Decent place. Came with a friend of mine. We got bored of burgers and such, so we gave this place a chance. Service was nice. It's clean, for my standards at least. And pizza is, I don't know...all them taste the same to me. But we enjoyed!

I love the Michelangelo, when I came to Los Angeles, not only because the food, but because the PIANIST, GUILHERME SCHROETER - that plays film pop and CLASSICAL LIKE A CONCERT PIANIST !!!

He performs mondays tuesdays and wednesdays (sundays too) there (6 to 10pm), as well the remain days (except sundays) at HAMLET HAMBURGER`s (9201 Sunset Boulevard 90069) west hollywood`s BABY GRAND PIANO !!

He is the only one pianist that not only play jazz (like any pianist in los angeles) but also capable to play like Liberace, film themes arranged mastery, the golden era music, pop famous themes, and ever arrangements from OPERAS, and SIMPHONIES!!

Been there with 3 friends a few days ago. I've ordered the special of the day 'rack of lamb' which was barely OK, but just barely. Really hard to chew meat dunked in a thick sauce .....;-( All that for $28 !

The waitress did not allow me

This is the best most authentic Italian food I have found in LA. Family run for over 10 years and specializing in attentive service. If its not on the menu they will do it for you. Home baked breads and desserts, The best Cappelini Checca

Finally a place that offers more than the usual fried calamari, they have that too, but you also have so many choices. I recommend their BRAZINO (Sea Bass), it's huge and soooo good.

I had been planning our family reunion for months. The dates, the activities...quite the project! The first night I was told we would be 22 for dinner. We set dinner at 7, by 8:30 there were ten more! The staff that evening was so helpful. The pasta dishes were a huge success! I think we ordered all but one.
The atmosphere is gorgeous. So many details...you can tell the owners take pride in there restaurant. Our food was always ready and so well presented too! I know our family wants to make this another tradition! I recommend the hot fudge cake and ice cream for the kids, they loved it!

Right away you're greeted with a smile from everyone. We were worried we didn't have a reservation, on a Friday night, what were we thinking...They let us know that we could wait for a table inside or sit outside right away. We were anxious to be seated and we were. This place is so cute. We ordered the divina salad and grilled calamari...PERFECT. I had the veal and my friend had the gnocchis. She's Italian, so no place in LA gets it according to her...they did it right. At the last minute I sneaked away and told the hostess it was my friend's bday. All the servers and (owners) came out to sing. We had a the best time. My Italian friend finally approved. She said it felt like just like home! Thank you everyone at Michelangelo!

I used to LOVE this resturant before it move location.Good service great food small and romantic. Now u are lucky if you can get a table. It's always busy and the hostess doesnt make thing better, she is rude and just doesnt care unless you know her. Finally after waiting 2hours for a table when my food arrived it was cold and the server didnt come at all to offer water or ask if everything was fine. So i never could complain because it seem like no one cared. THEY WERE SO RUDE. NEVER will we go there again plus the parking stinks . who ever took charge of the resturant is doing a bad job keeping their loyal custermers from the neighborhood. I live around the corner, so sadly i say no to this once great resturant

"I am the biggest supporter of local, family owned joints in Silverlake. This little town is a mecca of wonderful ones and I love it! Unfortunately This one has greatly disappointed twice. First time was at the old location in the village and now the pizza we just had delivered tonight was a distant 3rd to frozen.

I am bummed because the new spot looks so inviting and romantic. I wanted ti to be spectacular, but it was anything but."

Let me start by saying i am not happy to give a bad review. My husband and I were regular's of Michelangelo's for years at their old location and I wished nothing but success for them at their new site and was very excited to see how busy they always were.
My family was in this past weekend and we thought it would be a good idea to go there for dinner. We called at 6 p.m.to get a reservation, we were told they had a table for 6:30. We all loaded into the cars and headed over. We arrived at 6:23 and when my husband approached the desk and told the hostess we were there for a 6:30 reservation she smiled and told us someone took our table. He looked at his watch and questioned this. To which she replied, with a biting smile, that it wasn't in fact a reservation, she didn't take our name. He was confused and asked, 'you don't take reservations?' She replied, 'yes we do, but it wasn't a reservation, i just told you we would have a table at 6:30'. When I asked what the point of calling in was, her response, 'so we can tell you that we would have a table at 6:30, but they took it.' Having worked in restaurants I am not sure how we didn't get an apology, how this was acceptable and how she rationalized this to herself. It was one of those moments that might not sound so bad here but leaves you gob-smacked. Needless to say we left, all piled into the cars and headed off to Cliff's Edge. So I can't comment on the food, I assume it as good as usual. But I have to say that with other amazing restaurants around the area, I won't bother with them anymore. The hostess was so snotty (and i see from other reviews I am not alone) that I, sadly, can't recommend this place anymore and i won't be going back. And if you do make a reservation...make sure they understand it is a reservation.

