This is a great bar in North PB. Excellent food, good wine list and really great live music. My only complaint is that the acoustics are not great which makes it very hard to have a conversation, even when the band is not playing.

I only discovered the Turquoise a year or two ago, and it is hands down my favorite place for dinner and drinks; first it's the ambience that hooked me, but the food is amazing, the service is friendly and attentive, the music is wonderful, and everyone is smiling--it??s really out of this world. I actually took a picture of my dish on Mother??s Day last year because it was such perfectly crafted haute cuisine, it was delectable, and yet it??s very inexpensive! Even better, I just discovered that they've added a bunch of new things to the menu, and they??re offering a new happy hour menu that??s fantastically reasonable (3$, if I remember correctly, for the tapas, and the portions are huge). Furthermore, the live music has been remarkable (jazz, blues, or flamenco, they change it up). This place is so civilized, sophisticated, and at the same time the height of decadence, and the owner has taken care of all the details: even the ladies?? bathroom is beautiful! I??m so glad he brought this little slice of Spain to PB; I can??t sing its praises highly enough!

Pros: great food, service, music, and best ambience in town

Cons: none, it's reasonably priced and very consistent

We celebrated my friend's birthday and it was the right atmosphere for a little more sophisticated and intimate celebration when other bars & restaurants are too casual, beachy and loud. The scallop dish and mushroom rissotto were amazing. The service was very friendly and prompt (it was a quiet Monday night). Loved the live music. Would be a great date night -- dark and cozy, warm decor, candles on tables.

I had a great time at Turquoise and would recommend it. The parking is bad but once you get in there it's worth it. The food is yummy, prices are good and the atmosphere is chill....perfect hang out for some drinks!

Really nice! It has a European fell to it. I wasn't expecting them to have real sophisticated food but they did! It was great. Good music, nice people. Highly Recommended.

I have LOVED this place! Best happy hour! Great owner!! BUT!!!! BEWARE WHEN THE OWNER IS ABSENT OF THE PLACE! The staff becomes bi-polar and mean in his absence. I had a manager slam a patio door in my face when we sat at a table outside. The staff is cold and angry when no one is watching them. I hope you are reading this as an owner and scold your staff for their ill manners when you aren't around- PLEASE NEVER LEAVE!

I dine here a good bit and have been for awhile and I usually really enjoy myself. Unfortunatly our last experience was not so great. We were entertaining guests and decided to go to Turquoise because it was near home and fun spot with music, and good food. Upon arrival everything was nice drinks came out quickly, and our food order was taken pretty quickly. The restaurant was pretty full upon arrival but then continued to get quite busy. Understandable being that it was a Thursday night, however our server was quick to bring us our first two dishes (ordered about 6 or 7) and then apparently forgot the rest of them. We ordered a bottle of wine initially but then had to go up and ask the bartender for the next bottle, as well as the rest of our food. Our server then realized the problem and apologized that he dropped all of our remaining food to the large party that showed up after us and would put another order in for us. That took forever music was nice though, they were clearly just understaffed for the night. Worst part was my friend and I were treating our guests so we split the bill but the bartender who we had to go up and give our cards to mixed up our bill with a large parties in the mix. Our cards were charged for the much larger amount and then charged again for our party, it took over a week for the credit to appear back on our accounts so needless to say we hope that the staff gets some help and tunes up there skills a bit.

I highly recommend Turquoise Cafe Europa for a fun evening out! They've got great, friendly staff who are always ready to give detailed explanations of their yummy menu items. Their tapas are not only delectible, but they arrive to your table super quick! The ambiance is warm and relaxing, and the nightly entertainment adds a nice jazzy touch of kewlness! We're semi-regulars and every experience has been wonderful! I highly recommend the Turquiose Cafe Europa for good eats, entertainment, and atmosphere! Four plus stars!

I read reviews on this site and saw it was best of 2007 so we went last night. We got there and I was excited about the place because it was cute, inexpensive, fun...However, they were out of caprese (that's ok, it happens)but the server had the busser bring out my husband's entree and forgot mine. 20 minutes went by and he didn't come near our table so I could ask where my food was. After 20 minutes I told the hostess and she sent him over and he asked what I was missing, not even apologizing! I asked him for a menu to order another drink also. 10 minutes later the cook brought out my ahi and put it on the wrong table and walked away. The man at the table stopped the cook and said it wasn't his so the cook gave me the food. Even then, the server still didn't check on us or take my drink order. Finally I asked for the manager and he cut me off at the part of me not receiving my food and said that tapas in Europe come out as ready not all at the same time. (Pasta and ahi aren't an over 20 minute difference). Then I told him about the cook giving it to someone else and the server still not coming to my table and he finally said that was unacceptable and offered to pay our tab.

