I WAS GIVEN A CAR THAT HAD EXPIRED TAGS AND GOT PULLED OVER BY THE POLICE AND GIVEN A TICKET THAT APARENTLY THE COMPANY WILL TAKE CARE OF.SECONDLY THE CAR SHOOK VIOLENTLY WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED.I CALLED THEM AND THEY WERE GOING TO CALL ME BACK. This is the second time I rent from Deluxe. A year ago I rented a Chrysler cruiser and I did not have any problems at all... However, last December, I rented again and this time I was disappointed because they charged me a deposit for $500 dollars!!!! Also, they charged $5 dollars extra a day for using my debit card??!!! Well, I got a Dodge avenger with high mileage and the worst thing was that it was dirty and the smell was just bad!!!!! However, I drove this vehicle for almost two weeks!! I returned it on January 3rd and I was told that my deposit would be returned right away... After reading so many bad stories, I thought that I would lose my deposit. It took them more than 2 weeks to give my money back!! I have my doubts about renting with them anymore! They just move d into a new location. I hope they improve in the future!

Unprofessional and Rude.

It takes forever to check out. Employees there maybe are making $8 an hour and they don't know the rules. Very bad customer service; very rude and low level employees. Will Never Rent from this place.

No doubt you've seen the countless complaints online about this shady company. I too was a victim to the tune of about $5,800 by this company. In order to really have an impact in bringing these bad business practices to a stop here is what has to happen:

Contact Attorney General of Californial (Edmund Brown Jr. at 800-952-225) to file a formal complaint.

Also there is a seperate investigation being conducted by http://www.consumercomplaintagency.org. I strongly urge you to contribute your experiences with them for support.

Finally, I'm funding a class action suit against this company based on my experience and the countless reviews I've read online. Looking forward to hearing from you,

Don't use this company!! They are RUDE and could care less about the customer. They are charging1000 times more than other companies for the state mandated recovery fee & when asked how they figured it, the manager Daniel got STUPID on me. Believe me I WILL be contacting the DMV Investigation unit. See Civil Code 1936.015. They are CROOKED.

My daughter left her laptop under the seat when we returned the car. We went back immediately and it was GONE. The cleaners took it and the "manager" did not help in recovering it. It was almost like he was happy the cleaners stole something. NOT OK.

I just rented a car from Deluxe last week for one day only. They gave me a 2008 Toyota, clean, not many miles on board, everything working. They asked me about the PREPAYMENT FOR THE GAS, which IT IS A SCAM I realized later. They charged me a full tank of almost 12 gallons at $2.85, total of $32 although I haven't used but 2 gals, at the most. Do not accept their "nice" offer of filling up the tank for you. Also, make sure they charge you the exact amount of $300 for security deposit and not more (like it happened to me, $400 which I made them correct immediately). They were nice and polite, but that's how the scams are, aren't they?

Watching every dime in this economy they 'looked' like the best deal. $164.00 for 8 days, great deal, right? He gets to the airport and hands them his debit card. "Oh, we have to charge you $5 a day extra if it's a debit card AND put a $400 security deposit." I just checked our account, they have debited our account for $623.00!!

I just called the company at LAX to give them a credit card instead of the debit card my husband gave them. Told them [nicely] to use my card and credit back our bank account.
"Oh, we CAN'T do that, the contract is signed. A manager will have to call you back. But I'm fairly certain he will not reverse the charges."

NEVER use this company. I'm very uneasy about getting the full deposit back and urging my husband to return the car tomorrow and use a well-known rental company instead.

"name brand" rental company other customers on the shuttle said "1st and last time i rent from deluxe". poor customer service at best. pay a bit extra and enjoy your holidays.

We rented from Deluxe three years ago and had a perfect experience. We were pleased with the vehicle that we were given and the price was half of what our travel buddies paid. We were pleased with the entire experience. I'm surprised by the reveiws I'm reading because we are flying into LAX in a couple of months and Deluxe has the best rental price AGAIN.

