One of the coolest art museums I have ever gone to. I liked most of the newer cartoons than some of the classic ones. Although the classic cartoons still have a strong impact to the diversity of culture and community. It's amazing how you can reach out with out using words to express meaning.

This is one of my favorite places to visit in teh city. I only discovered this museum a few months ago, but my love for it is fast growing. Its not just a pace for children to visit. It allows you to trael back in time to when cartoons were first made. It was amazing to see all of teh work and effort it takes to make one small cartoon. And I love plopping on teh funky chairs and watching old television commercials. Its a wonderful experience. I visit as often as I have time for. Don't miss out!!

The Cartoon Art Museum is like any other art museum except it features only cartoon and comic art. As a Garfield fanatic, I went there a few weeks ago to check out their Garfield exhibition. It was cool to see how much Garfields persona and look has changed from then to now. Admission isnt too expensive either, so you could visit once in a while and check out the new exhibits.

This Museum is not just for children, but more so than adults. I have heard alot abot this musuem, but everything that I heard still did not do it justice. I was competely amazed. I did not want to leave until I went through the entire museum. l loved watching old commercials. And they had perfect seatings which really made you feel like a kid. Its very cheap and well worth spending a day there. It is a fascinating place!!

I don't think anyone can leave this museum without a new admiration for cartoon art and history. Although they're fun to look at, cartoons also have a strong historical basis which the museum cleverly presents. They have classic to contemporary cartoons in their permanenet collection. In addition, they have special exhbits which change every few months, so it's recommended to go multiple times a year. The gift shop also has a great selection of alternative books and is a great place to buy gifts.
PROS: Interesting collection, great place to buy gifts
CONS: Make sure to see what days and itmes they are open

This little gem is a little hidden from view so it doesnt tend to get crowded. You could almost walk past it and not realise it was there. I have always been a big collector of comics and it was nice to see how animation and comics have developed over time. They have a pretty good collection and capture most of the essence of Cartooning.
Nice to have something thats a little different from the stuffy museums that are so proflic.

THE CARTOONS WERE SO MAGNIFICANT. THE COLOR AND ART MADE ME FEEL ALIVE. IT WAS VERY ODD AND INTERESTING. MY MONEY WAS WELL SPENT AND I WILL BE GOING BACK HERE AGAIN IN THE NEAR FUTURE. I ENJOYED MY STAY AND SO DID MY FRIENDS. IT'S A VERY NICE PLACE TO CHECK OUT FOR YOURSELF IF YOU HAVE THE FREE TIME TO. IT MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE YOU'RE SOMEWHERE ELSE.

I visited my friend who worked there
by Timothy L.
Ever since then, I was hooked. I kept going back to see all the old school comics and drawings. Also, the fact that thay update the gallery often is a good excuse to go back to visit to see what's new. This place is awesome for dates too - kinda quirky and offbeat, but very cool and hip.
PROS: hip, quirky
CONS: none

I love that there is a musuem when you can step back into time and see the cartoons that you loved as a child! (not to mention the new as well and how they created characters) this is a great family place to check out.

An "Only in San Francisco" style instituition, thanks to an endowment from late Peanuts creator Charles Schulz, the Cartoon Art Museum pays tribute to the humble artform that entertains millions of all ages. The ground floor features a great graphic art-centric bookstore, and upstairs inside the museum are regularly rotating exhibits featuring all the big names as well as the highly unique, unusual and unknown. Over 6000 original artworks are in the collection including everything from Lil' Abner to Zippy The Pinhead.

This place is just absolutely fabulous! It presents cartoon art and it's history in a very laid back setting. We're talking everything from the earliest printed cartoons, underground comics, editorial cartoons to television animation. Where else can you pull up a patch of carpet or plop down in a bean bag chair and watch old intro and end credits of cartoons on an old console television set? Or even see commercials of the Flintstones (Fred, Wilma and Barney) advertising a certain brand of cigarettes? The museum is closed on Mondays and certain holidays, but the first Tuesday of every month is pay what you wish day!
