My opinion is quite different from the other review. Beach's has a tacky atmosphere. For that reason, I can't give it 5 stars. However, some of the prices are amazing. The produce section, in particular, is like stepping into a time machine and going back decades. A lot of the merchandise is somewhat distressed. You might have to pick through a big table full of junk to find the few gems within. Nevertheless, they are there, and when you find them, can walk out of the store extremely smug about what you paid for them. Some examples I recall from my own experience over the last couple years: Gigantic globe artichokes - 25 cents each. (They inspired me to do my own fresh artichoke hearts following detailed instructions by Julia Childs. A lot of work, but boy were they good!) Rapini (broccoli rabe) - 79 cents. Very recently, butternut squash, 25 cents a pound. One time they had packages of Chilean blueberries - get this - 4 for a dollar. IMMEDIATELY AFTER I went to Ralphs for something or other, and saw the SAME BRAND 1 for $4!!!! (OK, not really $4. $3.99!) You get the idea. You cannot bank on finding specific items for rock bottom. It's just an adventure to go over there and see what's cooking. That is, what's gonna be cooking soon enough in your kitchen, once you get it all home. I cook mostly from scratch, which is why I'm talking about produce. For meat, there are some OK things, but if you want filet mignon, this is not the place. Also, for anything packaged or canned, this is probably not the place although there may be deals sometimes.

Beachs Market has been around for ages and depletes the long lines and expensive prices of major chain markets. Unlike the major chains, Beachs has low prices and a friendly atmosphere as many of the shoppers have been shopping there for years. Beachs also offers a wonderful selection of wine and contributes a whole wall to it.
