What can I say? It's an LA staple -- along with Musso and Franks, Mel's, Canter's, etc. The hot dogs are all great, and the variety is exhaustive. My favorite -- the Chicago, spicy Polish. You can't miss.

The chili dog is gross. I have wanted to try Pinks forever but line was always too long. Drove by last Saturday early & line was short so tried it. Really bad, sorry. Wished it lived up to the hype.

The excitement of eating a hot dog at a historic landmark, and a well talked about, and publicisized restaurant in LA, is always exciting. The food however, failed to deliver on its legacy of good food. Hot dogs are not that complicated to make, its a pretty simple set of ingredients, but who of thought that u could ruin something so simple, and charge large sums of money for a place thats earned so much press based on its legacy and location in the great city of LA. i have to say that i was genuinely dissapointed on the food, and prices of this place. My expectations were short lived. I can now say ive been there, and done that. This place will no longer be on my places to go. or must eat.

Had to try them out - was not disappointed, it was great. The chili cheese dog was so yummy. Not the healthiest of foods but hey I'm not expecting that at a hotdog restaurant :-)

Try the Bacon Chili Cheese Hotdog. The price is okay, not cheap, but great if you like messy hotdogs. I hate to wait, but if you are hungry for a hotdog, this is the place to go.

After hearing my whole life about Pinks, I decided, while on a trip memorial day 2009, to try. 11:30 AM long line. Ordered the Mayors dogs. Others ordered Chili Dogs and we ordered Chili Cheese fries. Costco has a better hot dog. Hormel has a better hot dog. ANYWHERE -Including the overpriced, left in a warming drawer in Disneyland Hot dogs - ARE BETTER. This places has to be the WORST place to get a hot dog anywhere.

Drive by the corner of La Brea and Melrose on your way to work...on your way home from work...on your way to the gym...and back...on your way to pick up that hot waitress you met last week that may or may not have given you syphilis (still waiting for the results)...whenever!! The point is, no matter when you drive by that historical intersection you are bound do see at least a hundred idiots waiting in a ridiculous line for PINKS HOTDOGS. I hate to admit it, but I was one of those idiots once. Waited 70 minutes.

I mean I would understand if Pink's was a new spot trying to get its s*** together, but Pink's will celebrate its 70th BIRTHDAY this year! 70 Years in the business and you're telling me that you can't figure out a more efficient way to keep the line moving at a friggin HOTDOG STAND? When Henry Ford started making B-24 Bombers at the height of WWII, his top assembly line was clocked at assembling a plane in ONE HOUR! Are you telling me that it took less time in 1943 to assemble an airplane than it does in 2009 to put a hotdog in a bun and pour some chili on it? I could drive to LAX, fly to JFK, grab a dog from Nathan's (Coney Island), fly back, and still see the same idiot standing in line as when I left. Figure it out Pink's. In the meantime, I sure hope I don't have syphilis.

If you're feeling nostalgic for New York dogs or Chicago dogs, or any other style dogs this is the place to go. You can also find one of the best chili dogs in town. The only thing about Pink's is that you can't go hungry or you'll starve. The lines are super long and will take about an hour or more to reach the front to order your food.

They have incredible hot dogs, kind of feel guilty eating them afterwards but they are worth it. There is usually a line but it moves fast and it gives you time to chose from the numerous hot dog selections they have. If you have people from out of town you definitely have to bring them here, this place is a landmark.

Well, I?ve lived in California for over 50 years and finally thought I would drop by an experience Pinks for the first time. As a self proclaimed aficionado master of dogs & chili, I knew that I must indulge in this well known eatery. My wife & I were in the area (The Stars Tour) this holiday period and dropped by a little before 1:00 pm, what did my wandering chili craving eyes see but a line stretching out as far as one could see. It appeared to be one of those lines (wrapped around the Matterhorn/Disneyland type) that would take at least 1 ? hours to navigate/endure/survive to the promised yummy culinary land of wieners. Since I?m semi-curmudgeonly, I did what any true card carrying member of AARP would do; I drove by without even batting an eye. I hope to try again before my 100th birthday.

P.S. It sure looked yummy from the street

I am a hot dog lover and I can't tell you how many people over the years told me to eat at Pink's. I finally did, and the disappointment on my face was visible from bite number 1. I believe that no one that told me to go to Pink's ever had the hotdog at Costco. Let's start now with the many problems at Pink's and to make it easy to read--I will sequentially number them: 1) Take out a dime from your pocket. Your Pink's hotdog will not be thicker than the diameter of your dime. It will disappear between the buns. You will wonder if there is a hotdog in your bun. 2) No worries if you burnt your taste buds the day before--the Pink's hotdog is tasteless. It is the most tasteless hotdog I have ever had in over 35 years of eating hotdogs all over the world, on streets, fairs, and deli?s. 3) Be prepared for a line at all times. The staff monitors the line and will slow down service, and sometimes walk away to make sure that there is always at least two lines in front of the shack so that it looks busy and desirable to everyone passing by or waiting. 4) There are magicians working at Pink's who have made real chili disappear and reappear as watered down, tasteless slop on your hotdog. I ordered Chili! on the dog and I have no idea what that brown watery stuff was. 5) The Pink's $5.00 commandment: There shall be no hotdog on the menu that shall sell for less than $5.00. The $5.00 hotdog without anything on it at the ballpark is way, way better my friends. 6) There is nothing fun, exciting or nostalgic about eating at this dump.

So, the next time someone tells YOU to go to Pink's, claiming that it is such a great hotdog, and they have recently been there--just do one thing: DO NOT trust anything that person ever tells you about food again!