Pros: Place is very cute and great if you don't need a server and just want to listen to music

Cons: Service is bad!! Wine list is not that extensive

Visited recently only based on citysearch description and reviews. My fiance and I were completely satisfied with our experience. waiter was very helpful and friendly, owner came over to say hello and make sure we were happy. Food was excellent, and the music (jazz) was outstanding. Prices very reasonable. We live in OC, but will definitely return whenever in the area and will recommend to friends.

I wanted to go to a nice place to have a glass of wine and some Tapas. I searched online and found this GREAT restaurant/bar in Pacific Beach. The place is not on Garnet Ave, so it makes it even better because there is not tons of people trying to find parking and there is a more selective crowd. The owner, Basilio, makes sure you have a wonderful time and a great service. The staff is unbelivable!!! The food is one of the best I've had in San Diego... and the best thing is they have LIVE MUSIC EVERY NIGHT OF THE WEEK!!! If you want to have a nice time with some friends and be in a friendly place with great service, food and excellent music, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO!!!

I live in the heart of Pacific Beach and The Turquoise Cafe Bar Europa has become one of my favorite spots to eat and have a delicious glass of wine 1 to 3 times a week. The service is excellent on time, and the people are wonderful, personal, and a blast to share my dining experience with. I love the live Jazz music played several times a week. The Capri salad is my favorite and it?s just too hard to choose a favorite tapas; they are ALL amazing. I don?t usually write reviews but I am just so in love with this bar/restaurant I couldn?t help myself! A MUST TRY!!!!

I don't know why more people like me haven't written in before, honestly, this is my very favorite place in San Diego! It is true the service can be slow, but cold food?, what are you thinking, the tortilla is supposed to be cold! I met the chef and know the mushrooms are not only made fresh, but are organically grown. The house wines are from the wooden cask, direct from local vineyards, the only place I have ever seen with this stuff, and I think the wines are great!, their selection includes over forty wines, Not enough for you? I wonder why you didn't share your thoughts with the management. If there really was a problem, I'm sure they would go completely out of their way to make it right, I have only found everyone there to be caring and attentive. Not to mention the great live music every night. You are right about one thing, please don't try it again, I don't want to run into you there. What a buzz loser you must be.

Pros: Unique Atmosphere and Super Chill Vibe, Great Food, Live Music

Cons: I wish they were open days

Waitress did not know anything about wines except which was the most popular one. The house wines, grenaches lacked all body and flavor. The tapas took forever to come out and there were only four tables full at the time we went. The tortilla Espanola was cold, the "marinated mushrooms" were most surely the button type mushrooms from a can, although the caprese was ok. But then again how can you mess up cheese and a slice of tomato? Limited selection of wines. Not recommended. I'd recommend to go somewhere else to a real wine bar

I love this place so much - I almost don't want to let anyone else in on it. Super romantic, great live music, excellent food, and incredible ambiance (very un-PB). Definitely go for after work drinks/tapas with friends and come back for some flamenco music and dancing for a romantic night. Food is slow-paced, so don't be in rush. But look out for the overly-amorous owner that patrols the bar with open wine bottles.

I have been all over Europe and this little bistro really nailed it. The feel is like unreal, out of the memories of past vacations, pasted together with a thousand images from old movies, traveling through europe. I remember something somewhere of a black jazz singer in paris, and I remember my days in madrid in the 90's. Its a very lade back hang with a crazy group of over educated and generally articulate people. I have been there a dozen times and if i'm not just kicking it enjoying the sangria, I'm getting into it discussing the solution to the worlds problems, or just sitting and enjoying the view of some of the hottest, most interesting, and well dressed people anywhere. The tortilla espanola is the best anywhere, even spain, and the creme brule just awesome. It always seems to be girls night out, no TV's, hooks for our purses, a very extesive wine list, and genuinely great food. I love to try a new tapas every time i go. I have yet to be disapointed. Definitely try this one!
