We have been clients of Adobe Animal Hospital since early 2000. We use to take our pets to a clinic in Poway, now since we live in Ramona, we thought we would give Adobe a chance since our neighbor recommended them. Boy am I glad we made the switch! They are so up to date on veterinary medicine and they offer the best possible treatment. My akita recently had a tick on her shoulder, I removed it with tweezers and she became sick within days, she got sick with a tick-borne disease! Go figure, well Dr. Wood figured it out quickly and treated "Cindy" right away! Thank you Dr. Wood and staff of Adobe for saving our spoiled girl!

We have lived in Ramona for over 8 years, living in such a small community you get to know which businesses to use and which ones not to. Adobe Animal Hospital takes pride and is an honest business. Dr. Wood has been taking care of our standard poodle Isabella for 6 years and we would not take her to anyone else! Thank you Adobe for being the best vet for our girl! The Langford Family thanks you!

I am beyond irritated with this scam of a veterinarian!
Their fees are absolutely outrageous. I I didn't mind paying them the first few visits but today threw me over the top.
I started going here to get my ol' lab's ear infection treated. I spent over $300 the first visit and went home with some drops and antibiotics. The infection returned. I took her back and and dropped $400 for an ear culture and new medication. The infection returned in a month. Two weeks ago I dropped $577 for another injection, ear cleaning, drops and both types of meds. They asked me to return in two weeks for a follow-up check. That was today. I was outraged they they wanted to charge me $40 for that visit! For what?! After all the money I have spent that doesn't include a 5 minute follow up visit?!
After this review I am contacting the Better Business Bureau to fie a complaint.
THIS PLACE IS A SCAM!!!!! STAY AWAY!!!

I have a golden retriever who has severe hip problems. I use to use a clinic in El Cajon and a friend suggested I try Dr. Greer for chiropractic care. She is great! Dr. Greer comes highly recommended by other veterinarians and my previous vet in El Cajon recommended her too since I asked him if he knows her and trained her while she became certified. Thank you Dr. Greer for caring and doing a great job on our golden!

Adobe Animal Hospital ROCKS!
I went to another clinic for an ear hematoma surgery. I left very upset...My neighbor suggested I go to Adobe Animal Hospital. Sooo glad I did! Dr. Soares did the surgery the next day and it went PERFECT! I am a Nurse Practioner and I work @ Scripps and the care at the Animal Hospital is INCREDIBLE. Thank you for the surgical updates and taking the time to answer all of my questions! Gracie is happy and so am I!

To Cheryl G.
It is really sad to hear of your story. Especially since the exam is only once a year. You seem bitter about something other than this clinic. Any physician, including mine, would expect me to have a yearly physical to ensure that everything is going well. Every clinic that I have ever been to has done the same thing. I've been to the other 2 clinics in town before I began going to Adobe 11 yrs ago. One requested an exam for vaccines, and the other was just not adequate in their field and the front desk was just so hateful it was as if I was interrupting them every time I called them or walked in. Yes Adobe is a a bit more expensive, however, the doctors and staff far surpass any that I have gone to before. If you want to keep jumping clinic to clinic every year, aren't you paying for an annual exam ANYWAY? You keep skipping around, I'll keep Adobe. I don't mind paying for great care for my "kids".

We changed vets a couple of years ago after receiving poor customer service from our last vet. Since Adobe falls alphabetically at the beginning of the list we gave them a try. (That new building should be a major tip-off as to what you can expect your visit to cost.) And let me state that this 'exam' scam appears to be an industry-wide practice which began about 8 to 10 years ago. In the 80s and 90s it was the teeth cleaning scam - but you can't compel people to get their pets teeth cleaned, hence the 'annual exam' scam. Now in order for your pet to receive treatment - to even see a vet - you must pay $50 per pet, per year. You don't pay the fee, your pet won't be treated. This exam consists of nothing more than what you can expect from a scheduled appointment - check the two vitals (heart rate and temperature) and pop open you pet's mouth and exclaim, "Fluffy really needs her teeth cleaned." So what's up with this $50 fee? GREED! In an economy where everyone is feeling the pinch the veterinarian industry has come up with a rather manipulative and dishonest way to boost their bottom-line; Fluffy will become very sick - or even die - if they don't get their due. Why not work a little harder and smarter like the rest of us?