My husband and I regularly got delivery from the original location, and when we saw them move even closer to us, we decided to try to dine in one night. Only problem was, every time we would call for a reservation, they would nearly laugh at us over the phone as if we weren't good enough to eat there. My first attempt was two weeks after they re-opened. It was 5pm on a Saturday when I called to see if they had any availability for 2 people around 7:30 or 8. She didn't say, "no, I'm so sorry, we're all booked tonight. You're more than welcome to come by and wait for an opening." All I got was snotty attitude, "NO, we do not have any availability." I said..."nothing?" and she said "Nothing."
Ok, I told myself... so it was really soon after they re-opened...I thought I'd try again a different day.

Fast forward to two months later. I called to get some delivery. I no longer really wanted to eat there. I guess I'm just one of those people. I called on a Friday evening. This was the EXACT conversation:

Hostess: "Good evening Michelangelos"
Me: Hi, I'm calling for delivery.
Hostess: "Oh, NO. We are too busy tonight for that."
Me: Oh, I'm sorry, do you not do delivery?
Hostess: Yes, we DO, but we're too busy right now.
Me: Ooooooo-kay.
Hostess: You can pick it up? (this was a question?)
Me: No thanks, I'll be calling someplace that can actually deliver.
Hostess: Ok. good-bye
Me: Click.

I'm sorry, but the food is only moderately good...they have themselves confused with some high end Beverly Hills 5 star restaurant. My husband and I won't eat there again. Apparently this won't be all that difficult since they seem to want that very same thing.

My boyfriend and I absolutely adore Michaelangelo's. We used to walk there when they were located on Silverlake Bvd, and were devastated when they lost their lease. Where would we go for romantic dates?? Where could we go where people would remember us and welcome us with hugs?! We no longer had a "spot"!

Much to our delight, the new Michaelangelo's is even MORE romantic, with even MORE wonderful items on the menu! He loves the eggplant parmigian when it's on special (put it on the menu, guys!!) and I fell in love with the penne scampi. I don't even like seafood! Also, until they get their wine license, they don't charge for corking! We're so glad our spot is back, and better than before!

I have been going to this restaurant since they were in Silverlake and it is the BEST Italian food in Silverlake/Los Feliz/Hollywood. As a past New Yorker and visitor of Italy, this is one of the only Italian restaurants that I will eat at in Los Angeles.

The restaurant is run by a family- the grandma, her sons and daughter and now their grandchildren wait tables. They are all so nice and accommodating and work really hard. The pasta is very good and the ambiance is wonderful. It is so great to find a "real" family operated restaurant in LA- and one who's food is really good.

If anyone has been to nearby Little Dom's (who's food taste like it came out of a Spaghetti O' can) you know what I mean!

They have become extremely popular, so make sure you make a reservation on Saturday nights- or else you will have a wait!

Michelangelo's is gem! I have grown up in Silverlake and I never had dinner there but much to my delight I finally tried it at the new location and I thought it was wonderful and charming. Not a huge Italian food fan but I am a huge fan of good food and quite picky about service and freshness and it gets high marks for both. The food is fresh and delicious and comes out piping hot. It takes more than a flash to get your food because they pay attention to make sure that it is perfect and I never mind waiting as the servers and hosts are always attentive. It is a great blend of rustic and romantic but homey and comfortable. Amazing home made ravioli's, and the many Desserts!!! They're all good but my fave is the Zuccotto! Delicious!
I also love the fact that it is family owned and operated, you feel the love they put into the food and the place. The ambience is just perfect especially this time of the year when it is starting to get chilly out and you want some terrific comfort food. I can't say enough about the place, I've been there with friends twice in 2 weeks and looking forward to many more lovely dinners there. Definitely one of my new fave spots!

We had been regulars at Michelangelo's old location, and wanted to see how they fared in the new digs. Bravo! Now they've got the space and the ambience to match the food. It's a pleasure to be greeted by the family, who takes real pride in their creation. The night we were there, I had their Ahi tuna special, cooked to perfection with an array of herbs and vegetables and the arugula salad, wondrously fresh and tart with lemon and olive oil. Other guests enjoyed the Pappardelle, a house specialty, and gnocchi in pink Vodka sauce. (If you have any bread left, you'll be sopping it up!) We topped the evening off with a scrumptious dark moist chocolate cake and steaming hot cappuccinos. Hungry yet?

