We had a good experience at Adams School with our two sons. They attended school here for 4 years and we were very happy with the teachers they had. They met a lot of nice children here and attended the after excellent school program as well. This large elementary school tries hard to balance the English and Hispanic student population. The school has plenty of weekly student awards, which helps with student goals and achievement.
Located on busy Las Positas Rd. in between the 101 freeway and State Street.
PROS: good education, large student population
CONS: none.

This school is typical of public schools in Santa Barbara. 2/3 of the enrollment is hispanic, with the attendant extra challenges of teaching English at the same time as subject matter. The principal has appropriate priorities to balance the conflicting goals between various groups of students. Somewhat surprisingly, Adams has a very good GATE (Gifted And Talented Education) program; supporting this program is one of the creative ways to bring up the schools average academic scores.