I have enjoyed hot dogs from all over the U.S. and realize that the hot dog is a fast food. I watched and listened to all the talk over Pink's hot dogs. My wife and I finally visited this establishment during the weekend of November 8th, my birthday. We waited for a while which was no big deal. The place had the feel and aroma of a cool "greasy spoon", but i never knew that i was going to eat my words. The items we ordered were smothered in a tasteless, greasy, gool. My wife took one bite of her hot dog and stopped eating. Both of us left with an awful taste in our mouths and sour stomachs as a reminder. Very disappointed.

Like so many other So Cal natives, my husband and I had to see what all the huff an puff was about this place. It is definitely worth checking out. Here's what I found:

*Polish sausage is better than the regular hot dog.

*The Pastrami Polish dog with swiss is probably their best dog (add mustard when you get it!) The pastrami is tender and not salty. Take small bites otherwise you will definitely bite off more than you can chew!

*My husband got the regular pastrami and swiss dog and he preferred the polish version.

*The chili dog was just OK- the chili really wasn't all that great, kind of bland, weinerschnitzel has better chili dogs. The 10 inch dog was very thin.

*The most fantastic onion rings I've ever had- perfect size and perfectly crunchy, not oily at all.

* Their ranch dressing is very thick as if they made it with lots of mayo. Still pretty good with the onion rings.

*They don't have fountain soda- its all canned and bottled. But that's okay they have a large variety.

* Very decent prices in general but expensive considering its for a hot dog. My polish pastrami was 5.80. But considering ball parks sell their plain hot dogs for around the same price or more- not bad at all!

*Clean restrooms but you need a key.

*LONG line- we waited about 1hr and 20 min. on an early saturday evening

* The area is pretty safe and on the verge of being a hip part of town judging by the boutiques shops.

*CASH ONLY

*The line does move pretty fast considering the hundreds of people.

*Tiny indoor seating area (like 4 or 5 tables), the rest is out door seating.

* Parking lot is usually full so you have to find parking elsewhere and walk

*Overall, I can see why people think its over rated. Just go with an open mind.

*Pleasant staff- just in a hurry, thats all!!

Eversince I heard about Pinks on the Food Network I dreamt about eating one of their famous hotdogs. The experience of being in line with all the other eager customers was fun; ordering was fun, but tasting the hot dog was the worst. I was so disappointed. The chili dog sauce was the worst I've ever tasted. It tasted like it was just a bunch of low quality, bland, oily gross chorizo. The wiener, I got the twelve inch, was tough and was so gross the taste actually made me and my husband gag. I couldn't eat even a quarter of it. Guess my dream dog was acutally a nightmare dog!

I cannot believe this joint continues to win awards year after year. Next time you go, pay attention, they simply open a package of hot dogs and dump them into a steam table. The chili is mediocre and they have the most tasteless guac I have ever had. There are so many better places out there to get a decent hotdog.

I don't know what the other negative people are thinking but the hotdogs are juicy and flavorful. Pink's offers tons of varieties (including the more healthy turkey dog) and has even branched out into burritos and burgers. Pink's is famous not only because it's been around so long that it's become a L.A. landmark.... it's famous because the food is so darn good!

I don't know where some of these reviewers are coming from...Pink's offers the most generous portions of ANY hot dog stand, the dogs are so fresh...what do you expect when they serve over 2,000 everyday and have to cook small batches due to their small kitchen. The dogs are 100% natural casing, no by-products just 100% BEEF, or they offer turkey dogs or veggie dogs. Best onion rings and fries EVER! Very low prices too...I know the lines are long, but there are times throughout the day when I go when there are very few people in line. If you go right at the lunch hour or right at dinner, what do you expect? PINK'S IS THE BEST!!!

Iv lived in Los angeles by whole life and I always pass by this place and the line is always long. So on Saturday night i wanted to see what the fuss was about!! My sister and I went and waited an hour and a half in line. We ordered everything because we had waited so long I wanted to try everything that looked good.

The food is nothing crazy. Tommys has better chili dogs. Their hot dogs are the same generic ones that every other place uses. I think cupids uses the same brand and I think tommys does too. The other specialty hot dogs were nothing crazy either I can make them at home.

The food is cheap though I give them that. If it wasn't a 2 hour wait I would go to the place again but definitely not worth the hype

I've lived here for almost 2 years and have always wanted to try it and finally my friends and I did last night. Waited for over and hour and thought the wait would be worth it, but we were all completely disappointed. Our dogs were not cooked and it touch to bite through and the it had NO flavor. Please don't waste your time standing in this ridiculously long line just to be disappointed.

It was a Hot Day in April 2008 in the 100's or so and we had to wait in this line for ever. You order them then you are back in line again to pay. Make sure you bring Cash only. Parking sucks here.

The only thing I didn't like was the long wait in line. But if you go at night I always see hot girls in the vicinity. I always order the burrito pastrami dog, its incredible. Their onion rings gotta be the best I ever tasted. HIGH fat content food so unless you are very active or have a high metabolism this food is only meant to be eaten on occasion.
Also, I sent an email to Pink's complimenting their food and they mail me two $5 gift certificates with no expiration date

Worst chili dogs i've ever had! We figured since we were gonna wait in line for 1 1/2 hours might as well order everything we want to try. So we ordered 4 of their specialty dogs and 1 traditional chili dog (its what put them on the map....must be good, right?) Took one bite of each and threw the rest away, even the infamous chili dog. Was sick the rest of the day. Can only imagine if we would have eaten a whole dog...would have met the end for sure. Lesson learned, wont be returning. These people are making a killing...good for them.

I don't know what the folks that said they accept credit cards were smoking, but I guess that's why they should up at this LA staple for late night dining. I hadn't been to Pink's in years, but visited them again this past Saturday / Sunday morning at 2am to find the chili cheese dogs were still delicious, the lines still long, the crowd dressed for cubbing and recovering from a little too much to drink. Between the drunkards and the wild car accident down the street that I missed by seconds from being involved in myself, I can say the atmosphere was, errr, interesting?!?!?! So, why did I come back to Pink's after a decade and now slightly past my early twenties? My Virginian-born and raised GF who caught Tyra's recommendation on the tube. Hmmmmm ... I wonder if www.seenon has an affiliate link to Pink's web site (www.pinkshollywood )?

