This place has been there "forever"

by Jen K. | insider Insider | Rank: 25,479

As a native, we have gone to Blue Sky my whole life. The food is always good and consistent. The ingredients are fresh and the food comes quickly. We have always had a good meal.

From run-of-the-mill to sublime!

by Squirmelina

I've been eating here for years, largely because I lived in the neighborhood and it was convenient. In the more recent past it had become just OK, reliable and palatable but not outstanding, but convenience outweighed the lackluster cuisine. Every time I feel like I'm coming down with something, I go there for the hot and sour soup (my standard cure-all) and whatever else tempts me. However, last night I had occasion to order a bunch of takeout and was delighted with the quality of the food. I don't know if they have a new cook or new management or what, but from my phone call on, the experience was pure pleasure. The gentleman who answered the phone and took my order spoke excellent English, answered my questions easily and offered recommendations upon request. My order was ready when I got there, well-packaged and boxed for my convenience. Prices, as always, are reasonable. The food was sublime. Order the walnut prawns (his suggestion). To die for. Every item was perfect: house fried rice, pork chow mein, egg rolls, potstickers, won ton soup, sweet and sour pork, steamed rice, the amazing walnut prawns and more. A flawless meal. I'll be a much more frequent diner in the future after last night's brilliant success. Highly recommended (and I wouldn't have said that a month ago).

Pros: Excellence of food

Cons: Prosaic ambience

Horrible? DO NOT EAT HERE!

by mcortez501

This place is horrible. Do not! I repeat do not waist your time on going there. The service is terrible? the waiter was so rood me and my friends tried asking questions about the food and what was good and she was sooooo rood all she could say was no, no and NO! I asked her for silverware and napkins, and she gave me this look like I should get up and get them myself, so then she just turns to the next table and very roodly graves them from there and gives them to me.
That?s not even including the food, whish may I add was disgusting! It has no flavor what so ever. The rice looked old and like it was just slapped on the plate, looked and tasted like something that they would serve at the school cafeteria or somewhere with really bad food. Everything had a really bad flavor. We were really in and out of there in like 15 min. we tried eating it and just couldn?t so we left all our food on the plate and said forget this! No one even said goodbye! Or did you like your food? As if they new their food was bad.
DO NOT GO HERE!

Pros: none

Cons: lunch special (but not good)

DISGUSTING!!

by diazerica

This is the first time i have ever written a review about any restuarant because it has never been as horrible, with food and customer service in a single place. I have had bad experiences of my own in other restaurants, but this is the first time i couldnt even swollow my food! the food smelled as it tasted! I went to this restaurant with two of my friends and when one of them asked for a napkin she rudely grabbed the napkin from the table next to ours and practically through it at her face, she also asked for new silver ware and she did the same thing! she was rude! and the only thing that came out of her mouth was NO! The taste of the food is still in my mouth!! Do not even come close to this restaurant, i do not know how they got the best chinese food in the winchester area, and obviously the reviews are exactly what it is. TRUST US!! its Disgusting!

Pros: nothing!

Will not be back...

by msgimble

We recently moved to the area, and were in the mood for a simple Chinese take-out and didn't feel like paying a fortune at Sino in Santana Row. Saw that this received a 9.0 and a 'best of the city' or something for 2006 so thought we'd give it a try. What a mistake. The wontons in the wonton soup were undercooked and doughy. The potstickers were bland (also noticed that the box that my food was placed in was labled 'keep frozen - chicken and vegetable potstickers' so they were obviously not homemade). The tomato beef chowmein tasted of sweet and sour sauce and the beef was not great quality. The mushu pork was horribly mushy and watery, had no tree ear mushrooms, and the pork was fatty. The combination chowfun was cold, the noodles were hard and 'old', the chicken and pork were fatty. I know that this place does westernised chinese food, and I'm fine with that, but atleast they could do it well. I feel bad for the poor review as the owners are apparently very nice, but the food was horrible. Will next time spend more at Sino or travel further for another simple place.

Pros: nearby

Cons: the food was horrible
