I agree with what the others have already said but wanted to add that Dr. Dave has had a problem with a disease he contracted overseas and no he's not contagious to human or animal. He can't quite get rid of it causing his occasional unplanned absence. It's January of 09 and my last two visits went as scheduled so maybe the situation is improving.I thought they were a little on the expensive side however they co-operate with me by matching the lower prices I find on-line for various medications.Seeking lower prices I went to Airport Animal Hospital just down the street. When I walked in I was greeted by a man wearing a smudged smock. I don't know if it was the Vet or not. I've never seen a dirty person working at Commonwealth so I figure I get what I pay for and stayed at Commonwealth Animal Hospital.

These two Doctors, Dave and Linda, (Husband and Wife) own Commonwealth Animal Hospital and they ABSOLUTELY are the best Vets around. They are extremely compassionate and are really knowledgeable in every aspect of animal medicines and are up-to-date on all procedures. They get to the root of the problem and they get your loved pet well. And if there is no way to get your pet well, they cry with you I SWEAR! Go to them first and you will see exactly what I am talking about!Cindy Sue Murray

I just move to Fullerton and wanted to take my new puppy some place closer and the reviews here stated that they??re services were good and the prices were reasonable. The first visit went good and the prices were reasonable, a little cheaper than my last vet. A friend??s puppy from the same litter was sick and I scheduled an appointment for her, but had to take her someplace else because the doctor was out. A couple of weeks later my puppy cut his paw and I called in during regular business hours to see if the doctor could see him, but the doctor was again not in. The last appointment I had for my puppy??s shots, the doctor wasn??t there and the technician had to give them. I was only there for a period of two months and the doctor was out three times. I also took my other dog there to get some blood work done so I could get her on heartworm medication and the doctor asked if I was planning on fixing her and I told him I was but that I??d called in to schedule an appointment when I had the money available. Without asking or telling me, he did a pre-anesthetic workup on her and charged me $120 for it! My last vet was only going to charge me $45. I spent over $200 that day. Since they already charged me, I got an estimate for fixing her and it was for over $550, not including the $120 I already paid. That??s over $300 more than my last vet. I also got an estimate for fixing my puppy and it was for over $400, plus another $220 for his pre-anesthetic workup. And they don??t even keep them over night, my last vet was going to just to make sure everything was okay. I went to another vet to get an estimate and they only quoted me $85 for the girl since she was only 7 lbs and the boy would only be $95 or $115 if he was over 50 lbs. Let??s just say that after I got those outrageous estimates that I??ve never gone back and I just had to eat that $120 because there was no way I??m going to spend over $550 to get her fixed.

We met Drs. Dave and Linda Johnson at the Commonwealth Animal Hospital in Fullerton when we got our two six-week old female Labrador Retrievers. My wife and I were very pleased with the care and service that our four-legged family members received over their life time. Ginger passed away after 11 years and Amber passed away after 16.5 years. Dr. Dave, Dr. Linda, and staff were there for all of our dogs' needs. We know they loved our dogs as much as we did. We even bordered and bath them there when we had to go out of town. Ginger and Amber never fretted about going to see Dr. Dave or Dr. Linda. They both got the same love and care that we would give them. We believe that Dr. Dave and Dr. Linda are very knowledgeable and well-connect in the veterinary field and when we needed extra-specialized care, they knew who to refer us to. Every referral was right on and the specialists were just as caring as Dr. Dave and Linda. We thought that the pricing of their service compared to what was provides are extremely reasonable. It's the knowledge and personalities of the doctors (and outstanding staff) that we valued the most for our pets. If you want great live-time care for your precious pet, check out Drs. Linda and Dave at the Commonwealth Animal Hospital on Commonwealth In Fullerton, California. They were there for us and our pet for more than 16 years. They comforted us in the passing of each pet. When we get our next pet (hopefully another Lab) we will be looking forward to having Drs. Dave and Linda Johnson take care of our future newest family member. Regarding pricing for services and meds; we felt that everything was reasonable - sure you might be able to get a lower price on vet meds somewhere else, but we seldom felt the need to do so. If pricing is a concern, just talk to them about your concerns and they will help you find alternatives. Just remember that if you want a great local vet available to you, they need to be able to make a living and some business profit to stay in business and to continue providing that outstanding care. Otherwise, they may have to close their business and go somewhere else. We need great vets to stay in business and stay local. (That's my 2 cents on pricing.) God Bless Commonwealth Animal Hospital!
