The Capri Italian Restaurant has been in the Eagle Rock community since 1963. Their consistency in great Italian taste, friendly service and inviting location has kept them as one of L.A.'s favorite Italian restaurants. Family owned for many years, they quickly warm up to families that come in for either a casual dinner with the kids, or a private party with co-workers or friends. They offer prompt, local delivery service, catering for small and large events, and also a nice light & healthy menu. They are only open for dinner, but their large portions will make up for their only available meal of the day. Be sure to print their Citysearch Summer Special coupon so you can indulge in their delicious, signature Garlic Cheese Bread for free. The Thiel Twins, Jeff & Jim are ever-so excited to have you as their special guest at Eagle Rock's one and only The Capri Italian Restaurant.

The place is cute and clean, the Italian food is good, if pedestrian. while I like a little more adventure in my dining experiences, this is the perfect place to take the family. Young and old alike will find something to suit their taste.
Prices are good, service is good.

I just tried this place. I love the food and the service is better. The pizza is my favorite. The twins that own the place are a riot!

Great Service
by jrwells
So the family and I wanted Italian one night and a friend of ours had recommended (highly) this place for us. We were pretty excited because I knew that my friend had a very similar taste in food to me and the rest of my family. We were seated quickly and in a cozy little table. We had a great time with some great food. The pizza was delicious and these guys really know how to put the toppings on there. We had a great time and looking forward to returning sometime in the future.
Pros: Great Service and Food
Cons: Far away from home (not their fault about that)

The Capri is not the best or worst Italian Restaurant. It is however, the most kitch. I love this place. The twins rock, and the food is pasta house neghborhood good. Not great at anything, but really decent at most. I like to with a good magazine, by myself in the corner. See you there.
Pros: neighborhood Kitch, wonderful family place, the twins rock
Cons: are you kidding, I eat here, no cons!!

Great local place
by HalBacsi
I've been going to the Capri for about the past 20 years, through several owners, and one of the great things about this place is that it has never changed. The food is good, the service friendly. My favorite is the veal. I now live in Budapest but whenever I'm back in LA, I make the Capri one of my stops.

Great Service, Cozy Family Atmosphere
by pjetmic
My girlfriend and I went to The Capri on a Sunday night. What a fabulous place. It's not fine dining, but it's very good quality at reasonable prices. That's hard to find in LA. I had the Chicken Parm and she the Lasagna. Both were great. We especially appreciated the $5 corkage fee as we had our own bottle. Our waitress was exceptional and very personable. I don't think I can say anything that I would have changed. Simple, Good Food, Fair Prices, Friendly Service. We will definitely be back in the future.
Pros: Service, Value, Portions, Atmosphere
Cons: none

cute family restaurant
by mysticms
I mean the family who qwns the Capri is cute. Its always fun to go there. Its really a family business and the twin boys (grown men) are adorable. It is a fact we were missing the eggplant in the eggplant parmegiano but who cares, thats how my mom would have made it too.
Pros: small, intimate, friendly

WHY BOTHER??? THEY DON'T!!!!!
by rembaldi
We were looking for a no fuss, good food, Italian place close by. The sign inside says, Please wait to be seated...and we waited, waited, waited, no one greeted and finally after 5-10 min. the grumpy white haired woman said, we'll be with you in a few minutes. Still waiting, we almost walked out. FINALLY being seated we ordered. The salad (or dressing with a side of salad) came before the drinks. The garlic bread was no good. I ordered the Olive Oil & Garlic (a very simple classic dish) and my friend ordered the Italian Sausage and Peppers. I knew I was in trouble when the waiter wasn't sure what I was ordering, yet it was on the menu...I think the cook didn't know either because when it arrived, it was swimming in slosh, the garlic was raw and not sauteed and it tasted like it had clam juice in it. I kept trying to eat it and it was just horrible. My friend tried it and he said that's just not good- it's a soupy mess. I tried his dish and it was much better - not great, but good and far better than my dish.
The service was non-existent. Not once were our glasses refilled, nor did anyone check on us after we were served, nor when it was time to clear the plates, so finally after about 10-15 minutes (after we were finished), I flagged down the waiter to removed the dishes. Leaving a full plate of food didn't cause him to ask if everything is alright but instead he asked if I wanted a box to go and I said OH NO. Still he was clueless....
I was really hoping to find a great little neighborhood Italian place but instead, this place was a disaster. From the minute we walked in, it was as if no one cared and it showed. Lousy food, lousy service, decent prices, but the latter is a mute point since it was so bad. Oh, and the "B" grade in the window didn't help matters either. Don't waste your time or money. As my friend said, this wasn't worth getting dressed for....Why bother? They don't.
Pros: Good parking, no wait
Cons: Lousy food, lousy service

