Today I had my smog check done at Foothill Smog & Auto Repair. They are great!! I will recommend them to my friends!! Fast, professional and they take appointments! I was done in 25 minutes! Avo you are the best!!!!

Thank "U" Avo for bringing life back into my 1991 Toyota Camry Wgn. You performed the impossible by locating the one & only catalytic converter in California when my other mechanic (of eight years) gave up & told me to dump my car. Well guess what - I dumped my other mechanic & will go to you for regular car care until my car dies (another 10 years from now...) Sincerely, A Woo from North Hollywood

Went to Foothill Smog to get a smog check and I was amazed at how clean the place was. Avo was nice and very helpful. I was out of there in no time and on my way to work.

This place should be listed as the best smog and auto repair shop in the world!

I saw everyone else's reviews, went there, came back extremely satisfied! I went there for a smog check and the mechanic pointed out all the things that may need fixing. There was a list but SO glad he pointed these things out. Also gave good price quotes too. Parts covered by my warranty will be fixed at the dealership, and I already went at got new tires at the tire place BUT I will DEFINITELY come back to get my belt thingy (lol) replaced. Of course he was knowledgeable, but he was also patient and very willing to explain ALL the questions I had. SO HELPFUL! I feel that places like this w/ honest, helpful mechanics are so hard to find. I just moved and am too far away from my trusted auto shop who are familiar w/ my family so I am SO comforted to find a great place like this.

I took my '93 Chevy Blazer in to have Avo look at the cooling system. I'd been told I had a serious leak by the dealer which I didn't believe. Avo pressurized the system and found no leaks other than a loose radiator cap which he fixed. Nice to know a auto mechanic you can trust.

Avo needs to change the name of the shop to "best damn mechanic, honesty free of charge". I took my Lexus there on 7/31/06 to replace the main rear engine seal and the radiator fan hose. This meant removing the chassis, so I knew it would be pricey (the dealer quoted me $1700 min.). Avo not only beats the price, but when he checks out the parts the dealer cited, he exposes the fact that a cheaper part was actually required. That alone saved me $200. The whole repair cost $991 under Avo's watchful care. He did it in two days and that was because he had to order the cheaper part.

By the way, his customer service is great. When he called the rental car company to pick me up, they said they'd be over in 10 minutes. This prompted him to say "I'll drive you over myself", which meant I wouldn't be late for work. Nice. The extra touch was much appreciated.

When I first called Avo for a price quote, it was a month before I made it over to his place to get it done. He still had the quote on his computer with the pricing he originally offered. Again, he went the extra mile of documenting prices and backing them up. His thoroughness came through in the workmanship too. The car runs great after he made the repairs. He is the master of auto repair.

PROS: affordable, efficient, honest, helpful
CONS: hard to find--it is actually on Greenwood, south of Walnut

I went in to Avo awhile back so that he could take a look at my car. I was about to take a road trip and he was really fast and efficient with his work. I had my oil changed as well as a full diagnostic on my car for only $60! It was a really great deal and I was impressed. If Avo can't help you, he'll send you somewhere that can. I needed a new tire (which I didn't realize) and Avo was the one who helped me discover that my car wasn't safe. I'm going back shortly for my next oil change!

Finally, an honest mechanic! Avo was straightforward and pleasant to deal with and only worked on the items that I asked him to. I asked him if anything was wrong with the steering and he said nothing was wrong.

I have been going to Avo for smog checks for several years. He is professional, friendly, smart and his garage is immaculate. I plan on taking my cars to Avo for all my repair work as well.

I highly recommend going to Foothill for car repairs and for smog testing.
Avo will tell you what needs to be done and will quote a fair price for the work.

For months now I know my A/C and Heater Fan was out for months in my BMW. I knew nothing was wrong with any of the major components, but I needed somebody who was honest to take care of it for me. Avo is very honest and just fixed one of the circuits that was fried. All for a couple hundred of bucks. Avo has a small shop, so be prepared to leave your car there for the day. He'll fix it though. I highly recommend Avo.

Two years ago, a friend recommended Foothill Smog & Auto Repair when my air conditioner suddenly stopped working. Since my son and I were scheduled to drive to Lake Mead in three days, I really NEEDED the air conditioner fixed. The dealer gave me an estimate of $1200 so I was concerned that our vacation fund was going to be hit hard. I dropped my car off with Avo for an estimate. Within two hours he called back. The total bill? Only $282! Avo and his staff are great mechanics as well as honest ones. No one touches my car, but them.

Avo and the folks at Foothill Smog & Auto Repair are some of the best mechanics, and nicest people, I've had the pleasure to deal with. People like this are one of the reasons It's so hard to move - you'll be hard pressed to find an adequate replacement. If it ain't broke, they won't fix it. If it is broke, they'll fix it for a fair price, and Avo makes the Swiss look sloppy.

PROS: You name it.
CONS: None.

I found Foothill Smog & Auto on insiderpages and have no regret whats so ever. Service was excellent, extremely fast and reasonably priced. Avo (the owner) is knowledgeable and honest.

Strange sounds coming out of your car? Do you worry to bring your car to car shop? Worry NO MORE! This auto repair shop has wonderful and knowledgeable staff. I was amazed when I was told that there is nothing wrong with my car. They even took me for the test drive to demonstrate that there is nothing to worry about. All this, free of charge! (at least I payed for the oil change). If anything is wrong or seems to be wrong with my car, I know where to go. Great job!

Avos Awesome! Tells you EXACTLY whats wrong and EACTLY how much its gonna cost. Doesnt talk down to you and doesnt make you feel like you need to bring along your husband for a reasonable quote.

Avo's a real rarity: a repair guy you actually trust. He's down-to-earth, soft spoken, and very knowledgable. He actually told me about a possible repair, then said, "That's probably not worth the money." Can you think of another mechanic who would say that? I can't recommend him enough.

A great repair shop with an honest proprieter. I've taken my car in *convinced* that this that and the other thing was broken (in fact another mechanic told me as much), and instead of just cashing in and doing the repair, Avo checked the car out, demonstrated to me empirically that there was in fact not a problem, and sent me on my merry way. Great service for regular maintenance (oil changes, smog checks, brake jobs, etc.); always friendly and informative. The only knock against the place is thatsometimes you have to wait a couple of days to get an appointment, but that seems a relatively small price to pay for reliable service.

I've been recommending Avo (owner) to friends and coworkers for years, and they have been recommending him to others -- he's an honest mechanic that does a great job. He runs a clean and professional shop, and his rates are reasonable.

Avo will not upsell you on services. In fact, he works to minimize services and repairs that you do not need. He's not a "jiffy lube" - so you will need to make an appointment and be prepared to leave the car for the day.
