Their 40 years of experience was evident in the way they answered my questions when I first phoned them. And the movers were first rate; courteous and careful. All my goods arrived safely and within the estimated time and price.

This was our third move in LA and Elephant was better than our previous movers by a large margin. Prior to our move we visited their office on Venice Blvd. near the Helms Bakery complex of furniture stores and took advantage of their box

They were available on short notice and even delivered the boxes I needed within hours of my call. The office manager, Graham, was helpful and courteous. The movers knew exactly how to handle some very fragile items in my home. They obviously had been doing it for years and wasted no time. All charges were as described and there wasn't a scratch on anything. I definitely recommend them.

Horrible movers!
I tried them for my last move and they were terrible. The broke lots of stuff and tons of scratches, dings (smashed my computer, lamps, etc). They forgot a bunch of stuff and then had to load things into my car because they said the truck was already loaded and they didn't want to repack everything to fit the stuff they forgot to load. The one guy was SOOO chatty! He was the guy wrapping furniture and he kept stopping to tell me stories I didn't want to hear. He was very friendly but I'm not paying him by the hour to talk to me. They kept asking me to help carry things too. They have three guys and I'm paying based on a "not to exceed" estimate. Why should I have to carry as much stuff (probably more) than any of those three guys? And the one chatty guy kept asking for food. He kept saying "most people have food for us" even after I already fed him several times. Also, they were VERY slow, and they kept disappearing throughout the day. I finally went looking for them and found one guy just sitting in the truck drinking a beer. I never found out where the other two guys kept going. At the end of the day I got a call from the supervisor (owner? dispatcher?) saying they went three hours over the not to exceed price and blamed it on a "long walk" from the elevator. He insisted that I pay at least half of the overtime. I won't use those guys again.

These guys helped me move in October. They were excellent, efficient, friendly and professional. I had to move a bigscreen tv and they didn't charge me extra for the packing or the difficulty of the move. They even moved faster than I thought.
I highly recommend these guys to anyone moving in the LA area. I only wish I knew about them 2 moves ago.

I packed all my own stuff for moving my two-bedroom apartment in West L.A. 75 miles north to a small house in the Tehachapis. Elephant did the moving, and they were just great! Don Tonty, the owner, made a well-priced estimate (I did not get any others), but the total cost as figured later by the job foreman was more than that; nevertheless, IN ACCORD WITH STATE LAW, all I was charged was the original price.

Tonty, by the way, is NOT English, as intimated in another review elsewhere on the Web. That honor goes to the guy who answers the phones, a fellow named Graham, who has a very pleasing personality.

Three people packed the truck and two of them drove the load to my new place and unloaded it all. I was surprised they were not furnished with a Mapquest map by Elephant, but Graham said they didn't have computer access in their office. Very unusual in this day and age! So be sure you can give accurate instructions if you are shipping out of L.A.!

They put everything where I wanted it in the new house and even moved a few heavy items from one room to another when I changed my mind. I gave both men a good $$ tip. (Elephant., by the way, has a straightforward page about tipping on its Web site -- well worth reading.)

Everyone has heard horror stories about movers who drag their feet and move slowly to drive up hourly costs, damage your goods, and surprise you with a bill full of hidden charges that were never discussed in the original quote. NOne of those things will happen to you with Elephant Moving Company. This is the most professional, reasonably priced moving company you will ever find. I bought my boxes from them and they permitted me to return the boxes for a full refund after the move was completed. They showed up on the day of the move with plenty of extra boxes in cases I needed more and helped me pack up rooms that I had not yet had an opportunity to pack. Packing my apartment was not part of our original deal but it was done with a smile. In addition, they showed up on time, worked tirelessly, and charged me the exact price they promised. Not a single possession was damaged in any way whatsoever. On top of all of that, the movers were so friendly and curteous. I had an all day move and it was a pleasure to spend my day with these gentlemen. They not only moved the items into my new home but indulged my endless requests for them to move furniture in rooms so that I could figure out their placement. And, without a single groan or roll of the eyes, they catered to my desire to put soft feet on the bottom of each and every item before they were placed on my new hardwood floors. All in all, it could not have gone better. I highly recommend that anyone doing a move use this company.

My wife and I recently moved locally in Los Angeles and Elephant Movers was about the only thing that went right. These guys are professional, courteous and offer great customer service - the best part is there are NO hidden fees and the rate was very good. In addition, they offer a refund service on boxes you buy from them! Highly recommended!

I used this service when I had to move all my stuff including king size bed, cabinet, table, tvs, and etc to my apartment. They sent about 3-4 men to help me move my stuff and transfer it over there. Compared to my last moving service, these guys were very gentle and careful with my delicate items. They also tried their best to fit everything in one truck to save time. You can also rent out boxes to pack your stuff, and then return them to get your money back. The boxes were very sturdy and helped keep all the clothing from falling out, which happened during my last move. I suggest this place to all those who are planning to have a move and want a professional mover to help.

Elephant recently moved us from the Westside to the Pasadena area and they did a very nice job. Their rates were the best that I found for a three man crew, plus they give a "not to exceed" estimate, so I knew exactly what to expect in terms of price and, in fact, I ended up paying less than the estimate because they finished quicker than estimated.

They packed us one day and then moved us the next -- they do just moves as well if you don't want packing. The packers were very nice and we had no broken items. I also felt very comfortable with the movers -- totally trustworthy and careful with our belongings.

BONUS: If you purchase their boxes (whether you pack them or they do), you can return them for a full refund if they're in good condition! No one else offered that service -- it provided a good deal of savings over other full service movers.

My only reservation was that the person who did our estimate slightly misjudged the volume of stuff we had and all of it would not fit in the truck they sent the day of the move. So, we had to make several trips in our cars to take the few remaining items that did not fit in the truck.

Even given that unexpected problem, I would still recommend them, I was very happy with their service -- but the mix-up with the truck size is the only reason I can't give them 5 stars.

PROS: Good price for 3-man crew, box return/refund program, honest, reliable
CONS: Estimator misjudged size of truck needed, had to move a few items via car
