Capable of what no one else can do properly !

by Michael Q.

i lived in Pasadena for several year i trusted exceptionally valuable fine table linens to them for cleaning and was always 1000% satisfied regardless of price . I never had to worry what they would do to them because i knew they would handle them properly in ways conventional /regular dry cleaners no nothing about , I now live in Portland Oregon and i will be sending my table lines back to Calif for cleaning and care by these true professionals

French Hand Laundry know their craft!

by Diana M.

It is so refreshing to find a company that knows the forgotten art of actually cleaning properly! I've been a customer for 10 yrs and have sent them family heirlooms, items with fur trim, and my favorite clothes, and every time it comes back perfectly. I think we're all so used to cheap 'dry cleaners' that don't do anything more than a service equal to 10 minutes in your dryer with a fabric softener sheet and are, accordingly, as cheap! AND act like having your clothes damaged when they are cleaned is an accepted risk(!)If you care for it, take it to FHL, if you don't, take it anywhere else.

Great cleaning, but expensive

by K B. | insider Insider | Rank: 32,615

I've been trying various dry cleaners in Pasadena, and I thought I'd give this place a try since I live near by. This place was nice, but its a bit inconvenient and really expensive. They said they needed a week to get my 5 items cleaned, none of which required any special care. On top of the long wait, they have strange business hours (they close at 4:45 pm on week nights) so it took me a few extra days to find the time to come in during their business hours. When I finally got my clothes back, I was shocked that the bill came to nearly $80. The clothes looked beautiful, but for the price I paid, I hope they repel dirt and stains. I would take special items here (suades, antiques, etc..) but I don't plan to make them my regular cleaner.

Take that special item here FIRST

by Lynn S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,937

The ladies at French Hand Laundry know the chemistry behind their craft and formulate specifically for various fabrics and materials. They can also mend and clean things you didn't think could be fixed although my experience is with getting a water spot out of satin which they said had not been successful - but looked 100% better to me so I could wear the top again. They also care for the clothing of the Autrey Museum and the day I went in, several of Madonna's costumes were hanging to be cleaned and archived in her collection. Park on the street. Not inexpensive enough for all my cleaning.

PROS: knowledge and skill with unique situations, choice of museums
CONS: not the cheapest.

Where to Take Your Mink

by P V. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,524

I managed to buy a mint-condition 1950's mink-collared coat for $5, but had to get it cleaned. I just didn't feel right about turning this gorgeous garment over to my 99-cent local dry-cleaners, so I started calling around. French Hand Laundry it turns out knows what to do with a mink! They even have contracts with museums to properly launder fabric and clothing exhibits. If you care about a garment, spring for getting it cleaned here: It won't come cheap, but you'll rest easy knowing your clothes are in the most capable hands.