Pick's is worth a visit because it is one of LA's things to do. Kind of like cupcakes at Magnolia in Nueva York.

I'd heard of Pink's for years, and decided to try them out a couple of weeks ago when we were in L.A. from San Diego. The wait in line (outside on the sidewalk) was long, but it didn't matter once we sat down to eat. The portions are huge and very reasonable. I had the signature chili cheese dog and a Martha Stewart (10-inch dog with relish, onions, bacon, chopped tomatoes, sauerkraut and sour cream). My wife isn't the hot dog fiend that I am, but she really enjoyed her mild Polish dog. And the onion rings are fantastic - reminded me of White Castle's, if you know them. If you get the chance, go!

Being a LA native, I've been going to Pinks since I was a teenager. Being a Baby Boomer and now health conscious, I eat here every couple of years. Plus the lines are usually too long to wait. But I got off work early and passing Pinks I saw about a 15 minute wait, so I decided to take advantage of it. As someone else said, the chili is not what it used to be. Not as flavorful. But the dog is still good. I had mine with kraut, which was flavorful. Got into a conversation with a gentleman from the O.C., who also around my age. We reminisced about the old Pinks. Today the burgers may be more tasty than the dogs, but if you have the time, because there's always a line, and don't have too many cholesterol problems, this is the place to go.

And yet another example that Hollywood people will eat anything.

Seriously, the food at Pinks was really low quality. I grew up in Montreal, lived in Toronto and have eaten the dogs off of many a NYC street corner. For those expecting a juicey Hot Dog, grilled or streamed, with some flavor, get ready for a taste-bud shocker instead. The hot dogs are rubberized at Pinks and bear no similarity to anything Shopsy's or any deli for that matter would serve up. I was shocked at the cheap meat used. Even in Montreal, La Fleurs (one of the cheapest meals you can have) has some great Hot Dogs. The bread was also dry.

Pinks is just another example on the decadent stupidity of our good friends in LA LA Land. The only people laughing are the mexicans who work here most of whom are probably in shock that these dum-asses keep eating the garbage they're serving up. A contemptuous experience at best. The only worse time I had over a 2 hour period was watching an Antonioni movie once.

You know, it's kind of funny but at the same time a shame that so many people can gripe so harshly about the hot dogs at Pink's. First of all, let's ask ourselves one question, "what is a hot dog?", it 's not a fine piece of steak or a piece of prime rib, it's a hot dog! And like they say, we all know what hot dogs are made of. One person's review even said that it grossed them out when the dog popped when bitten. Little did they know that, believe it or not, this indicates that the hot dog was made with a natural casing and all of the better, custom made franks are like that. Let's face it, no matter how you compare, a place like Pink's serves up hot dogs made especially for them by Hoffy and they offer them to their customers with just about any variation of toppings and extras you would want on your hot dog. What more could you ask for in a hot dog? Why eat at Pink's instead of somewhere like Wienerschnitzel that is faster and cheaper? Because the fast food hot dog stands actually DO serve up the infamous mass produced garbage hot dogs, that actually are made of "you know what". Yes there is a wait when you go to Pink's but look at all the people that do stand in line and they do it because they know. Give it a try and experience a good hot dog with a little nostalgia thrown in. Unless you're a picky complainer and acutally do like hot dogs, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

If you are expecting table cloths and special treatment you won't like "Pinks" however the Valet service was EXCEPTIONAL! Better Hot Dogs somewhere else? Maybe but it is a matter of taste, some people think Chicago Style Hot Dogs in Chicago are the greatest, But I wouldn't walk across the street for one, but I have and will stand in line for a "Pinks." The endless lines are a testiment to how good these dogs are. I am sure some people are put off by the lines. BUT OPEN UP enjoy the experience and meet new people while you are in line and ENJOY life! Who knows you might make a friend, but you have to get your nose out of the air. LOVE "PINKS"

Reviews raving about Pink's hotdogs were Hollywood hype. If the stars think these hot dogs are great, they haven't eaten very many hotdogs. These were awfullllllll!!!!!! They were sooo tough you could hardly bite into them. They were like leather. My son loves hot dogs and he couldn't choke these down I was extremely disappointed. I have eaten hot dogs from the street vendors in New York City, and at ball parks across the country, and any of them easily put Pink's hotdogs to shame.

I went to Pink's Hot Dogs since I love hot dogs and have heard a bunch of hype about Pink's. I figured the hot dogs must be good, and decided to wait in the long line... which ended up taking about 2 hours. Finally, we got some hot dogs, and I tried two different kinds, both of which were terrible. I'd honestly say below average. Seriously, the hot dogs at Costco and Home Depot are MUCH better, and I will NEVER eat at Pink's again.

One of my ex-boyfriends introduced me to this place! I love having the chili, bacon and onions hot dog, as well as the lord of the rings hot dog! There are also other good choices here. The line maybe long, but the food is worth it. I am also amazed at how well the staff can remember your order without writing it down!

Pinks has been in Hollywood for years. I have gone when they had 25 cent sales on their dogs on the anniversaries of the stores years in Hollywood. They have some of the best hot dogs and topping. Definitely would recommend.

Pinks is a great Hollywood staple. Open since the 30's with a reputation for great dogs. And they are!! I wish it was a bigger establishment because the lines are always looong no matter what time a day you go. But it's worth it!!

Pink's is a world famous hot dog stand. They have the Best chili dogs here. There is a little patio to sit at in the back, but it's not fine dining - just good grub.