This is a great restaurant!! It has been a Silverlake institution for over a decade, and I have been a patron since it first opened. It has great food, a lot of charm and it epitomizes everything that is great about a place that is family owned and run. I have had some of the best meals I have ever eaten at this restaurant. Yes, you may be seated faster at the olive garden, and you may get your food faster at Tony Romas, but that is not what Michaelangelos is about. The owners are friendly and kind and really appreciative of the community that has supported them from the beginning. I know a lot of "westsiders" have been making the trek to silverlake and are expecting something other than a quaint, homey, friendly neighborhood place. My apologies to you. Some of you don't get it, I understand, and it's fine, you don't have to come back. There are plenty of other restaurants to suit your tastes. That just leaves an open table for the rest of us.

This was our first visit to this restaurant. We were excited that they opened in this location and they've made the location quite beautiful, but the food was underwhelming for the price. We enjoyed the burratta di bufala appetizer but it went downhill from there. The risotto verdure was boring, unsophisticated in taste, and not worth $19. The margherita pizza had a dull, thin sauce and the crust had a cardboard texture although the cheese was tasty and just the right amount. I also didn't appreciate paying $3 for each can of Diet Coke I ordered when most restaurants provide free refills on fountain drinks, especially when they're charging such high prices for the food. Overall we probably won't go back - with so many good restaurants in this area there's no reason to pay such high prices for such ordinary food. Finally, I tried to submit this feedback on their website and received an error on their feedback form and their e-mail address bounced my message. They need to either take down the feedback form or fix it - having a broken customer survey is worse than having none at all.

Pros: Attentive service, nice decor

Cons: Dull food, high prices

Everytime I go here, for some reason, I always order the shrimp salad. So good! Their risotto is wonderful too! They actually just moved towards the Atwater/Los Feliz area on Rowena. It's a much bigger restaurant, and thank goodness, parking! Love this place. Great homely feel. They'll even sing to you on your bday in their bday suit! Very entertaining!

I just went to have dinner yesterday at Michelangelo and I think that this restaurant offer something that no one else does; this guys have created such a familiar and authentic atmosphere inside the restaurant that combined with the elaborated and fresh dishes they made just in time!! It's amazing to have such a nice Italian music when you taste tha incredible pizza!!
By the way, about the other reviews: I had to wait a while until I got my food. I understand that the restaurant was completely full and I saw Michelangelo's brothers working hard in order to give their best to all the customers. On the other hand, I think that this is a restaurant that target people who wants to have a relaxed evening and wants to taste elaborated and finest Italian food. Those guys should understand that to offer fresh food, it will take a while in order to prepare it!!

I believe that Michelangelo's brothers are doing and amazing job. They will be working on those few issues that normally appear when you start a new business.

I wish you guys good luck! Thank you so much for let us taste those delicious pizzas! pasta! risotto! and more....

Keep going !!

This great little restaurant is one of a dying breed of family-owned establishments who prepare their food with love. It has just relocated and may be experiencing a bout of growing pains from the sound of a couple of the reviews -- they just opened less than two weeks ago! We went last night - without a reservation - and yes, had to wait a bit for a table (about 10min) - BUT we enjoyed the romantic relaxed ambiance lovingly crafted by the brothers from wood they moved from their old location (green points!).

The meal was delicious: the fresh baked bread had a slightly yeasty flavor that works great with the balsamic/ oil/ herb dipping they bring with it, the salad we shared had thin strips of their homemade mozzarella cheese over fresh baby greens(perfect amount of cheese), and the sole special was moist, garlicky and covered in chopped fresh tomatoes and young asparagus. It had a delicate smokey flavor from their wood oven that made it even better than it used to be. They had brought me rosemary and garlic roasted potatoes instead of the mashed potatoes that I ordered, but when I asked about it, they promptly brought me a huge side of their new mashed potatoes - lightly covered in melted fontina cheese - I would go back just for those mashed potatoes!

Many new things on the menu, but old standards that I crave like the ravioli radicchio are still excellent and decadent. Expanded soups and salads - looking forward to returning for lunch - will probably be easier to get a table! No liquor license yet, so take advantage of the savings while you can and bring your own chianti.

The new expanded menu and the delightful, relaxed service will get us back there again and again. This little restaurant has grown up, so make a reservation and BYOB - !

