i love this place so so dear to my heart. i purchase one book a month. It's my budget :( I wish i could buy more. I encourage everyone to come and support local bookstore. Take your kids, your friends, and family here sometime, you all will have a nice time.

Recently remodeled, Borders has updated its cafe and interior space for more room for its children's section and shelves of books, music and DVDs. 2nd floor has window seats on 2 walls.

PROS: Split stairs and elevator make it easy to get around. Lots of seating space
CONS: Bathroom can get a bit untidy

This Borders is located in a desirable location and offers decent parking; however, the cafe is among the louder of all other Borders cafes that I frequent. While I only occasionally take my studies to bookstores during final's week or around midterms, I highly recommend not doing so at this locale. Otherwise, selections are fair and prices are standard as in any other Borders. Recommended for a brief, less-loud-than-usual hangout.

The selection is excellent (movies, music, and books, etc.), the location on Lake St. in Pasadena is great if you live in the area, however (and oddly enough) the men's room at this location is reminiscent of a big city public restroom. It's covered in graffitti and can't be serviced more than once every day or two. Pretty unimpressive for a classy bookstore in a classy city.

Located on the South end of Lake, Borders is a great bookstore if you're in the mood for browsing, sitting down with a cup of coffee, or listening to music upstairs.

The staff is friendly and helpful and the children's section has enough room for the little ones to run around.

The coffee shop has recently been changed and offers a great selection of coffee and teas.

This is my favorite bookstore and my favorite location; the selection is huge, there are lots of things to do, there are several stories you can get lost in that are very roomy and well sectioned away from other things, (magazines are off to one place, cashier at another, coffee in yet another, a second cashier upstairs, nooks for comics, music, romance, thrillers.) Even the parking options give you a nice selection - you can park either in the downstairs garage and come in through the main entrance, or you can go around and go up the ramp from the street behind, and enter through the second floor entrance.

This is a great store with a great selection. They have a selection that is deep and wide, and the books are easy to find and browse. On the minus side, they need more seating, and better help. Why doesn't the help at book stores seem to be knowledgeable about books anymore?

This store has a very large selection. Like most Borders, this store does not dissapoint. This store does not just carry books. It also carries music in teh back section of the store. It has two levels of music and books. This is a great place to go when you don't know what you want. It has everything you could want. The prices are a bit much sometimes. Sometimes, however, it has great sales. It also has a very extensive magazine rack near the cafe. The music section does not have much indie music. It has a lto of mainstream music. It also has very few copies of those albums which are not top 40. So if you want pop music, you are should coem here. You also can lsiten to the music before you purchase it by listening to it on the headphones. You can read magazines while sipping a coffee. I used to go to class and hten spend my free tiem here, reading. It has very comfortable chairs and is well lit. It also has plugs for those who need to plug in their laptops. You can sit in the midst of others or you can sit a

Borders really makes it convenient to browse before you buy. The atmosphere is chill and sedate, so go get your coffee or vanilla latte and prepare to check out all the huge dichotomy of books and music cds, or dvds. I truely like this place over barnes and noble for some reason. They have a great selection of art books and screenplays here are galore. You won't feel like you wasted your time when you go here to have fun. The staff is nice enough to look up titles for you and you can also look on their kiosks and do your own investigating.

Great book store. I really like this book store because of the the great promotional discounts and selection. Double decker store offers a full music section and a pretty decent movie selection. Check out the bargain tables and coffee shop too. Wonderful deck for lounging around. Childrens section is great with a mini stadium seating section for reading time. Can you tell I really like this store?

this borders is great. it's convenient to many of the stores that have been springing up on south lake. it is spacious and quiet, with a small cafe and tables outside to eat or read. there are quite a number of sale tables and they have nice comfortable chairs along the walls (although most of the time it's hard to snag one of those). i would prefer going to borders over the barnes and noble in old town.

PROS: not crowded

This is a really nice Borders location. It's very large so it has a great selection. There is a really nice coffee place inside as well. I like to get a cup of coffee and just wander around for awhile to see what they have. They always have discount tables out and you can find some really great deals on books that way. A few times that I have been in this one there has been live music of some kind that was really neat. It means that it's not as quiet as a library but it makes for a nice atmosphere for shopping.

Big 2 story bookstore that seems to have every title.
Also have a music section, but I've never bought CD's from them. They need more help because whenever I'm in there, the line at the register is horendous.

PROS: BIG selection.
CONS: not enough staffing

This is a great place just to browse or hang out. They have a small cafe area with drinks (sorry, no booze) and a few small eats. I would much rather meet up with friends or have a meeting here than at a starbucks. It is a nice semi-quiet atmosphere with ambient music in the background. The book selection is pretty good, but I think they are a bit pricy at times.

This Borders is big and spacious. As you walk in from the parking structure, sale racks line the pathway to the front doors. The sale section is huge, although you have to dig to find something you really want to buy. Inside, the two-story bookstore has everything you could ever want to read. And if you don't know what you want, they have computer stations where you can look up best sellers, authors, and titles. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is also a nice cafe downstairs.

This book store is great. its spacious and has always had everything i have been looking for. there is a great coffee shop located inside the store, right next to the magazine racks.

this store has more magazines than i have ever seen - something for everyone. their world history section is plentiful. i was looking for specific info on ireland and was surprised at how many books they carried.

i love the sale books (although hit or miss) and have come away with many great, cheap books.

i also enjoy the 'chick lit' section upstairs. they carry some of my favorite authors and their latests books in paperback.

if you are teacher, watch for teacher discounts given at various points in the year.

also, the gift cards make great gifts.

Lots and lots of books. That is pretty much what this store can boast of. Of course there are lots of music and movies as well along with the standard little coffee shop. But its really about the books. If you are looking to browse and peruse then this is the place for you. If you know exactly what you are looking for it can be frustrating to find if they even have it in stock. They are helpful at ordering what they don't have, but you might as well just go to Amazon at that point and not pay tax.

I dont often shop at bookstores, but Borders on Lake is one of my top choices when I do. Borders has a large selection of books and music. The music department is great because they let you listen to all of the CDs before purchasing, which makes music selection convenient and easy. I also like the journals and sketchbooks section. While these items are sometimes overpriced, Ive been able to find classy and pretty journals that you cant find as easily elsewhere.

I highly recommend Borders for books. The one on Lake in Pasadena has a coffee shop in it, but there is a Coffee Bean right next door, so you might as well grab an awesome cup of coffee before you go read your books. I find it hard to find places to sit, but they have an awesome selection of books and a pretty good selection of music.

One of the better-organized Borders around, the bookstore offers a wide variety of books, music, and research materials. I was surprised to find "off-the-beaten-path" items and an extensive variety of foreign resources.

However, I also found the children's sections to be a bit disheveled and it was difficult to determine in which children's section one should search when attempting to find juvenille literature.

The cafe offers nice pastries and coffee but there never seem to be enough chairs or tables. You may wait 15 mintues before finding an empty seat. They do not seem to enforce a "customer only" seating policy.

Borders has more stores than Barnes & Noble in the LA area; wide selections of books, music, magazines; cozy envionment. Sitting is a small problem; I'll usually sit on the stairs. Bad thing is their coffee tastes so bad (however a Starbucks is just a block away, at Lake & California).