These are for sure the best hot dogs in LA. If these is any place that you go in LA, this must be one of your stops. Dont expect fancy tables, or restaurant, but the how dogs are amazing. I go there everytime after a night of Partying since they are open late. They have so many choices, and all kinds of combination.

Long line, long wait, bought two bacon chili dogs, ate one, worst hot dog I have ever eaten, threw the other away. The hot dog has some kind of thick skin, which might have been OK, but the chili made it hard to even get down. This can not be the hot dog and chili that made this place famous.....

Nastiest hot dogs in LA! Poor quality, cheap, lips and anuses, SERIOUSLY. Don't bother waiting in line. You're better off picking some up at the grocery store, even the bacon-wrapped hot dogs on Hollywood Blvd are better. Yuck.

I recently moved here from MI and I had to stop by Pink's for the famous hot dog. I went with the traditional chili cheese dog. The dog and bun were great. The chili is not the best, my hometown has a drive-in rootbeer stand that makes their own chili that is better. It's just not that great. besides that the menu items, atmosphere and nostalgia are well worth a stop.

Even though I have lived in the greater Los Angeles area most of my life, I had never gone to Pink's even though I had known about Pink's for some time. Then I Saw Pink's on Huell Howser one day while channel surfing. Looked interesting enough, so I looked them up here at city search and read over 50 reviews. Most of the reviews were very favorible but there were a handful that just couldn't speak bad enough about Pink's. I thought this was worth a personel investigation. I went there on a Friday with my wife and son. There was a horrendous line when we got there, just like has been mentioned in many of the reviews. We figured we would stick it out and see what all these people are willing to wait for in a line of this proportion, By the way, with people coming constantly, the line length seemed to stay about the same during the time we were there. Their parking attendant told us 80 minutes when we joined the end of the line. It ended up being about a 40 minutes wait to the point of ordering your food. The interesting part is, the person who takes your order, prepares the entire order from start to finish. They're really hopping in that place. The prices seemed fair to me even though some people seem to feel they're expensive. Our order was, 2 chili dogs, 2 chili dogs with sauerkraut, 1- 12inch spicy dog (This was HUGE!), a chili cheese burger, 1 order of French fries and 3 beverages for about $27. The hot dogs (specially made for them by Hoffy) have that nice pop when you bite into them. Chili had just the right taste to put on a hot dog. So, if you don't mind waiting a bit and you like a tasty chili dog, check this place out for yourself and decide.

First, let me say that Pink's is not the best hot dog in L.A. That's not the reason to go. You go for the ritual, for the history, because it's at the corner of Melrose and LaBrea and because it's there waiting for you like an old friend at 2:00am. You go because the dogs ARE good in their own way. I love the Rosie's Long Island dog, with kraut and mustard. Pink's is what it is. Go, and be glad you're here to stand in line with 50 other hot dog lovers on a glorious Hollywood night to share a tradition.

I love hot dogs. Love them. But I do not understand Pink's. Yes, I have found a place where I do not love--even like--the hot dogs. How do you not make a good hot dog? Listen, they must be doing something right, considering there is a consistent corrall of people outside, a waiting line longer than that for the ladies' room at a packed bar. I ordered a plain hot dog, mustard, ketchup, the usual--it was not good. Not good enough for the line; not good enough ever, in fact. These are apparently "real" hot dogs. The skin casing snaps when you bite into them. That's a turn off for me. It scared me. It made me not feel good in my belly. I was reminded that a hot dog was made of something that I'm not really sure about. Bottomline: I love hot dogs. I don't love Pink's. I have never gone back.

i don't know about the regular hot dogs there, but the spicy polish dogs are fantastic! you get that famous "snap" when you bite into it and it's soooo tasty. definitely recommended!

This food is sooooo gooooood... I had 2 chili dogs and had a bite of the Mulholland Drive dog... sooo good, and I know all about eating. Im originally from Chicago, which has great food, and of course Vegas has great food, so I think I know my stuff. I would wait all day to eat their food. Its such a long line because the food is good, and they cook it right in front of you. I cant wait to go back to L.A. because this is the first place I'm going to. I highly recommend it, and I think waiting in line is part of the fun. You get to see and absorb the culture surrounding the hot dog stand. I 100 percent recommend going there, and if other people are complaining about the wait, then they're obviously lazy and not outgoing. See you there!

This has got to be the WORST hot dog I have ever eaten. This place is definitely over-hyped. I would like to know why people stand in line for this horrible food. I just moved to L.A. 2 months ago about a block and a half from Pinks. There was always a line wrapping around Pinks any night of the week,, and the reason I've come to find out is this: stupid Americans with non existent food standards who follow the herd, even if it means waiting an hour for the worst hot dogs ever. The people who put 5 stars on this place are idiots who are clueless about quality food, so don't buy it. If I could rate this place NEGATIVE 5 stars, I would. Seriously, the food is that bad. Pinks is probably one of the worst meals you could put in your body.

The service was fine, but the wait was about 45 minutes to an hour. By the time my boyfriend and I got to the front of the line, we were pretty hungry and WANTED to like it. We thought, like many do, that a line wrapping around the building meant there was food worth waiting for inside. Couldn't have been more wrong. I stopped eating with about 3-4 inches of hotdog still left.

The 'cheese' was the canned nacho variety. The mushrooms: also canned, and barely heated. The franks, nothing special. The buns: cheap white bread type. And as other reviews below have confirmed, I imagine the other stuff on the menu is just as bad. All together, for two dogs and two sodas and a side of onion rings, $16. I've had much more satisfying hot dog experiences at Weinerschnitzel and corner sidewalk vendors downtown.

The celebrities aren't eating here, I can quarantee you that. It's all hype and I'll never do it again, and I plan to tell anyone who wants to know just how bad the food was. In fact, we were so unsatisfied that we made our own hotdogs the next night that were a million times better. Don't waste your time or money at Pinks. It's truly baffling that they're still in business after all these years.