The new place looks amazing. I was very please when I found out that my favorite restaurant was re-opened. I went there on sunsay night with some friends and the place was very busy. Yes we had to wait to be sit it and yes we had to wait for the food to be served. But this come with the territory to eat good food. It was worth it. I do not care waiting to eat good food. Specially good italian food. The service was good in general. I will definitely go back to Michelangelo Ristorante.....

What a disappointment! My experience at Michaelangelo's new location was HORRIBLE!

For many months I've been monitoring this site. I love to eat, and I've worked in restaurants for more than twelve years. Now I'm sorry I ever was excited about this dump....

First the hostess was snobbish and curt. Not only to me but to the people in front of me when they were checking in! Again, having been a waiter myself for six years (fine French dining) and a barman for many years before that, I gave the hostess the benefit of the doubt. I politely asked again for a table, but with a brusque tone and condescending sneer, she dispatched my party (like the party ahead of us) to "the benches" in front of the restaurant.

I have no problem waiting for a table, especially when I don't have a reservation, but in this case, we weren't seated because of GROSS managerial incompetence. We had arrived at 6:10pm on a Sunday for a casual dinner (the place is very casual; the waiters wear soccer jerseys!), and we were to told to wait indefinitely (the hostess repeatedly refused to even estimate a timeframe for our wait--not even the generic "20-25 minutes". Worse, the restaurant was more than half empty (I counted tables)!

We waited in confusion for about 15 minutes before deciding to leave so as to opt out of any further snobbery and ineptitude (especially for their prices! Most of the pizzas cost close to $20, and the entrees can be far pricier).

Instead we enjoyed a delicious meal with excellent service at Farfalle on Hillhurst. And with Tomato Pie (mmm!), Nicky D's, and Lucifer (coming on Hillhurst) nearby, I will NEVER return to this over-priced, pretentious dump for a pizza, either.

My advice to those of you thinking of trying this massive disappointment of a new restaurant is to STAY AWAY (unless of course you enjoy waiting unnecessarily in order to be treated with condescension and rudeness while selecting meals off an over-priced menu...).

Some friends came in from NYC and we thought "wow, what a cute little place." So it began....

They said 15-20 min wait for table. 45 min. Should have taken the hint and left then.
1 HOUR for appetizers. Embarrassing.
1 HOUR for our food. Inquired about out food 30 min into the wait, and at that point they said the food would be out in a ?couple minutes? ?. and then took 30 min more.

The ONLY reason I didn't walk out was because my two friends from NYC are hippie / hipster / non-confrontational type people and they didn't want to leave. I complained 3-4 times with no response. If it's one thing I can't stand - horrible customer service puts a damper on everything else.

The food was mediocre; perhaps it would have tasted better had I not been furious. Then again, perhaps it would have tasted worse had I not been starving. Either way, the LONG wait put a huge damper on everything and I won't be going back, nor would I recommend this place to anybody else.

AND FYI, I'm not exaggerating when I say 3 HOURS. Good luck.

I decided to order a pizza because this place came so highly recommended. I ordered a mushroom and pepperoni which I figured was basic enough not to mess up. Overall it was pretty average and a little greasy. The thin crust was good, they used fresh ingredients, but overall it was pretty average stuff and not worth the drive from the Westside. If I'm ever in the neighborhood for other reasons I might stop by and try one of their pastas. The restaurant seemed like a nice neighborhood place with a good vibe, but their pizza is nothing special. I can't figure out why it was ranked so highly on so many reviews (perhaps they live close by). Maybe I caught them on an off night? Oh and the parking is nightmarish!

What a great find! All of the food we ordered was just wonderful and we're sure it was because of the quality of the charming and caring staff. My friends and I ordered a bit of everything -- two pizzas, gnocci and manicotti with garlic bread, salads and soup... all of it was so tasty. I wanted to sit outside since they had a nice set-up in front of the store but my wife thought the inside was cosy and romantic. We will definitely dine here agan!

I went there for my birthday with a group of about 8 friends and we had an excellent time. The service was very friendly and accommodating and everyone loved their food. The staff even serenaded me with an Italian birthday rendition. Tucked into a quiet Silver Lake neighborhood, this restaurant is small but intimate and definitely well suited for a romantic dinner. I would suggest a reservation if you're coming with a large group.