I could not agree more with these reviews. I got a parking ticket and Deluxe charged me $125 over the cost of the parking ticket with no notice. Also, the car was hit while parked and I was communicating with their claims department about the paperwork that needed to be filed with my credit card company to cover the claim and in the midst of this they charged my credit card over $1000 for the full cost of the damage. With no notice again. Are they just going to keep charging my credit card forever? Unbelievable. Horrible company. Stay far far away.

I rented a car for two days in February from Deluxe Rent-A-Car. Not only did I have to wait an incredibly long time at check-in, but I called for 30 minutes to change my check-out and never got an answer.

Deluxe Rent-A-Car charged me an additional $375!!! I got a parking ticket, which I paid, but I still received a bill from Deluxe Rent-A-Car for $534 two months later. I called and reached the General Manager, Alex Mackey. He said that he doesn't handle the payment of parking tickets or the fees assessed by Deluxe Rent-A-Car, but he refused to give me another point of contact. I lost the receipt when I moved (the reason for needing a rental car); I looked everywhere. I called him back to say that I couldn't locate the receipt. He said that the $375 in fees from would stand.

A simple email or call before blindly charging me $375, OR being willing to work with me afterwards would have gone a long way. Now I am out the original ticket payment AND $534.

The owner of a Rental Car Agency can? and John Hennessy thru Deluxe Rent A Car did?for nearly two years, and even continued to do so for 3mo. after his Beverly Hills attorney??s were notified about the fraud. In fact during this fraud he was so blatantly, arrogantly, unconcerned he just changed the name of and continued the fraud. Being part of the ??Rental Car Cartel? provides some protection because their records are protected by the Board that governs them?and run by them! Check your reciept for false charges and contact the FTC, California agencies wont do anything as their hands are tied due to special interest issues

The effect of Deluxe's 450 cars rented to people who were ??fraudulently charged? on average of $40@ 13.3% or $2394 per day. That could add up to $873,810 per year of money that would have gone to LAWA.

There is a young lady from Texas who came to Los Angeles named Ashley who contacted me through one of the forums in my efforts to expose this company. Ashley and boyfriend came to LA to see a 3 day concert. Deluxe rented Her a "Guaranteed 2007-2008" that was a 2006 with tags that expired 03/07 that had a fraudulent temp registration that said it was a 2008 and first put on the road 11/07. She was pulled over and the car got impounded and she missed her 1st day of performers. When she returned the car they said they would take care of her ticket... needless to say she now has recieved a FTA and a $808 fine and a collection letter.

I rented a vehicle from Deluxe for several days. Months later I noticed a string of incremental and increasing unauthorized charges stemming from this company, totaling nearly $5,800!!! I tried contacting them via their "contact form" on thier website many times without response. I did the same via fax, no response. I left many messages requesting a manager to call back and nothing. When I could get an answer, a manager is never in or available nor could the one answering the phones give me a direct name or extension of someone in charge. From here, I'm going to get in touch with every one of the MANY victims that have reported their story online. I will do all in my power to bring this company to justice. The funds that were taken from my account were my federal financial aid awarded to me via grants/scholarships for my senior year at UCF. Not cool to say the very least.

IMPORTANT (how to bring this to a stop) After being in touch with the Attorney General Of California (Edmund G Brown Jr. 800-952-5225) I've been advised that for them to take action on behalf of the people, they need the people to file formal complaints witht their office and not just venting their bad experiences online in these review sections. PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO DO SO. Also, my attorney is in the process of filing a class actions suit against this company and same rule applies: "there is power in numbers", so, please take this as my friendly invite to all the vicims out there to piggy back on this lawsuit against this company and we will bring them to a stop, hopefully with some compensation for our head aches.

LIES! LIES! and more LIES! They lie about having to purchase the insurance. You pretty much have no choice of NOT purchasing it since they ask you to have your personal car insurance's declaration form which takes days to generate and some insurance companies even charge money for it. They are rude! Car's are dirty...go to Enterprise! You will get the same rates (cheaper since you don't have to buy the insurance) w/ 100x better Customer Service!