The hotdog was very thin. About the diameter of a vienna sausage, maybe thinner. The beer-battered onion rings were very good, but not much better than any other beer-battered onion rings. This place is total BS and hype. I don't know why so many celebs like to eat here. I have a suspicion that when the workers see a celebrity in line (if they even have to wait in line), that is when they bring out the 'real' hotdogs. Either that or celebs don't know anything about what makes a good hotdog.

Honestly this is the worst hot dog Ive ever had, Costco dogs are better than these, even Target dogs are better, I dont know what people see in this place, the wait is too long, there is never any parking, and the food is gross, dont waste your time, you can have a better hot dog at Wienerschnitzel or Costco, and a lot cheaper....Dont waste your time, especially if your from out of town, I will never go back there or recommend to anyone, I wouldnt even let my dog eat there....

I am a huge hot dog fanatic and have tried them all over and whenever I can see one on the menu no matter where I am but this dog really kicks my mouths a*s, I have had better chili before but this chili is still pretty damn good, I love the variety of dogs, the wait does su*k but well worth it, the dogs are pretty big, but the burrito dogs wow they actually rock I was scared of trying them but wow I could not get enough of it, it is not messy and delicious.

I have heard about this place for years and all I can say is that it was NOT worth waiting for!!!

The long was very long and was anticipating a "melt in your mouth" experience and that, it was not!

The flavour (if you can call it that) was less then desireable and I can honestly not comprehend how people can actually call this the best they have had!

I will not be back and I will continue my search for the best hotdog in the city!

Ok, I do not understand how this place has been in business so long. It has the absolute worst hot dogs I have ever had!! I saw them on the Food TV Network before visiting LA and saw them rant and rave about how good these hot dogs were. So you can imagine my disappointment when I got my Chili Cheese dog and it tasted like something out of a vending machine!! I mean I get better hot dogs going to a street vendor and paying a 3rd of the price of this place!

The hot dog was almost flavorless, the bun soggy, and the Chili was worse than Hormel Chilli in a can!! I'm sorry, but a place that is supposed to be as popular as they make it sound, could at least make decent homemade chili or buy decent canned chili!! jeeeeez!!! I don't quite understand how people can form such a long line outside this place and wait for 30 - 45 minutes, when they can go home and make a better hot dog in under 10 minutes!! What a waste of money and my time while on vacation!!

This was the worst experience of my life. We waited in line for more than 30 minutes for an overpriced hotdog. And that's all it was. It's a complete tourist trap. Tourists come to LA and think they are going to see celebrities at Pink's, but in reality they wouldn't go near that place. I went because I had family "tourists" who wanted to try it. Having lived in LA for five years now, I went for the first time a few weeks ago. What a waste of time and money. You stand in line for 45 mins to get a small hot dog that's $4 bucks. Dogs on the streets of Manhattan are $1.50 and way better. The french fries were greasy and I can't see what all the hype is about. I think it's for out-of-town tourists who want to go because of the bs myth that celebrities ate/eat there. So it's a bunch of wannabees that do it for the sake of saying they ate at the legendary Pink's. Two hot dogs with sauerkraut and mustard, a small french fries and soda set me back $11 bucks. The hot dogs aren't even the mnore expensive beef ones like say a boars head or something. They're cheap, BAD FOR YOU, FATTY DOGS, sold at a PREMIUM GOURMAND PRICE POINT. Don't bother. I personally feel like I reached a foodie low point by being dumb enough to wait on that line. The next time I drive by and see the line, I'm going to yell out to the morons that they're wasting their time and money.

Pinks has the absolute best hot dogs in Los Angeles. The line is worth the wait and it's a great place to take someone if you have some catching up to do. One thing i noticed was that their autographs on the wall are duplicated, so not all of them are wrong. Expect to wait an average of 30 minutes, if not more if you go at a bad time: dinner time, after 2AM, lunch time...any day.

Having said that, stop complaining about waiting in line. Waiting in line is half the experience at Pink's, just deal with it and order your hot dog. Then you can go back to Nebraska and tell everyone at the next company picnic how you ate down the street from where Eddie Murphy bought his trannie "lady-of-the-night". Oh yeah, and Rosie O'donnell eats there so often (no way!!!) they named a special after her...big surprise (pun intended)

The dogs are good, but don't expect them to compare to NYC street vendors, Coney Islands, or Weiner Circle in Chicago (these places don't serve hot dogs, they serve heaven in a bun....especially if you're hammered). In my opinion, it might just be the best hot dog place in LA, but if someone argued with me I wouldn't put up much of a fight.

The BEST part, as mentioned, is the CHILI. If you leave without having a NACHO CHILI CHEESE DOG, you're a fool for waiting in line anyway.

At Larry's Chili Dog, you don't have to wait in line and no more than 7 mins for food on the most busy days. The food is something else! The chili-dogs are good and so are the chili-cheese burgers! I love this place when I'm craving something greasy! However I became very disappointed when a woman who was on crutches was made to wait in line. This woman has MS and could hardly stay up. I think she should have been allowed to cut! Want happened to handicapped accessible? The manager said she wasn't special and had to wait like the rest.

Then came my turn to be horrified by the manager. I had surgery and I hadn't had a real bite to eat in two days! I was craving a dog after I left cedars still in lots of pain and not able to really walk. I ask my boyfriend to take me there thinking the wait wouldn't be that bad or that they might have a heart and allow me to cut so I could get home considering I was hurting and drugged! Well of course they didn't allow me to cut! Pretty cruel! I ended up waiting in the car in pain alone while he waited in line.

We visited LA over spring break and wanted to try a dog at Pink's after seeing it highlighted on a Food Network show. Yes, there was a wait. Was the dog worth the wait. NO! The hotdogs are bland and not that great. Actually, the burgers looked like they would be much better than the hotdogs. Pink's hotdogs just don't beat the delicious dogs that I was raised on in New York. I'll stick to my New York street vendor dogs over Pink's any day!

