I first came to Neighborhood Church 3 1/2 years ago with my 3 children as a single parent. I intentionally sought out ways to be connected and found many loving, friendly, wonderful people who have and continue to treat me and my daughters like family.

God is honored in the teaching of His Word and worship, His love is demonstratd in many tangible ways in and through NCR. Lots of changes have occured and that's not a bad thing, just uncomfortable for some people. God is in control and if you want to be a part of a body no matter where you go, you will need to step up and get involved, intentionally.

OK .. so here I am 58 years old and have gone to church most of my life. And have always been told not to be critical of a church, to just leave and go somewhere else if you did not like it.

Even so I had thought neighborhood was a good church to attend and have done so for quite a while now ever since Rich Brown was the temporary pastor.

The message is usually pretty good from Pastor Bill, and usually I get "fed" when he is there, except from the constant harping for money, he even went so far one time when asking for money to tell the congregation to take out their credit cards and put their "donations" on plastic.

But I can't say the same for the awful "rock concert type - out of key too loud music", led by the raspy voiced, Jon Lepinski, which is billed as "upbeat music" .... this noise does not in any way - shape - or form lend itself to worship. At least they have stopped the "mist-fog" during the singing but there are many who have left due the lack of "reverence" in the service.

Seems the one dimensional Dr. Lepinski, who is billed as a "worship arts leader", can't do much else but scream instead of sing and certainly does not even have the talent to even put together a choir out of all the many people who attend.

Guess the last straw for me was when Christmas 2010- JESUS CHRIST'S - birthday fell on a Sunday and there was no service at all not even on Christmas Eve...

Pastor Bill says GOD does not need anything from us, HE has it all, that we need GOD in our lives, yet when we the people need GOD especially on a day like Christmas Bill and the powers that be [men who run the church -evidently not GOD] decides to close the church down.

This church, which is quite large and wants to grow larger, emphasizes everyone's duty to tithe to the church. Sunday after Sunday, the squeeze for more money is preached. The Pastor is quite gifted in his speaking abilities, but I find the pursuit of the dollar is the main message here, I guess they need to, this church has a 2.5 million dollar budget to support.

A church where the teaching is unbalanced. Personal holiness is ignored. The lordship of Jesus is not emphasized. Personal purity is not talked about, and love is not demonstrated. My advice, pray for the leadership of this church.

The Neighborhood Church of Redding is a large church with three services on Sunday and one evening service on Saturday as well. They are afilliated with the Christian and Missionary Alliance and therefore put a strong emphasis on missions. There is Sunday School as well as other youth groups. There are several impact groups for all stages of life.
