Yes I am partial to this place because it has so many great vegetarian options! They really knows how to do vegetables right without relying on boring basic ingredients or alienating your meat eating companions. The prices are affordable

This restaurant is definitely the best Middle Eastern food I've had in LA. I went here recently with some friends, and halfway through the meal, we ended up ordering more plates because the food was so delicious! My boyfriend even commented that he has not had such amazing Middle Eastern food since his grandmother used to cook it for him. The ambience is great (nice, yet comfortable) and the service was outstanding. Everything is well-priced and street parking is easy to find. And if you go, be sure to order the Zaatar Bread...it's a must!!!

Wow is it addictive!!!!! I am a regular customer at Cayenne for many reasons. The waitstaff is quick and friendly and the owners, Sam and Noura, are always there to make sure that the food that comes out of the kitchen is of the best quality everyday, all the time.

Apart from that I can go on and on about the food. Breakfasts have huge portions and are reasonably priced (as is everything on the menu). The lunch and dinner menus offer so many options of healthy and flavorful fare that you can never get bored of the restaurant. Many of the dishes are the inventions of the coook/owner Noura (BTW formerly of Noura's Cafe on Melrose for those of you who remember how good that restaurant was) like Pomegranite Chicken. The way she makes it was featured in the L.A. Times food section not too long ago. The sauce is so yummy I ask for extra even though they give you plenty! There is another chicken dish called Zaatar Chicken, which is chicken breast coated in Mediterrean herbs. It's fabulous.!

Another great thing about Cayenne is that if you have friends who aren't in the mood to try something exotic they've got great gourmet hamburges, pizza with a twist, wraps, pastas, steaks to satisfy everyone.

I love this place since it is right on Beverly Blvd next to a couple of boutiques. The service has been great every time I've been there. The food is delicious! I've been there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner--all superb! You wont be disappointed. Great salads, soup, and a variety of signature items, all made with fresh ingredients. Be sure to try the baklava for dessert!

Went today for lunch and had a totally satisfying experience. I had been there for several great breakfasts and one fun, exotic dinner. I had just read the earlier review about the $5 tip on an $80 check, so I was watching closely.

The owner gave a warm greeting and the waitress was kind, efficient and anticipated our every need. The few special requests we made on ordering were greeted with understanding that anything we wanted could be accommodated.

The food was perfect. (try the King Tut Wrap), the ambiance comfortable and welcoming, prices were in an average range and overall quality was high. The menu is a step up from the usual . It's a good place to try items that aren't normally available at the Beverly Blvd. lunch places.

We stayed for a long time talking and enjoying ourselves and were never rushed or made to feel this was our space for as long as we wanted. Several other tables obviously felt the same. There were a few business lunch meetings going on, where they also lingered comfortably for a while.

The owner checked up on us a few times to see that everything was alright, like the host at a party.

I couldn't help but thinking of the unfortunate, vindictive review I read earlier. I wondered what really happened and how this group had behaved. I also wonder who tips $5 on a $80 bill because the service is "nothing special." 6.25% is pretty low for 'nothing special." What special service would the waitress have had to do to get it up to 10% or 15%.

If service is bad, one should leave no tip and tell the owner the reason. As a business owner, he should know. If your GF doesn't like tipping, take her for take-out or for fast food.

To me this group sounds like a bunch of boors who should not be eating out in public and taking up table space. If I had a GF who started arguments with a restaurant owner (or who tipped 6.25%) , I'd being looking for a new GF. This was a sign of bad behavior ahead.

But that's just me.

The food at Cayenne is some of the best I've had in the area...I've eaten there on numerous occasions and am always very pleased. The ambiance makes it even nicer, you can sit outside on the patio or inside in a cozy, very nicely decorated dinning room. It's nice for a romantic date or just with friends or family. The food is very unique and has something that everyone can enjoy, and the prices are great (especially for LA). The first time I went there I was very impressed with the service and the quality of food so now I go there often. If you're looking for something in LA that has great food, reasonable prices, and a nice atmosphere, you should definitely try Cayenne. And make sure to try to Chicken Pomegranate or, if it's a special for the night, the Lamb Tagine, definitely their best two dishes...but everything on the menu (salads, pastas, steak, etc.) is great!