I had heard and read so much about Pink's that I had to give it a try. After waiting in line for an hour and a half for my chili dog, the verdict was in. Definately not worth the wait! The chili texture was odd and you could see the grease floating on top of it. Also, our fries came later. We had actually finished our food when the fries showed up. To me, serving a hot dog shouldn't take that long. There must be a better way to move that line. I can't wrap my mind around what all the fuss is. One person in our group of four liked it. The rest of us would have been happier at In N Out. Never again, not worth the wait.

Had a chili dog once when someone else braved the line. I recently took my girlfriend on a Saturday night. The chili dog is enjoyable. I tasted the spicy Planet Hollywood dog - the spice overwhelms any taste of the meat. The milder version is better. The meat is tender and juicy. The fries aren't bad either. Parking is very limited.

like all the other reviews, you must wait in line. if you've driven to a club going up la brea, you'll always notice a line out front. you may have to wait for as long as an hour. the dogs taste great, but it's not the healthiest if you're concerned with that kind of stuff. again, a "must try" destination if you're in the los angeles area

Don't go and not expect to wait in line. You will wait so wear comfortable shoes. Luckily the long list of hot dogs and toppings and the people watching will keep you distracted for awhile. If you try some funky combination and don't end up liking it, don't worry. When all else fails get the chili cheese dogs. They are the best in town. Onion rings are mediocre as are the fries. I have heard the burritos are good but what would be the point when you can get a good burrito anywhere else in LA. Stick with the chili cheese dogs and as soon as you leave you will be craving more. This is definitely an experience that shouldn't be passed up if you are a visitor, especially if you find yourself roaming around LA at 1 a.m.

I'm not the biggest fan of hot dogs (you can buy them in bulk at Costco), but I decided to check this place out since it's a landmark spot in LA. When I got there with my friends, we had to stand in line for I over an hour! I was flabbergasted, but I figured it had to be worth the wait. When I got to the stand, I ordered a Harry Potter dog... the hot dogs were huge and mountainous, topped with all kinds of toppings available (bacon, guacamole, sourcream, veggies, etc. etc.), but I felt like I was going to get a heart attack after eating one. I don't think I'll be going there again anytime soon, but it's a pretty cool place though with a bunch of photos of famous Hollywood stars and just somethign you need to experience in LA.

As many times as I've been to this place, I've never had a hotdog there. My friends and I pile in the LONG LONG line along LaBrea for the same chili cheese chicken burrito, with just chili, chicken and extra cheese please, twice a month. This is a great spot to hang out and load up on calories, despite how "Hollywood" the hot dog stand has gotten.

I fancy myself a bit of a hot dog expert, so I've been waiting a few years for a trip to LA so I could try Pink's. As many others have stated, be prepared to wait on line. Thankfull there were only about 6 people ahead of us, but even then we waited for almost 15 minutes. I'm not opposed to waiting on line, but I think I was a bit frustrated at how slowly the line proceeded . I mean, you're condimenting hot dogs, how long does it take. It seemed as though the people working were just not moving very quickly - a lack of urgency if you like. You can entertain yourself while waiting by reading the descriptions of the multitude of hot dog offerings, reading all inscriptions on the celebrity photos that line every square inch and of course, people watching. We tried 2 dogs - the 10" stretch Chili Dog and the Brooklyn Pastrami Swiss Dog. The 10" Chili Dog was cooked well, had a decent snap and decent spice blend. However, the dog in the Brooklyn dog was a bit grey, tasteless and had no snap (too long in the steamer is my guess). The dogs are pretty good, not great - for my taste I like a bit more spice/flavour, snap, smoke and I'll always prefer a flatgrilled dog - Papaya King in NYC still has my heart. The place was very clean and offered a good, cheap, comfortable place for a light lunch - it was an LA landmark worthy of a stop.

it's really not the hot dogs (they're just ok) and it's certainly not the silly lines that surround the place from morning til night that brings me back to pink's. i really believe it's an LA experience that one has to try at least once. It's also one of the few places open really late where you can grab food after clubbing and get sodas in old-fashioned bottles and yoo-hoos.

I had first heard of Pinks on a TV show a few years back. I love hot dogs, and have had dogs all over. So when I went to LA last year, I had to go. This is the BEST place! I get the dog with chilli, cheease and bacon. I know, an artery clogger, but what a way to go. Everytime I'm in LA I make a special trip down to La Brea to stand in line and get one. This is definitely a go out of your way stop!

I've been thinking about Pink's since 2000 when my LA tour bus drove by the restaurant while touring the Hollywood area. Our tour guide told us that many a celebrity stops at Pink's for their unusual combinations of hotdogs and condiments, so when I had the opportunity to return to the area, Pink's was definitely a stop I planned to make.

Even though we arrived around 10:00 at night, I was surprised to see people lined up down the street. No matter...just grab a menu and starting drooling. There are so many different combinations, it takes you a long time to decide what you want. And then when you start getting close to seeing all the combinations actually being made, you start changing your mind. While the onion rings smelled absolutely delicious while we were waiting on the street, they ended up just being average in taste. The real reason to go to Pink's is for the hot dogs.

While I was less imaginative than most, I had a chili dog with onions and mustard. The best hot dog I've ever eaten, and the chili was fabulous. I just had a regular size dog, which I found to be plenty large enough, and was happy that the buns were not just ordinary buns. The bread was delicious.

