I have been going to Bracken Bird Farm since I was a kid and won't buy a bird anywhere else. Each bird I have brought home has been the picture of health, including the newest addition to my feathered family, a hand fed baby African Grey. Their amazing customer service and competitive prices bring me back for all of my seed and supplies. Now I bring my kids to feed the animals like the goats, cows, and turkeys... and to look at the camel, emu, ostrich, and donkeys.

This is a great place to take the kids! Free to enter & they have a huge outdoor nesting area with a very large assortment of birds. They also have a mini-zoo on the property with giraffes, buffalo, huge turkeys, ostriches & other animals. My kids had a great time. If I had birds I would definitely use their services. Very well stocked.

I have been to bracken bird farm many times starting when I was a kid. When I went for the first time with my aunt about 10 years ago I remember this place being wonderful. There were so many beautiful birds to look at and choose from at great prices, they also had a camel, ox, goats, a pig, ostriches, ducks, etc to look at and feed, and the avery was open.
I went back as an adult fairly recently and was dissappointed. there werent many birds to choose from, a lot of them were or looked sick, the avery was closed and had no birds, they only had 2 emus, 3 turkeys and a long horn ox, and no food to feed them. The prices weren't much better than pet store prices. I ended up leaving with a cockatile, and 3 parakeets. Two of the parakeets I left with I argued with them for about 30 min to convince them to give them to me. They were babies, 2 yellow ones and they had deformed legs, they could not sit up right or sit on a pirch so the other birds packed in the cage were walking all over them and pooping on them. I was outraged so i demanded to leave with them even if i had to pay full price. I still have them and after a lot of time and attention they are able to sit on a perch. the 3rd parakeet i left with ended up sick and died, ends up he had a liver problem and after spending $100's at the vet there was nothing else i could do.
My friend who was with me left with a baby white parakeet from the cramed cage, he was blind and couldnt even seem to find the food or a perch. he does well now that he is the only one in the cage.
over all this ended up being more of a rescue mission. .
the staff was rude and was really pushing their seed and cages&supplies on us. They wouldnt take no for an answer even though i told them I had cages at home ready.
The only good thing was that I was able to handel and choose my own cockatile, and I went home with a wonderful beautiful firendly cockatile.

Pros: you can look around handel and choose your own bird

Cons: sick birds, small selection, rude staff

This establishment has been around for years. The are always so helpful. Reasonable prices on supplies. A large variety of cages and other items to choose from. Nice healthy birds as well.

I've been to Braken bird farm one time. The employees were not helpful and did not offer any help upon entering the store. They have old birds that they do not sell and require you to put your name on a 3-4 month wait list. Also, they try charging $15. just to clip nails. From now on I will go to Mag. Bird farm (where I bought my bird without being on a wait list) and get her wings and nails clipped for free. I will never buy my supplies or use Braken for anything.