Family Friendly
by poppies77
The brothers that run this place are a hoot, and the food is tasty and cheap. It's hard to find a toddler-friendly spot in the L.A. area, but between the vibrant decor, available sippy cups, and plentiful booths, my little guy was quite pleased, as was I.

get the capri colossal!!!
by charmaineinator
i love this place. The best pizza to order is the Capri Colossal, it's got loads and loads of meat ;-)
Pros: great pizza. decent service
Cons: construction on eagle rock boulevard can make driving there a bit slow

Yes, there is another pizza place in Eagle Rock
by skshop
The Capri has a family feel to it, seeing that the family is always there. We've been going there for 5+ years, and generally have good service, especially if the family is there. The pizza is usually really good, but have been a little disappointed on a couple of occassions (not every place can hits a home run every night). The pastas are pretty good, and the salads/ apps are fine. Just a fun atmosphere, and there is usually a ball game on TV.
Pros: Food, atmosphere
Cons: Can be inconsistant

easy in pj's
by choteaux
living closeby, it's so nice have a small, family-owned restaurant that we can just crawl out of the house and go eat at. it's cheery, easy, and has fabulous thin-crust pizza. the food isn't fine dine material, but it's not terrible nor appalling - kind of a home-cooked meal when you don't feel like cooking. perfect for the times when you don't want to get dolled up, or too tired to cook, or just to pop by and eat at w/ a book.
Pros: easy, homey

Very Disappointed
by pippa
I am an East Coast Italian and yes, I grew up eating homemade Italian food. So, admittedly, I am hard to please. I went to this restaurant for the first time last night, since it is close to my home. I asked what was homemade and was told that the pasta was not homemade, but the sauce was. So, I decided against pasta and ordered chicken parmesan. That way I could sample the sauce at least. The chicken parmesan was so overcooked, I could barely cut into it. Normally one can cut into this dish with ease, but the chicken was as hard as leather. I had to saw at it. In addition, the sauce on the side of spaghetti had no flavor whatsoever. I tried my companion's pizza and the sauce tasted like Ragu. I just cannot recommend this restaurant for family-style, tasty Italian dishes.
Pros: Homey, Not too expensive
Cons: Bad sauce, Not worth it

Thin-crust Lover Heaven
by netter1
If you love thin crust pizza like I do, then you have to try the Capri. The Capri has always been a family owned business, although I believe it's changed hands since I first started going there in 1980. The atmosphere at the Capri can only be described as "neighborhood". It's not one of those destination restaurants where people drive miles and miles to dine there, so it's usually packed with mostly Eagle Rock residents. If you don't mind dining in small booths with other friendly diners, then this is probably a good try for you. Just keep it quiet, will ya.

Great thin pizza
by the_opinionated
This family owned and operated italian restaurant is one of the many hidden gems tucked away in Eagle Rock. One of the few places that still brings a sense of community and Mayberry feel. I have had many pizza's in my day. But this is by far the lightest I have ever had! After gorging myself with a feast set for King Henry, I felt as if I could run the L.A marathon. The crust was so light that it didn't weigh me down one bit. No pizza hangover here!!! The toppings were fresh and plentiful! Even my friend who is intolerant to pizza sauce thoroughly enjoyed this pie! Two thumbs up!!!
Pros: Thin, Fresh, Family operated
Cons: Not open 7 days/ Week

A local Italian gem!
by Kayotae
The folks at Occidental and the Eagle Rock locals know about this little secret, and keep it well hidden from the rest of Los Angeles. Why? Simply because you can't beat the food or the prices, and you would ruin the ambience if the place got flooded. So come in moderation and try out the fantastic dishes available at the Capri. Just don't get confused by the brothers...yes, they're twins ;)

Great for college kids
by Kcentials
The Oxy special, for Oxy student only, is an accurate indeication of what this place is, a neighborhood restaurant frequented by locals. On the walls are pictures of Oxy football team and on Saturdays after the football games, the players come in and are greated by the owners warmly. If you know the twins, you are in for a treat, nice guys you know what costumer service is all about and really make you feel welcome.
Pros: friendly, inexpensive, warm
Cons: small