I'm so happy my first Pink's experience was a pleasant one, and I do plan to visit again in the near future. Thanks to all for satisfying my craving.

ive been coming to pink's for a while now. it's a good place to eat when you're looking for something quick, late @ night. if you come on the weekends, expect a long line and a long wait. i think the wait is worth it though, for their hot dogs. their chili fries are good too! they have the most interesting hot dogs ever heh

The only reason why I waited an hour in line just to get a hot dog was because I was forced. yes the hot dog was good, but come on its only a hot dog. I could have made 100 of them at home in the time it took to finally get to the front to order. If your in a rush I sugest you go to the store buy the hot dogs and buns, go home and cook it yourself because it would be faster.

This cheap eats spot is perfect after late nights at the club, but it does get crowded. The food is DEFINITELY worth the wait! I recommend going during off-peak hours, but this is one of the best bargains for your buck!

I drove from Las Vegas, NV just to eat at Pink's! I did wait in line for about 1 hr 45 min but it was well worth the wait! If you head that way on a Sunday the meter parking is free and later at night your chance of getting closer parking is better, you will still wait in line but give it a try you'll love it

Just b/c you have to wait a long time in line doesn't mean that the food has to taste that much better; contrary to your self-centered mind, food quality and wait time do not affect each other. That said--Pink's is cheap, fun and tasty--no big whoop. Like at most LA landmarks, its about good food at a good price. And this place is it. I guess I've been lucky and never experienced THE line (but I did have to stand next to a whole bunch of USC students in line, which is bad enough).

Try the chilli fries with the nacho cheese. If only they had carne asada fries...! They have a lot of variety, with big dogs named after celebs.

So I can get my dog quicker. So you guys are upset at waiting in line? DON'T go! As far as hotdog institutions (and I have been to quite a few) this place is tops. In my humble opinion, second only to Gray's Papaya. The only problem is that they offer WAY too many combinations. If you are visiting from out of town, just go for the chili-dog. All you Martha and Rosie and Ozzie dog eaters are the ones holding up the line!! Little tip, weekends before noon, weekdays around 6PM.

I was amazed by the lack of flavor to the chili and to the hot dog itself... Wasn't worth the wait and moreover, the quality and or flavor does not compare even to the likes of a 7-11 hot dog let alone the famous hot dogs of NY or Chicago. Friend took me to this spot, after I moved to LA. I'm not so much a Hot Dog Lover (unless it's MAXWELL STREET, Chi-Town). every time we'd drive by this place there was a line of about 30 people waiting. our curiosity finally got the better of us and we broke down and gave it a shot. sooo.... after waiting for 10-15 mins we each got a hot dog and ate in the outdoor patio in back. you know, maybe it's because i'm not a big hot dog lover, but i don't see what the fuss is about, it's JUST A HOT DOG. it must be because the food is cheap and the place is open late, either that or there are a lot of people with munchies in this city.

This place serves rubber hot dogs. The chili is not anything special, nothing you can get at the other famous late-night hangout, Tommy's. I don't get why so many people line up for hot dogs that are only one-step away from being raw.

Parking is real bad in the surrounding area, lines are long (why?!), and the food is a bit pricey for a HOT DOG!

This is the place to go for the BEST DANG Hot Dog in the world. There is nothing better then a dog that when you take a bite it snaps...Pink's is world famous, every TV Talk SHow has had them on it.. Movies film there.. It is so good.. You name the topping that you want with your dog and you get it... When you order a soda you get it in a REAL BOTTLE, nothing like drinking ice cold soda from a bottle. There is aways a line, you might even bump into a movie star or 2. The indoor eating area has pictures of all the stars that have eaten there..

Maybe it's just that I didn't grow up in LA, but I just don't get Pink's. I'm all for tradition, but Pink's just doesn't measure up to its reputation. I can only chalk up the rabid allegience that people have to Pink's to misplaced sentimentality. I canmanage the long lines no problem. It's even a little exciting to wait in anticipation. But when you get to the front of the line, it's the food that just doesn't cut it -- and that's what counts! For example, their gloppy "family recipe" chili is -- according to one of the workers -- really just a thawed-out block of store-bought chili, thickened up with flour. Compare it to the chili at Skooby's or The Stand and you'll never want this mush again. (It's surprising what you can learn with a few friendlyquestions!) If there's that little care in their most popular product, imagine what's going on with the tons of other items down lower on their menu -- which all seem to be combinations of the same frozen and fried ingredients.

I love this joint. I rarely eat hotdogs but when I have the urge I love going to pinks to give myself a treat. The chili cheese hotdogs are to die for and I especially love the cute "shacklike" building the restaurant is built out of. It's adorable. There can be a bit of a line at times but overall it doesn't take too long and you can get a cheap eat.

Maybe this is because I'm from Detroit, home of Lafayette Coney Island, but I can hardly express how disappointed I was in Pink's. I can at least say that I invested the time waiting in the ridiculously long line so that I now know better and will never do so again. The hot dogs are not of good quality and neither is the chili. I choked down about 2/3 of mine and threw it away. It isn't BAD, but I certainly wouldn't call it good. Can you say "Emperor's New Clothes"? I find the chili dogs to be MUCH better at Fatburger.

Great dogs -- I personally prefer the Costco hotdogs more (and i consider myself a hot dog connisseur). These are skinnier and less juicy, but still overall good. Gray's Papaya dogs in New York are crispier (and better, I think), but they compare well with these. Although the "old-school" style in which they serve the dogs may make the experience more authentic and no-nonsense, sometimes it's hard to see so many hot dogs coming in and out of the hot water--tongs coming in and out, grabbing 1 to 10 dogs at a time-- not the most appetizing thing to see, even though I love them. Not sure if I want to wait in a line that long, either ... cause there is ALWAYS a line there.

I like the hot dogs here, it's not bad, but I'm not crazy about it and it's not the best. The best hot dog I can remember was a "Dodger Dog"!!! Overall food experience was great, they have different styles of dogs and a variety of burgers & sanwiches, I do recommend it. The worst part about it was the long line, the average wait was about 45 minutes or longer. Not worth the wait.