So I was at this restaurant with my girlfriend and friends for a quiet dinner. Everything was fine and we got ready to pay the bill. My gf decided to pay the bill and she decided to place a 5 dollar tip. The service was nothing special, nor did we feel like royalty. The bill was 80 bucks btw. Then the owner comes back to my gf and ask "is that 15 or a 5?" my gf said "5" then he said " who tips 5 dollars on a 80 dollar bill?" he said that mumbling as he was walking back to the front counter. My gf did not realize what he had said until our friend clear it up. She gf stood up and started to talk towards the front desk. I of course. stood up right behind her and was there when she contronted the owner about what he said. He then began to say, and i quote "THE WAITRESS LIVES OFF TIPS, NOT EVEN A DOG CAN LIVE OFF 5 DOLLARS!!" Then my gf told him that she does NOT have to give a tip unless she feels like so. He then said "THIS IS AMERICAN, YOU HAVE TO TIP!!" Then I came into this little fiasco and told him that my gf or anyone for that matter does not have to tip and that yes, this is America, and its HER RIGHT not to tip if she does not want to. Then I told the douch bag owner that if he REALLY cared what the waitress makes, then he should pay her more. He did not reply. My gf was furious and we simply asked for the tip back and took off. I dine out at least 3-4 times a week, all over so. cal. From san diego, to irvine, to LA and back. Never have I felt so disrespected in my life. I will NEVER go to this hole in the wall place that is WAY over priced. I hope this place shuts down. I was reading other reviews on this restaurant before I posted my review, and it seems like this douch has struck before. There is a review on here where the owner lashed out at a customer, who in the times we are in, still decided to spend him money at that establishment, and does not appreciate that. PEOPLE DONT GO HERE!! dont waste your money on this **** bag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If very delicious food, a great atmosphere and a fun, friendly staff are things you look for in a restaurant, then Cayenne Cafe is your place. I have been coming here since soon after they opened and have absolutely loved everything I have had here. Their hummus is fantastic, their salads, sandwiches and dinner fare are fresh, inventive and always tasty, and their unique breakfasts are a welcome change from traditional (and heavy) egg and meat and starch breakfasts. Sam and his team always make me feel welcome and this is usually the first place that comes to mind when I am thinking about taking someone out for a less expensive meal here in town.

With a delicate, yet not-so-overwhelming hint of Morrocan flavor, Cayenne Cafe is one of the most delightful places to eat in Los Angeles! A wide array of food keeps you coming back as to try everything on the menu at least once. However, once you find a favorite, you'll find it very difficult to choose something else instead. Cayenne has super friendly service and a clean romantic, cozy feeling that hooks you the second you walk in. Delightful teas and coffee brews are also a specialty. Don't miss out on the flamenco dancing the first Thursday of every month-when I happened to stumble onto this-it was truly a fun, coloful experience to my extreme liking.

We stopped into Cayenne last week on a trip from Vegas and were blown away by the food. There were lots of unique ingredients to choose from, my goat cheese, red pepper, purple onion, smoked turkey scramble made my day. The breakfast potatoes were awesome, prepared with really flavorful spices and a great Cayenne House Hot Sauce on the side. Nice big selection of hot teas to choose from and really fast, friendly service. Genuine hospitality, can't wait to dine here again on our next trip to LA.

My friend and I decided to try something different last Thursday and looked up Cayenne on City Search. Upon arriving we were greeted by a very polite gentleman who promptly led us to a nice outdoor table. I looked at the menu and was surprised to find such an eclectic mix of Moroccan, French, Italian, Greek and American food on the menu. My friend who had been here before, told me Cayenne Cafe is one of only 3 restaurants in town that orders the highest level grade A organic coffee, $50 a pound. So I ordered a latte to test it, and was amazed at how smooth it was, it had no bitter after taste whatsoever. I could definitely get hooked to coffee at Cayenne, its the best cup of coffee I've ever tasted.

The waiter had a happy face and upon my request suggested I try the kibbih as an appetizer, and the salmon with charmoula sauce as the main dish. My friend ordered his favorite dish Moroccan couscous. I must say they have an excellent chef because the salmon had some amazing flavors with a very delicate and refined mix of spices. I've never tasted salmon like this in my life, I think its Cayenne's unique blend of spices that creates the magic with this dish.

The happy chipper waiter told me since its Thursday night, there would be Flamenco dancing starting in 30 minutes. Sure enough, a guitar player and a dancer showed up with guitar and a wooden floor. When the performance started, I was quite surprised at how dramatic, exciting and charismatic Flamenco dancing is. All in all, it made for a very memorable and enjoyable evening out.

