas...and when he walked away I realized I was thinking out loud and he didn't need to hear all that, you know? These days I just drop my keys off and tell him to call me with what he thinks. There have been times where I paid for a diagnosis but returned a few weeks later for the actual repair due to finances. They always stand behind their work and he has grown up locally so many of his customers have known him since he was a kid. I first came to the shop believing I needed a repair that was expected to cost $600 (an amount I was fine with) and when he called to tell me it was done, I got there to pay and the whole repair PLUS an oil change (I didn't even know I was overdue on) totaled $240 with tax. Mark could have easily handed me a bill for $600, no complaints but his reputation is more valuable to him than a few bucks. I have been in on a Monday and a Saturday and seen the guy working 12 hour days 6 days a week...he is very dedicated. I will take my cars to him until he closes down...for a maintenance service or an engine replacement...and if something comes up of concern...I would take it back. He makes things right. PERIOD. If you don't give them a chance he won't get to prove his honesty, but I have been impressed from day one and like his service more each time I visit the shop. The office personnel are efficient and know many customers by first name as they walk through the door (which always impresses my wife). Mechanics are notorious for being dishonest so when you find one that is trustworthy, there isn't much they can do to turn you off. Give them a shot, and if you have a concern (about not being heard or the time it will be completed - whatever) VOICE IT! He does all he can for people all day, every day and a complaint about his shop on a review like this is simply a complaint the customer never vocalized. Like any service - you have to be willing to communicate and work together and you will NOT be disappointed. They keep the office open until after 7pm sometimes just so I can get my car after I get off work. If you need a friend in the auto repair business - visit the shop and I really doubt you ever go anywhere else...unless its for price. They probably won't be the cheapest (you get what you pay for) but I am more concerned with quality so an extra few bucks is worth it. There have been times where he gave me two price options; one using dealer parts and one using aftermarket parts. He gave his recommendation and did whatever I chose. You simply can't go wrong. Go in, tell them your goal (to keep it running another year only, to do whatever in the world it needs, or just to fix one certain issue and ignore the other 100 issues). They take your order and do what you request. They do tend to get very busy sometimes but my vehicle has only had to stay overnight twice in all these years so if he knows you need it back RIGHT away, they do what they can to make it happen. One of the times it stayed I got a killer deal on a rental through their shop and even that impressed me! I won't go anywhere else, neither will anyone else I know because I will pick them up at his shop when they drop off and let him know I referred them...not so he will treat them differently but so that he will know I appreciate all they do there for my car. I value it enough to take my friends and family...and I can't even say that about a single RESTAURANT in our area, so yeah! It says A LOT!