Okay, it is a pretty long wait in line. Especially at 2a after partying in Hollywood all nite. BUT, I have never regreted it. For those of you who want to think too much of a hot dog, you'll be let down. If you just want to have a good hot dog, you'll find it here. I love the different names they call them, like the Lord of the Rings dog (dog in 3 onion rings) and the Lakers dog (extra mustard or something). Great food and they're open late on weekends!!!

The Crew is Incredible! Other than the variety of toppings, there is nothing worth waiting in any line or going at all out of your way for. The hot dogs at 7-11 or gas stations are higher quality, the chili is nothing more than brown food colored soy mash that is flavorless. But there is and endless supply of easily pleased people in the world, so I'm sure Pink's will continue to do well.

Whether its thier chili dogs and burgers or thier expected 30 minute line at 2 o' clock in the morning, Pinks has held a place in my heart ever since my father began taking me there 25 years ago. The charm in this admittedly "Hole in the Wall" restaurant, with its quaint dining area with cover shots of well know actors that have eaten there, has provided this Pinks enthusiast with many memories. Whether it has been after a night at the Pantages Theatre, or or just passing through after a visit with friends in Thousand Oaks,(I live in Ontario,CA) Pinks had always been there and hopefully will always be there for years to come, so that someday I too can take my children there.

A must stop for all who visit Hollywood, or are just passing though...

My visit to Pink's was ruined by the horrible service. There was no line, but it was impossible to get anyone's attention. We had to go inside to finally flag someone down, and then we were reprimanded for not ordering from outside. Just placing the order was like Saving Private Ryan's first twenty minutes. everything we thought it would be! We first saw Pinks on the PBS special the hotdog show and it was the first place we knew we wanted to visit when we planned our LA trip. We were not disappointed from the vintage look and feel as you approach the lines to the wait and the experience of ordering and recieving that delicous food. Loved every second, only wish we could have fit a second visit in before we left town.

I've been living in LA for almost 3 years, and I've GOT to say Pinks is the best Hot Dog place EVER!!! I've traveled and lived in many sities as well as overseas, but theirs is absolutely delicious! It's totally perfect for those growling stumoachs, during the day and late at night. I've been during both times, but late at night is when lines are less long (the average wait is about 20-40 minutes). Even though the long lines might discourage you, it's well worth everything! I've been here over 10 times, and still love it as much as I did the first time!

There's a reason why when you ask Angelenos where to get a hot dog, they'll all almost inevitably point you towards Pink's. Not only is this place a famous local tradition, it's a fine dog! Anything you might want to put on a hot dog, they've got and they'll do it up right for you.

I had a Pink's Dog for the first time when I worked at the Coffee Bean, We had a Booth On the Santa Monica Pier and So did Pink's. So all Day we traided Ice Blendeds for the 10' footlongs with Chilly, oh my god ! I Never Had something so good in a while.

There is absolutely no other hot dog in the world like Pink's!! My absolute favorite is the footlong chili cheese dog with onions and mustard... add a little pastrami and you have a gastronomic delight!! Add some scrumptious chili cheese fries and a Bubble-Up to complete your dining enjoyment!! Of course, there is always a line at Pink's but it moves quickly and is WELL worth the wait!!

If you are looking for atmosphere, go somewhere else. If you want the best chili dogs in L.A., this is the place to go, just be prepared for a long wait if you go during lunch time.

Pink's is a very unique place. The food is very good. Pink's offers about 25 different types of Hot Dogs. I enjoy eating at Pinks, however they are so good that if I did it often I would gain weight. Also many famous people eat at Pink's so bring your camera you never know who might show up.

The food was good but it was very costly. I got a parking ticket for parking on the streets because there wasn't any room in the lot. The line was awful. I waited more than a hour for hot dogs! If you want parking tickets and heartburn, eat at pinks.

It's a good hot dog, a damn good hot dog, but to some it's just not worth the wait. If you do feel like waiting and trying a hot dog that has become an LA staple, by all means go for it. You won't regret it unless you get a rubbery, somewhat stale hot dog but even then it's still pretty good. Get a bacon wrapped hot dog and top it off with chili and onions. Goes down well with a beer.

Having lived in the L.A. area for over 2 decades I have had the opportunity to visit Pinks often. It is simply the best there is. In my travels around the country, I have tried to find a dog that comes even close. I've failed miserably.

I now live in Orlando and only wish that Pinks was in Florida. Every time I visit L.A., no matter for how long or short a time, I make a point of going to Pinks for either a Mild Polish Dog with the works or a regular chili cheese dog.

Dayum, I miss it.

For the price, Pink's can't be beat for late night dining. If you don't want to deal with the slow service at Fred 62, The Kitchen's new menu has got you down, go to Pink's. Their hot dogs rock. They're not unnecessarily thick like all those ballpark franks that taste bad. Instead, they're very flavorful. Lots of condiments available. Meet interesting people.

The only place I'd typically stand in line for a hot dog is a baseball stadium, but these are worth a wait. The line is traditionally long, but the service is quick once you order. This family-owned stand serves all-beef hot dogs, orange cheese, onion rings and too many toppings to list. The menu has lots of options (such as burgers, burrito-like hot dogs, pastrami hot dogs and even a couple of items for vegetarians), but I recommend sticking with the chili-cheese dog.

OK, so I went--partly to appease an out-of-town guest who had her heart set, partly to be able to say I've been. Pink's is an L.A. classic, as you'll read on the menu while waiting in line. And you'll have plenty of time to read. We waited in line for over an hour, with tourists, screaming kids and exhaust fumes wafting from one of the busiest intersections in the city. The dogs were hot and fully loaded, but I can't say they were worth the wait. The patio/parking lot in the back doesn't make for a great dining experience. The best part, really, was the signed picture of Richard Simmons in the tiny indoor eating area. Wait till you see what he's wearing.
