NEVER NEVER NEVER shop here. \nI will never shop here again. The customer service has never been great, but it didn't much matter to me. I can find what I need on my own and I don't require super friendly cashiers.\nBut it has reached out right rude.\nThe cashier may have been annoyed that the price came up wrong and I demanded the price that was displayed next to the item, so she had to void and enter each item again. For whatever reason she actually snatched my money out my hand as I was handing it to her. She snatched it and then sneered like a petulant teenager. Honestly. I was stunned. When I asked what exactly I had done to deserve to be treated so rudely she smiled a sticky sweet fake smile and told me she had no idea what I was talking about. Stunning. The manager was no help. She implied I must be wrong, that the cashier would never do that. \nNEVER SHOP HERE.

Do not demean yourself (or your diplomas) by taking them here for framing. It's not even worth it for free. You'll just end up wasting a lot of time and gas coming back to the store after they repeatedly screw up, and you'll need to get a refund and go somewhere else anyway. Skip these steps and go to a quality framing store the first time.\r\n\r\nIn mid-March, I ordered three custom frames -- wood frames with non-reflective ""masterpiece"" glass. The anti-reflective coating needs to be handled with care to avoid scratching.\r\n\r\nPickup: one of the three was well done. The other two had long horizontal scratches in the glass.\r\n\r\nFirst re-framing: both diplomas had worse glass scratches than before. No one even apologized.\r\n\r\nSecond re-framing: both frames had different scratches in the glass this time. The frame joints were also poorly mitred and did not line up correctly at the corners. \r\n\r\nI asked for a refund. Eric talked me into trying just one more time, because I needed to bring back the one diploma that was framed correctly anyway. He promised that the manager would call me the next day to discuss a substantial discount. This never happened.\r\n\r\nThird reframing (almost two months since I placed the order): one of the frames has a chipped edge and the glass is scratched. The other one has scratches from handwriting over an 8.5 x 11"" section -- I could read the word ""order,"" a description of the work, and a series of numbers scratched into the glass.\r\n\r\nI didn't bring back the good frame, because I reckoned that no one could screw something up four times in a row. I've been polite each time, but the cowardly, waste-of-humanity manager scurried off before I could even register a proper complaint. \r\n\r\nDid they anger the framing gods, or are they just utterly incompetent? I'll find out when I bring back the good frame to get my f'ing refund. These hacks should pay me for wasting so much of my time.

Cons: Worst Customer Service Experience Ever.

Michaels Arts & Crafts is one of the largests arts and crafts store in the bay area. It has lots of good sales and I only visit it when there are those sales going on.

Michaels has generic arts and crafts supplies for most crafting activities. I have rarely been unable to find a craft item there. It is a rather soulless store, with barely competant salespeople, flourescent overheads, and laminate flooring. There selection is not spectacular, but they have a little of everything. This store is clean and well lit. As a bonus, they also offer free and inexpensive crafting classes on a variety of subjects. A weekly/monthly schedule is posted at the front of the store.

PROS: clean, good selection
CONS: kind of boring
