Worst place I visited in Sonoma. I was looking at a cookbook called "Cooking for two" and was about to take it over to the cash register and buy it when I got a txt message from my friends still having brunch across the street. I replied to the txt and kept looking at the book. One of the employees rushed over to me as aggressively asked me to put my phone away. She said I could not take pictures in the store without permission. I told her I was just texting my friends. She said she was sick of people "photographing her recipe books". She was livid and very rude. I showed her my pics to prove to her I was innocent and told her I had no intention to photograph her books. She said she didn't about my pictures.

It was amazing to see this kind of behavior. I had NEVER EVER in my life been treated this way. She refused t apologize and walked away. I am sure the people around us were as confused as I was with the whole situation. Is this the way they treat tourists?

I would say stay away from this place unless you want to risk the wrath of their iPhone fearing vicious staff.

The store is beautiful and the
customer service has always been great! I'm always excited to see the new displays and merchandise.
They have helped me and my family furnish our homes
with beautiful quilts and paintings of Sonoma. We love

This is one of my all-time favorite in all of northern California. When I lived nearby I would shop there frequently. Now, every time I visit from out of state I make it a point to drop by. They have such an array of unique household items that you just won't find anywhere else. Matter of fact, I've acquired numerous serving dishes/platters of one particular pattern that garner rave reviews every time I put them to use for a dinner party, casual or formal. Plus, the staff goes out of their way to be helpful and they even will box everything up and ship out of state (a convenience so I don't have to carry everything back on the plane with me).

A terrific shop that's displayed wonderfully with a large selection of items catering to very eclectic tastes ranging from whimsical to luxuriant. The buyers have excellent taste for very high quality merchandise that you'd really rather keep for yourself than give as a gift. Although the items they carry tend to be higher quality and therefore more expensive, they are comparably priced to other stores carrying the same types of items. There were a lot of unique items that I have not seen elsewhere. The customer service was friendly and available when I needed to ask a question but the saleswomen didn't hover as I took my time trying to look at everything they have in the store....and they have plenty to look at! Parking was a bit of a challenge at noon on the city square but the store was well worth circling the block a couple of times before a space opened up.

I was in Sonoma on vacation and found Summer Vine on the plaza and purchased a few rather expensive gifts for a friend back home. The items in their store are highly desirable but be leary if you have to have anything shipped! We used to live in the Bay Area and try to get to wine country once a year since leaving (we are living in Austin, TX now) and hence have to have most things shipped.

The first problem was we made our purchase on a Saturday and we were told that they would not be able to ship anything until the following Wednesday, which I thought was strange but whatever (the store two doors down shipped to us the following Monday and we had our items in TX on Thursday) and they left part of our order out of the box (the top part of a hurricane lamp), so when we called they assured us that they would get it into the mail the next day, well here I sit 26 days after making my purchase still awaiting the rest of my order. I called today and was informed that it left the store 2 days ago (apparently due to another mess up on their part and the box loosing it's label in shipping?). Needless-to-say, I'm NOT impressed with their customer service at all! My suggestion to those of you shopping on holiday is to buy only what you can carry with you back home or to take your items to a shipping store independent of them!

Pros: Beautiful pottery, great interior design accessories.

Cons: Bad customer service; apethetic, snobbish.

Summer Vine offered an interesting stopping point along the square and while some merchandise was whimsical, most could be found anywhere. Displays were put together well but two of the sales women harassed my husband for writing in his travel journal while I looked around. For a location frequented by travleres, you would think they might be a bit more aware.
