Ok I don't know where the negative reviews are coming from, but I have been taking all my pets here since 1980 (back then Broadway Animal Hospital). They are outstanding. I search for the best when it comes to my pets, and I have only gone elsewhere twice. Once to save money, bad idea. The second I searched for the best Vet to crop my dog's ears and it was in Fallbrook, that was a good choice.

I have had 3 dogs over the years get hip surgery, and if they did not they would of not been walking without VCA. Very clean and I would not recommend another Vet in East County.

Possibly the worst vet ever. Nothing but rude uncaring staff members who seem like they want nothing more from you then to take as much money as they possibly can. They have absolutely no compassion for your pet or how you feel. Every time I have been there they have been nothing but horrible to me. In between animals needing vetanary assistance I suppose I pushed it out of my mind just how awful they were the previouse visits. I will never in my life as long as I own animals take another one of my babies to these people. There are plenty of helpful animal loving vets in the area and they deserve your business more than these people. Their fancy building is not worth their over pricing and they're nasty attitude This place needs to be closed down.

I have had three bad experiences with VCA Broadway Animal Hospital. The first one was I took my cat in for a lump. The performed a biopsy and determined it was benign. a few weeks later he got very ill and we called back and they pulled his file and told us he had cancer. We would have had a chance to treat him if they had been able to read and relay the test results. Then we had to take another cat in for a nail clipping, they took him into a room and put him in contact with cats who had respiritory infections. We brought him home and unknowingly infected the other five cats in our home. Later, we brought our 13 year old cat in because she was drooling, they said she needed teeth cleaning. They did the preliminary check up and said "Wow! she has a good strong heart!" and we scheduled the appointment for the following week. They called me and told me before the procedure that she had a slight murmur, and that I had the option of a $1000.00 test to see if the dental was safe. Since they had told me a week ago how good her heart sounded, I figured they were just out for more cash. I said go ahead and clean her teeth and when I went to pick her up, she was acting like she was still sedated. I brought her home and after two hours of no change, and her not being able to use her back legs, I called and they told me to bring her back in. She had had a stroke, and they just gave her back to me like that! they didn't even check her before they popped her in the carrier and handed her back. They gave her three days of IV's at no charge but she was blind and very ill. A big difference from when I took her in the week before. The only reason it took three times before I decided not to go back is because when they had the little trailer offices, they seemed to have good, caring vets and staff, once the new building was erected, they seemed to be after only the almighty dollar.
I will give them one star for this: In August of 2009 my twenty year old cat suddenly became very ill and my regular vet was not open. I called them to see how much it would be to put him to sleep and we decided to take him. The second we arrived, tears streaming down our faces, they took us right back and let us have a few minutes alone with him and they gave us the option to stay in the room while they gave him the injections. We did of course. I thought they went pretty fast from the first shot to the second which to this day makes me wonder if the first shot even had a chance to kick in before they stopped his heart, but it was good that they helped us end his suffering right away.
I came upon this site as right now my 21 year old 'Baby' is in the final stages of renal failure and of course, my vet isn't open at 8pm. I was thinking about taking her back down to Broadway to put her to sleep, but after reading that I wasn't the only one with such serious problems, I will stay up with Baby one more night and wait for my vet to open and take her first thing in the morning. Assuming she makes it through the night.

I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. I had the WORST experience there. I stopped in to pick up my cats prescription and had my friends five-year-old daughter with me. A dog lunged forward and bit her.\r