The waiter's were very courteous and attentive all evening long and the deserts were uniquely light and delicious. My friend and I had a wonderful time at Cayenne and I will definitely put this on my list of all time favorite places to hang out.

I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that has a sophisticated taste.

Last night, my boyfriend and I were searching for a restaurant to go to near La Brea. We did not want to go anywhere that was crowded nor a place where we could not hear each other. We saw Cayenne on Beverly and decided to give it a try. It looked cute enough from the outside. It wasn't completely crowded but not empty enough to scare us away. We were surprised to find that it was a Moroccan restaurant. We were welcomed by a friendly man, who appeared to be an owner or manager. We were seated immediately in the outdoor heated patio...amazing for a Saturday night at 8:00 PM. The service was top-notch here...courteous and quick service/food. The belly dancing and ethnic music added a nice different element from the usual. The hummus was amazing. I ordered the chicken skewer dinner, which included rice, a salad or soup. Mine was average tasting...but how good can chicken skewers taste, I guess. My boyfriend ordered the chicken pommegranate dish and his was amazingly good. We definitely enjoyed the restaurant overall and suggest it as a fun different place to go to. I will steer towards something more adventurous on the menu next time.

I'm not going to lie, I enjoyed coming to Cayenne. I was a regular customer with my friends for quite some time, felt the food was alright (no NYC) and enjoyed the atmosphere. However, I'll never ever return again after being insulted by the restaurant owner, who implied I was too cheap to sit at his restaurant.

I had already cooked myself a meal at home, but decided to join the company of my friends at their request. I felt bad for not having anything, so I ordered a side of rice that came out in a small cup. Perfectly fine. Then the bill comes and I'm charged $5 for literally a small cup of rice. I simply questioned if the price was correct considering you can buy a chicken sandwich for $6. They said yes that's the price, so I paid. Again, fine. Then the owner came out and said "I heard you complaining about the price of your rice." I replied, "I was just checking to see if the price was correct for a cup." He asks me if that's all I ordered and I said yeah, I come here all the time and usually order full meals, but that I had already eaten tonight and I was just joining my friends so opted for a side. He said, "well you are lucky to be sitting in my restaurant for $5, I usually charge $25 a head minimum. $5 is nothing so consider yourself lucky" and walked away. It's not like I was sitting and ordering by myself, I simply joined my friends who spent over $60 at the table! What a way to treat and retain a loyal customer... Alls I can say is it was quite insulting and I'll never return nor recommend this place to anyone anymore. I understand if my experience doesn't deter you from eating here. I just feel it's always important to let people know when a customer is mistreated and insulted not just by an employee, but the owner! I refuse to support such acerbic and uncaring proprietors. So if you are deciding between Cayenne and an alternative, please try the alternative! TIA

TIA

Pros: Atmosphere

Cons: Customer service per the owner!

My wife and I are regulars at Cayenne. I just want to say that the review of misslisamouse didn't make any sense. We order desserts there very often. They are $5.50 and so big that one person can not finish it all by himself. So there is no way they had only 3 desserts & 3 coffees. One thing is clear though: if you are in such a tight financial situation that you can't invest in a dinner($8.50 to $14), you should ask for the price before you order.

I went to this restaurant with a couple of friends to stop in for a coffee after catching a revival film at the New Beverly Cinema next door. I couldn't find desserts on the menu, but we each ordered a pastry with our coffee because we didn't want to invest in a meal. Well, we may as well have, because the unlisted dessert prices trapped us into a bill over $40 for a light snack. The teen waitress was inattentive and impatient, and when I asked if she could make a seperate check (since the bill was high) she said, "I already wrote it down". Meaning, she wrote the bill on a piece of paper. I guess this was a big obstacle for her. Also, the place was deserted and I can understand why.

Breakfast, lunch or dinner Cayenne has never disappointed us. The food is so great you can't wait to come back. They even have steak that can give the best steakhouse in town a run for it's money. It's not on the menu, so make sure to ask for it. They have belly dancers friday and saturday nights and it's most entertaining. I am definetely having my birthday party at Cayenne.

