Maybe I don't know what "soul food" is, but I've been to this place several times and the food is great. I usually eat the chicken fried steak with collard greens, and man am I full afterwards. The lemonade is really good, and drinking it out of a jar is fun enough. The only negative I can think of is the last time I was there they pretty much only take cash or American Express. They don't take Visa or MasterCard.

I like southern cooking but maybe I also like flavor because this did not cut it for me. The cornbread muffins that came with our meal were okay, but I've had better. The service wasn't too bad- they were really nice and not too slow.

When I hear people say they like Aunt Kizzy's food, I know they didn't grow up with soul food. Ugh, cornbread isn't supposed to be hard unless you accidentally burn it, and even then, it still should taste good. Greens should be seasoned. Meat should fall off the bone just from you blowing on it. You should get tired just looking at the meal. Aunt Kizzy's feels like the fast food version of soul food to me. I'm still looking for some good soul food in L.A. It's so easy to find on the east coast...

Soul food in warming trays and drinks in Jars cute but not appealing. I don't know about you but when I think about soul food I think of food Fresh, hot and right out of the oven. I haven't been in awhile but from memory the dining area is small and cramped the tables and seating are very uncomfortable. The staff is terrible, the wait is extremely long and the place is highly overrated. If you want some real soul food save your money and time and ask a family member or friend to cook you a meal because this place sucks big time
