I have always enjoyed eating at Moishe's. The Delancey Street sandwhich makes me drool just thinking about it! The proprietor is extremely friendly and welcoming. Clean restaurant and great prices! If you love your pastrami to melt in your mouth....go here!

There are many meaty sandwich options at Moishe's.

I'm not a huge fan of the polish sausage though. Perhaps it's the Chicago way, but if you like your dogs grilled or buns toasted, look elsewhere.

The owner is really friendly and the prices are fair.

I discovered Moishe's yesterday as I was headed to another place to dine. Inside, I discovered a "Chicago style deli" with dozens of pictures and signs of the Windy City. As a frequent traveler to Chicago, it did feel like I was sitting

Pros: Great sandwich, welcoming staff

Moishe's has good pastrami, corned beef, and on Friday's a really good Brisket. Although the walls are full of Chicago memorabelia, Moishes could be from many places east of the Rockies, it has the old-school deli vibe not often found beyond New York, up and down elsewhere on the East Coast.

How refreshing to be treated so warmly and get such great food! Moishes welcomes you in and makes you feel right at home. The pastrami sandwich looks massive, but is so delicious that you find a way to eat the whole thing. Brisket on Friday's is popular too but get there early because it goes quickly. Friendly service and great, authentic Chicago deli - makes Moishes a great lunch spot for the Hayes Valley / Civic Center crowd

Now with the closing of longtime fave Emmmit Powell's Soul Food Restaurant it's likely up to Moishe's to keep ol' school style hungry hope alive in this happening hood. Can this unlikely Chicago style deli in a trendy little stretch of Hayes Valley carry the funky culinary torch? I mean I love the concept of fancy fries up the street, but wat if I really just wanna nosh? While the word pippic is Yiddish for belly, ironically the owner is a Brazilian born retired banker... go figure. That doesn't mean he can't arrange a meal deal, so enjoy a hearty selection of Chicago dogs, and rich kosher treats such as latkes, knishes, and kishke. Six kinds of soups are built from scratch, including a classic chicken noodle, obligatory matzo ball, and even the always less than appetizing sounding "kreplach".

While I have to agree that this is not your typical Jewish deli, in a city where there just aren't any good deli sandwiches it was a pleasant surprise. I had the Reuben, and while it was frustrating that it wasn't griddled, I found the

Pros: Top quality meat, Good Service, Decent prices(for SF)

Cons: , Not East Coast

This is a cross between David's deli (it has amazing meats, great sides, and a fun mellow old school atmosphere) and a vendor hot dog stand that servers great weiners!

The best of both worlds -- Chicago dogs and New York pastrami!

Look, the people are nice. They're even generous with the meat (not cheap, but a fair value). But, this place is not, as billed, a Jewish deli, Chicago-style or otherwise. A reuben, for example, is NOT made with cold corned beef on