No this is a despicable practice and it's everywhere. So here's what I'm going to do in the future; when my year is up and the vet I'm currently seeing refuses to drop their registration/annual exam/WHATEVER fee, I go to the next on the list (and there are LOTS) and give them the business. Case in point; my one animal has a recurring problem that costs $30 for two minutes of a tech's time - not a vet - a tech. And she needs this treatment approximately 8 times a year - that's $240 just for this one condition, and that doesn't include any other care she may need or shots. So these business savvy people have decided to toss out a client that generates minimally $300+ dollars a year because they won't waive the $50 'annual exam' scam fee. Talk about cutting off ones nose to spite their face. And that's just one of my pets. The other we spent almost $5,000 in about a three month period. Again, not including shots or other issues this animal had and there were other issues.

Oh this wasn't our only problem with Adobe AH, expect to wait and wait and wait and then wait some more to even see a vet.

I wouldn't recommend this place; the care you will receive will be adequate but extremely costly and customer service is poor.

PS. To Gidget M.

Did you even read my review(s), Gidget? I believe I used the term "industry-wide standard". Have someone help you with the meaning of that phrase.

I also stated that I'd pay the membership fee that the next vet charges; what choice do I have? But at the end of that year - THE END - (read carefully, Gidge M.) if they refused to drop this charge, I'd go to the NEXT vet.

And Adobe is a "bit" more expensive, Gidget M.? A bit? REALLY? What's YOUR definition of a bit? TRY A LOT!

FYI: My "bitterness" results from NOT receiving an "annual exam" and being dunned at home for that non-service NOT received. That's dishonest. Just so you know, Gidget M.

I'll state this concisely so that hopefully even YOU can understand; unless Adobe expressed my dog's anal glands AND performed an "annual exam" (of REAL value) in under four minutes they were trying to shake us down to the tune of $49 in ADDITION to the actual service I received (and paid for). Naturally that's all in my "bitter" estimation. :D Much like your (supposed) experience with those nasty, "hateful" vets. QUITE A STORY THAT. A bit of the pot calling the kettle black, eh?

You know what I find curious, Gidget M., is that unlike other reviews about Adobe AH found here and elsewhere; how an owner's pet was saved and that they (the client) would NEVER consider using another vet for their "kids" future needs, yours seemed to be a reaction TO my review. Almost like you're an employee of Adobe - circle those wagons partner. I mean who else would be interested in what the public is saying about them? I'm not being reviewed - wait, I was. :D

Oh, I suppose we could believe that Adobe's clients are SO loyal and devoted that they check out (on a regular basis) what's written up in reviews on the web about their vet. Uh-huh. Right. That sounds believable. Occam's razor.

No, if you TRULY are a customer of Adobe AH, Gidget M. (and I doubt it) you are EXACTLY what they hope for - an illogical, bottomless pocketbook with feet.

ADDITIONAL NOTE ONE MONTH LATER: The first two vets I contacted as a possible replacement for Adobe AH charged 20% less for the anal expression service.

One vet charged a one-time "new customer" charge and the other vet just charges for services rendered.

WHAT A CONCEPT!

Want to guess which one got the business?

Oh, and both were "friendly" and handled my appointment in a timely fashion.

Any comment, Gidget M.?

My dog just had a tumor removal surgery last week. I was terrified the whole day when I had to leave "Jessie"! They reassured me that she was going to be ok and they would call me with updates. Well, sure enough they did call me 2 times with updates to reassure me! I am glad I had the surgery done and they truly care about your pet!

I just took our dog to this vet. I thought our old vet was too into adding on everything they could do to put up the price. But this vet feels the same way. Then they called my vet to get our records - without asking my permission. I had to go to the phone and give verbal permission for the records to be sent but I didn't have to give permission for them to be requested. Then when I asked them why they hadn't asked me, they acted like I was being rude and it's standard procedure to not get permission. I was just asking a question and don't feel like I was being confrontational, but that's how I was treated.

Excellent staff and vets!!! My dog Jake and my cat Beau will never go anywhere else while I live in Ramona. I can't say enough about the staff, they are the best. They even made a special trip to my house to drop off medicine we hadn't gotten while in the office. We had a recent scare with our dog Jake and they were terrific to us. They called to keep us updated on what was going on, to give us test results and to make sure he was doing OK. Highly recommend this vet office for both routine and emergency treatments.

I've taken all of our dogs to Adobe at one time or another, both under emergency situations and for routine care, and every time I've been there I've found the vets to be kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable. They are willing to work to keep costs down whenever possible and their primary concern is for the animal. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them!

Adobe Animal Hospital is an excellent hospital! I have been taking my rescued dog there for the last year and a half and have never had a bad experience. Always a friendly face at the counter when you arrive and all of the doctors answer all my questions and treat my dog with lots of respect and care! We had our dog neutered last year and I was a nervous wreck. I called every few hours and they always took the time to speak with me and give me detailed information. They have competitive pricing and everyone there is friendly and truly loves pets!