Cayenne Cafe provides this rare blend of friendly neighborhood restaurant without falling into the "ethnic" trap. It offers a pleasant variety of dishes that appeals to most palates. It's simple yet sophisticated, contemporary yet warm, a true fusion of what makes LA a truly unique place to eat and enjoy life. Highly recommended!

I have never had anything here that has been less than wonderful. The servers are efficient and friendly. It is a very welcoming place. I love the assortment of teas and beverages. The breakfasts are terrific and if you are lucky to be there when there is still a piece of knafe left, order it immediately - it is divine. Their salads are all wonderful. They are great for takeout, too. Everytime my family comes in town, I now have to take them here at least once!

After reading the glowing reviews (which I'm now positive are fakes) I decided to take my girlfriend here, hoping for an evening filled with romantic ambiance and top-tier cuisine. We got neither. What I got was tough, overcooked salmon served on a sloppy bed of flavorless couscous dry enough to cause dehydration, and hummus that tasted about one notch down that bought at Trader Joe's.

My girlfriend was cajoled into ordering one of the "specials" -- a pound of pasta drowned in olive oil and topped with four meager, undercooked shrimp.

Worse yet, the waitress hovered near our table, continually inquiring whether or not we were going to stick around for the "fabulous" belly dancer that would soon be arriving. It turned out that the "dancer" was some eighteen-year old wannabe Hollywood starlet who would be right at home in a strip club.

Awful.

After having dined at (and being disappointed by) numerous trendy L.A. restaurants, it's refreshing to find a place with a friendly staff, a welcoming atmosphere and absolutely great food. The breakfasts here are unique, healthy, and always hit the spot. For lunch, it's always hard to choose between the sandwiches and the salads (and I've never been a salad guy, but this place has changed my outlook); and the trend continues at dinner with even more options, each masterfully prepared with fresh, highest quality ingredients (and with dinner entrees topping out at around $14, you don't have to mortgage your house to eat here). Top it all off with a Turkish Coffee and the best lemonade in town, and you have Cayenne Cafe.

If truly spectacular food, a great atmosphere and a fun, friendly staff are things you look for in a restaurant, then Cayenne Cafe is your place. My husband and I have been coming here since soon after they opened several months ago and have absolutely loved everything we've had here (we've tried over half of the menu). Their hummus is the best I've ever had, their salads, sandwiches and dinner fare are fresh, inventive and always tasty, and their unique breakfasts are a welcome change from traditional (and heavy) egg and meat and starch breakfasts. Sam and his team always make us feel welcome and have made Cayenne Cafe our first choice for dining out.

I was told by a friend to check out the Cayenne Cafe since it's in our neighborhood. I was thrilled to find it to be such a great place. I thought the ambience was casual enough for a dinner with friends and yet cozy enough for a date. The menu is great and full traditional mediterranean dishes. We shared two salads which were fresh and flavorful and really filled us up. I would suggest coming and trying it out whether for a light meal or if your really hungery. Even though it's right on busy Beverly Blvd. you still feel like your in a mediterranean atmosphere.

I found this gem on city search. Loved the fava bean scramble, the atmosphere and the service! The interior was intimate and cozy. The patio was darling. They even brought a "snack" bowl and water out for our pooch. They are going to start having musicians in on Friday nights and belly dancing on Saturday nights. I can hardly wait to go back! I will definitely be recommending this to my friends and clients.

We went here over the weekend and were pleasantly surprised. The parking is ample, the staff very friendly, and the atmosphere casual and clean. WOW, the fava bean breakfast is definitely the best things I've had in a long time. It looked so beautiful when it arrived that I didn't want to ruin the presentation. The fries that come with the falafel are also excellent! Great place!

This place is charming and warm. Great for dates and people watching during weekend brunch hours. If you are there during brunch hours, please try the Fava bean breakfast with eggs. It's the best breakfast food ever! Other great dishes to try are their smoke turkey plum sandwitch, and the plum chicken.

We first saw Cayenne Cafe by driving by. At first we were going to the Indian restaurant but was struck by the crowd and ambience of this new cafe. So we went in and then decided this is going to be our new favorite restaurant in town! Owner Sam makes the best Hummus in the world (comign from my husband who has the best Greek cook for a grandma) and his wife Christina really makes you feel welcome and special. Each day, you get to try the home-made special deserts if you have the room for it after a satisfying meal. The value is great and food is excellent. I have tried breakfast, lunch, and dinners and I have to say they are all very tasty.
