As others have already said, Dr. Fries and his staff provide amazing care for animals. I've delt with Dr. Fees too and I have to say that although he absolutely does know his stuff, his doggie bedside manner isn't nearly as good as Dr. Fries.

I believe Dr. Fries works Monday/Wednesday/Friday - so if you've got a potentially stressful situation which may require a softer touch, it may be in your best interest to go on a day with Dr. Fries there. If you're going in for a routine checkup or an issue that isn't causing you or your pet any stress, there's absolutely nothing wrong with seeing Dr. Fees as he's an extremely capable vet.

The staff has always been great to me and my pups. I recommend them all the way.

I have had the best experience with the staff at Hillcrest. It was Dr. Fries who first dealt with my cat with FIP with great compassion and understanding. He and the office staff have been so supportive through the years. I have had three cats and three dogs under their care and have never had any doubts or worries with the care. I would like to comment on one of the other reviews regarding Dr. Fees. I have never had such a bad experience with him although I do find him less sympathetic than Dr. Fries. However, I do think that to not continue to support everyone else at this clinic is unfair to them.

The honest care and compassion at Hillcrest is wonderful. I highly recommend them to anyone who cares for their pets. I will have all my pets cared for by them as long as they are around.

We took our dying cat to this hospital and were very impressed with how caring and compassionate the staff was. They encourage visiting and so we could see our beloved cat a few more times before he passed away. At such sad time it makes a big difference to feel so much warmth and, for a change, we felt this place was run more like a hospital than like a bank. We mainly dealt with Dr. Fries and we really liked him. I highly recommend this vet.

From the moment that i had walked into Hillcrest it felt warm and almost had this little home feeling. The staff there was welcoming and warm.I had my cat there, he had fallen ill. He was drinking a lot of water and acting very odd. Something i had never seen him do before. The women that work upfront greeted me as if i was apart of this little family there. (Wendy, Jackie and Theresa) Wonderful people i must say, in my panic stage they made me feel better.Wendy shared with me a comforting story about her cat she had for 19 years. As it became my turn to see the doctor i was politely escorted to the room where i waited for Dr.Fries. (his name does not do him justice) He was this jolly happy guy, who you could tell was THERE FOR THE ANIMALS, just by the look in his eye.As we spoke about what the course of action to take on finding out what was wrong, I couldn't help notice his assistant Christine comforting my little guy. He enjoyed the time she spent giving her full attention to him while i payed attention to the doctor. I could tell he really liked her, she even made him give the best purr i had heard from him in a couple days (since he had started to feel sick) she was just so wonderful with him, treating him as if he was her own. We went ahead and did blood work and while the doctor was attending to my guy, Wendy being the dear that she is came in and talked to me. It was an experience i wont forget. The love, the care and the warmth i got will make me come back for as long as i have pets.Thank you to everyone at Hillcrest Pet Hospital for making my time of weakness more comforting. I got to see the little "family" there and i would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. I will continue to call them my vet for as long as i have pets.

My two cats and I have always had good experiences with the staff and Dr. Fries. I've always trusted the pet medical professionals at Hillcrest Pet Hospital to treat all animals with lots of TLC. This was always true until my cat's last visit about 2 weeks ago.

As usual, my cat and I were warmly welcomed. There was a dog, Charity ahead of us with her owner. The dog had been in discomfort and in some pain. They were put in an exam room and waited for a doctor I had never dealt with. His name is Dr. Fees. My cat and I waited in the exam room near by.

Then, the dog was taken into a backroom (next door to our exam room) while his owner waited for her in the front. The poor dog kept whining and howling, obviously in pain. I tried to keep my kitty comforted while we listened to Charity's cries and waited for our turn to see Dr. Fees.

Dr. Fees came out and told Charity's mom that she was a bit uncontrollable and needed to be sedated in order to treat her properly. (Keep in mind, I'm in the room next door with the door wide opened).

He asked her to come back in a few hours. She said ok and left. As soon as Dr.Fees returned to the dog, he began yelling at her in such an ugly way. He said, "You fu*%ing idiot! No one is anywhere near you! Shut up you idiot!"

Oh my god!! I was SHOCKED beyond words!!

My heart was in my throat, my stomach turned and I was shaking! No animal medical professional should EVER treat an animal in such a way!! Especially an animal that is ill or hurt and in pain. I immediately decided to leave with my cat. There was NO WAY I was letting that heartless, bad doctor near my baby!

I walked to the front office and told the staff I heard Dr. Fees yell and scream profanities at the dog. I know they saw the shock in my face and in the manner of my speech. I was (and still am) so angry! The office gals were very surprised and apologized. They have always been great (and Dr. Fries too), but unfortunately, one very bad seed, Dr. Fees caused me to lose all trust.

Wendy (the best office gal ever!) called me to apologize again. I knew she was sincere. In fact, we schedule an appointment with Dr. Fries. But again, Dr. Fees' behavior that I witnessed is unforgiving an unacceptable. I decided not to return at all.

I hope that Charity's mom will read this and find a new vet that will genuinely care for her.

I hope this is one incident that Karma will be in full circle.

I have been fortunate to have experienced the warmest and gentlest care received when I had to put my 9 year golden retreiver to sleep from having cancer. The staff was so nice, understanding and non-intrusive when we were with him for his last few minutes of life. They were the greatest! Also during his care with this terrible disease they were always the best. It is so hard watching your beloved pet be in pain and having to make the choice for his benefit and not yours. They were never pushy or inpatient.