The first time I had it, I didn't know what to order. All I knew was that I was famished! The server suggested trying the Pollo alla griglia and I trusted his judgement. I cannot begin to tell you how completely satisfied and happy I was with that selection. As hungry as I was, I was ready to eat an entire pizza and disregard my diet, but with the Pollo alla griglia, I ate plenty and didn't have to feel guilty about it. It's a split boneless chicken breast deliciously seasoned accompanied by steamed veggies, roasted potatoes and a bruschetta salsa. The portion is a bit big for a regular appettite, but I cleaned my plate that day. So, tonight both my son & I are sick and I had a taste for a hot meal. I called Michelangelo's and they delivered my favorite dish ... "Pollo alla grilia"! I thought it wouldn't taste as good b/c the prior time I had it, I was starved, but now I'm convinced. This dish is delicious, filling, and healthy ... AND THEY DELIVER! But don't take my word for it. Try it and you'll see what I mean.

After reading all the fantastic reviews of this fine restaurant (and one nasty review that MUST have been written by someone who is either taking too many meds or who works for a rival eatery), I felt like chiming in with my three cents.

First off, I am from New York, born and bred, and I know good Italian food. Michelangelo's is GREAT Italian food. Their chicken parm is superb, their fettucine alfredo the best I have EVER tasted, and their raviolis are delicious. My wife loves their fish and simple pasta dishes. Their burrata is a flavorful treat not to be missed. Desserts are excellent, their tiramisu and apple torte being standouts.

My wife, my friend and I have been dining here regularly for over three years. In fact, my wife and I love it so much that one year, to celebrate our wedding anniversary, we had visited another highly-touted Italian restaurant nearer to our home. The service at that place was inconsistent, the food slightly above mediocre, the dessert uninspired. We paid our bill there ($100) and were left so unsatisfied that we drove a half-hour to Michelangelo's THAT SAME NIGHT so we could get a spectacular second meal to rescue our anniversary dinner date.

Call us gluttons, but great food is a serious business. And nobody does Italian cuisine better than the friendly folks at Michelangelo's. Go.

Michelangelo is the best Italian restaurant in Los Angeles, period. I have been to both Italy and Brooklyn as an Italian food connisseur, and the food and service here are both superb and unmatched in L.A. The cuisine here certainly stands with the best in either Italy or Brooklyn, or any little Italy's in America. The speciaty burata cheese on toasted bread appetizer is so delicious, I call ahead to make sure they have the fresh burata cheese on-hand for the evening. The staff is all family and the welcome is so warm, it's a real pick-me-up to come for dinner after a hard day's work in the busy city. It's like coming home to your Italian grandma's kitchen. There is nothing the staff won't do to accomodate you, and make the dining experience special. I am a pizza lover and they have the best thin crust pizza in town, bar none. The ingrediants are always fresh and EVERYTHING on the menu is homemade. Delicious tomato soup with cheese crusted croutons, and the fettucine alfredo is outstanding. I ask for some fresh peas and prosciuto to be added and with hesitation it was delivered to the table. Michelangelo is so special, I look forward to any evening dinner there, and when I leave I savour the wonderful taste of the food for hours afterward. They have an excellent sselection of wines, I adore the Santa Margherita Pino Bianco, as well as their selection of reds. If you are a lover of Italian food, Michelangelo is not to be missed.

I can't even get into how depressing the reviews below are. Judging from them, the authors have either never visited Italy, or perhaps Brooklyn. Suffice it to say my recent visit to this restaurant was hugely disappointing. To call what is offered here Italian food is to call an ice cube hot. It just ain't so. My rigatoni ragu was an absolute joke. The meat? Think Chef Boyardee. We're talking soggy and suspicious flecks of purported ground beef. The sauce? Along the lines of the too-sweet tang of the SpaghettiO's of my youth. My companion's alfredo dish was as pitiful. The pizzas on the table to our left looked sickly and in need of steroids. While I was hoping to locate a restaurant that could compete with the excellent Brooklyn restaurants that I recently moved away from (the fantastic Fragole of Court Street, and Savoia of Smith Street), I left this place vowing never to go back. The hunt for real Italian continues...
On a related note, while observing the trio of ostensibly Italian proprietors buzzing around the place escorting their patron-friends into seats, I noticed Spanish was being spoke. If this place is being run by Spaniards--"not that there's anything wrong with that," as Seinfeld would say--I feel hanging a warning placard over the entrance would be in order.

This is my favorite restaurant in LA. The food is extremely fresh (their pasta is handmade daily), the service is impeccable (a small family run restaurant), and the decor is well designed and very clean. I always look forward to eating here--everything is so good! Try their ravioli dishes and their calamari (it's just lightly breaded and incredibly flavorful). The bill can be a little pricey, but it is well worth it! Michelangelo is a hidden gem!