We had to put our bunny down! So upsetting!
"Animal Medical Center" aka: A.M.C, we use to go to Broadway Animal Hospital, in fact we've brought our animals there for over 20 years, then we moved over to the new facility when some of the doctors left Broadway Animal Hospital to start a new location called "Animal Medical Center" .
Sept 11, 2008, My husband brought in our Rabbit, as she had wax built up in her left ear.
At first the check in person said: I don't think we have anyone that can work on bunny's today, she said she would go to the back and check. She came back and said we have someone. So later the Vet told my husband they would have to sedate our rabbit in order to clean her ear out. ( which we already knew) as there's no way you could get all the wax out and do a ear flush on our rabbit. She would be mad at definetly not sit still. They took her in her carry cage to the back, and they returned her in her to my husband in her carry cage. The bunny was panting very heavy, and I was afraid she may have a heart attack, as she was breathing so rapidily. We kept her room quite and I closed the blinds to get her to rest. My husband said, He's concerned about her back legs he said she's not using them, I thought it was from the sedation. We let her rest and she still wasn't moving her legs and I touched them and she didn't move them... I called the vet's office and spoke to a front office person and I asked if it was normal to not move legs after sedation. They said: No. I said she's not moving her legs at all, we we're just in today she was sedated and had her ear drained, She advised to bring bunny back into office.
I brought bunny back and was told after x-rays the bunny's back/spine is broken! OMG! AWFUL!!! SO UPSETTING!!! I asked how this could of happened to her?? A few of the girls who we're in and out, said, they don't know, but she left here fine! OMG! These individuals we're saying that to me that never even saw the bunny, or worked on her! Then the news comes.. I asked the Vet how they did the procedure. The Vet told me that the Tech (shelly) wrapped the bunny up tight in a towel and they didn't have to sedate the bunny. That the Tech(Shelly) held the bunny down while the procedure was performed! The bunny had an ear full of wax and ended up having ear mites, they had to do a ear flush and treat the mites. I said: My husband was told the bunny was getting sedated. The vet said: The tech was able to wrap her up in the towel and we didn't have to use sedation, the vet said your bunny held really still, and that she was actually surprsied how still she stayed for them! OMG!!! Ya because you broke her back hold her down!!! AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL thing to go through...
The Vet said they would refund all of our money for the procedures done earlier on the bunny. At that if we put her down when would do it for us. The Vet did feel bad, and said if you want time with her tonight she understands, and that she's off tomorrow, but will come in to be there for us and the bunny to have her put down etc...
The next morning we couldn't even bring our bunny back there again. It made us sick, it took hours and hours, and we took her to a different Vet to have her put down. We we're to disgusited with this Vet office.
NEVER TAKE YOUR ANIMALS HERE!!!

Situation 1: my parents' dog, we took him in for what we thought was arthritis pain, possibly in his hips, after treating him with pain killers they told us that it was his kidney and liver that were failing...he died two days later.
Situation 2: my room-mate's dog had a leg pain, on the first visit they gave her muscle relaxants and told her that it would help her leg, when the pain spread to her neck, she took her in for a second visit upon which a different doctor told her that the dog must have strained her neck or done something to hurt it. She said, but last week you told me it was her leg that she hurt, now her neck,...the doctor then realized that they were missing part of the records and ended up changing the diagnosis to lime disease, and treating her for that.

They just seem irresponsible when dealing with other people's loved ones, and I question their competence.

My husband and I have taken our animals to Broadway Animal Hospital for years. We liked them, but... with our recent visits to their new facility, I HIGHLY suggest that you not put your animals in their care.

They misplaced our dog for a few hours when we went to pick him up. After the initial check-up, the conclusion was that our dog needed surgery. Just this morning, we took him in for his scheduled surgery. guess what? we get there and they don't have him scheduled! This was after 2 visits to the vet last week costing us $400 each and the vet telling us that this surgery is needed immediately.

Screw this place!

I have gotten nothing but the best services from the staff of VAC Broadway Hospital. I have taken my cat there for years and she has had to stay overnight a couple of times. I know that she is in good hands. They care about your pet and you.

I have taken my pets to Broadway before and I knew they weren't the cheapest but they were friendly, kind, and caring. But, they have changed! Now they are still pricey and cold, uncaring and all the staff seem like they are very disinterested! I came around 3:30 so maybe they were tired, but they weren't too tires to take my money! I came in to check on my Senior Dog's sinus infection and possible ear infection. I got an estimate of recommended extras totaling 500.00 Um, no. And had to dig, and dig for straight answers on her symptoms. If I hadn't asked so many questions, I probably wouldn't have gotten the meds. Horrible, save your money. Oh, just a note, Animal Medical Center of El Cajon is going to merge with them, so maybe they will be crap too?!

Although the price seems to keep going up for office visits, I have been with them for a few years now and they have always taken great care of my dog and cat. Especially during those overnight visits, I know our dog was well taken care of - or at least as much as he could be in a vet's office.

GREAT customer service. They are so friendly and animal-oriented here (which is perfect, just as an animal hospital should be). I love that they care more about your pet than how much money you have in your pocket. The veterinarian takes the time to accurately diagnose your pet and treat them with the same respect a doctor would treat a person. Wonderful!
