Only the best beef you can buy, prepared to perfection to exceed your expectations. We cook your USDA prime steak in a special broiler at over 1600 degrees to sear the outside and keep the inside tender and juicy. As good as our prime cuts are, we believe to truly enjoy your meal you need to have the perfect wine choice. No wonder our wine cellar is award winning, with wines to please the most discriminating palettes. Now, combine great food and drink with genuine wood and marble surroundings, and you have the ideal steakhouse.
In Short Who says you can't be south of the 710 freeway to conjure up a truly Old Hollywood experience? Like a blast from the past (in a good way), this laidback haunt has been playing host to the local power scene since 1984. Reminiscent of a posh men's club, the vibrant brass bar--replete with a black-and-white checkerboard floor--is where in-town movers and shakers throw back a cocktail (or two) while dishing on the stock market or their latest golf handicap. Anchoring the space--which includes three private dining rooms--is the piano; coupled with the din of celebrating families and boisterous businessmen, the space can get a bit noisy, but what better excuse to cozy up closer to your date in one of the barely-lit booths? Intent on providing "the best beef experience every day," the kitchen uses USDA prime, corn-fed beef that's aged to its specifications. Steak cuts like top sirloin, New York strip and rib eye are all seared to perfection by a 1,600-degree broiler while the rest of the menu features seafood options and hearty helpings of garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus dijonnaise and salads. If there's room for dessert, go for the molten-center chocolate souffle--just make sure to order it at the beginning of your meal.
I have had the best steak here , better than Maestro's , Flemming's or Morton's. If you want the BEST Rack of Lamb its at the 555.
If you havent been before and love fine quality meat this is your place!

You come for a really good rib eye or filet, but you have to try the crap cakes, they are some of the best I ever had. Great service, allow yourself time to enjoy your dinning experience with a good bottle of wine from their great selections

I loved the food (great steak!!), but didn't love the atmosphere as much, so then it didn't seem worth the price. The service was good, and we didn't have to wait long for anything.

For excellent steak, Copperhead salmon, appetizers, clam bisque, chef salads & desserts, 555 is the best! Roomy, nostalgic interior with attentive staff. Open for lunch & dinner. Outdoor patio and underground valet parking available. Located across the street from the Hilton & close to Convention Center in downtown Long Beach.
PROS: Excellent steak & salmon with underground valet parking

Nice atmosphere but the steak is OKAY
By aznstarlette
The price for a steak here at this steak house is to high for what it offers. I wasnt very please about the filet. I enjoy beef and I dont think I would come here if i craved it. The place is nice and dark. The service was great. It's a bit hidden if you dont know Long Beach and the ways around it. Again, great look but I cant say the same about the taste.

Looks nice, Long wait. Can't cook a filet
By Superdeluxe
My girlfriend and I wanted steak and to try someplace different. So we get online and found 555 East in long beach. It got a lot of good reviews and was open late enough for us to get there from the valley. The place looks great, and we were seated quickly. But that's were the good ended for us, 45 mins later the waitress comes by and asks if we want to order a few glasses of wine. The wine guy recommends the cheapest glass at $10, then we ask for another recommendation, he says the most expensive is the best, at $16 a glass it better be. Another half an hour and we order, rib eye and the filet. My girlfriend's rib eye was great. The filet was WAY under cooked, I sent it back, still under cooked, sent it back again and it comes back burnt. They offer to cook another one, I say fine, comes out WAY under cooked again. By this time I don't even care about eating this stake, but the manager comes out and asked if they could try one more time. They do and it's great, they comped my steak and the wine. So in the long run it sort-of worked out, but we will NEVER go back to 555 East. The people were nice just don't order the filet.
Pros: The place looks great, go for drinks Cons: Slow service, can't cook a filet and not cheap at all

Filets Cuts like Butter
By delyte17
They weren't kidding about the tender and juicy steaks. Of course, Medium rare is the way to go but I'm sure any temperature would be seared to perfection. Thanks to one of the best nights in Long Beach, service was excellent!
Pros: Highest quality steak Cons: not on time with reservation

Great Steak, Great Service!
By LBfoodGuy
Moving here from the midwest I have ate steak in Omaha, Kansas City, St. Louis, Chicago, Denver and some places that weren't much more than a wide place in the road. The steak at 555 rates with best of all those. Great Service Too! By the way, I am not related to any one at 555. I do love steak though.

Food sure comes out quick!

If you are use to higher standards of dining in some of the finest restaurants, this may be a bit disappointing. Service was mediocre, though the dishes came out quite promptly. However, our entrees came out before we were done with our starters and we had to make room for everything on our small table. I also had to refill my own wine glass from the bottle. I asked for my dish to be rare-medium but it was well. This is an okay place for dinner but would not consider it top in LA/OC. This is a restaurant I probably will never dine at again unless I'm down the street and craving good wine. With all this said, the wine list is pretty good and extensive.
