We used to frequent Dargan's regularly when they first opened 10 or so years ago. Now they've grown and have an area for pool. The food is not as good. Still a great bit of Ireland in Santa Barbara. We still stop by for a Guinness, but not so much to hang out.

Let's just say that the foods a little greasy. My brother recently pointed out that if you??re in the mood for onion rings disguised as doughnuts?this is the place for you! It??s best to go there for drinks and pool only.

I went to their Ventura location and had some great Fish & Chips. They also have some of the best Calamari I've ever eaten. Overall a very good experience!

We've gone to Dargen's a number of times. It's a fun pub to go to in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara, California, believe it or not. It's quite large too, with one area for pool playing and drinking, and the other side for drinking, dining and music! It's usually quite a lively place with lots of people. The music is terrific featuring local talent, usually with an Irish flair, of course. The dining section is fairly small, but we've enjoyed their Corned Beef and Cabbage and also Irish Stew...very tasty! Of course, you've got to have a Guinness too, while you're there. Dargen's is a favorite for locals. Slainte!

This is located on Ortega Street, but it is tricky to find. It is off of State Street too, but tucked away down a large alley near a public parking garage.

PROS: Like a bit of old Ireland in Santa Barbara
CONS: none!

Dargan's is a pretty decent Irish Pub. Average prices, open mic nights, and my ex-boyfriend really liked the corned beef and cabbage. But the best part is Quiz night on Wednesday nights. You have to call to reserve a spot before hand, because it can fill up quickly. So you get a group of friends together and hang out while competing with other tables at trivia. I do not remember if there are prizes, or you just get the glory of winningmy team never actually won.

Pros: live music, mixed crowd

Editorial from

Tucked in an alcove off downtown Santa Barbara's busy Lower State Street, Dargan's is more popular with drinkers than diners. The menu mixes traditional pub grub like shepherd's pie and Irish stew with American favorites like Cobb salad,…
