A warning to all the parents. My duaghter broke her right arm with 2 broken bones on the right hand. The reason: there was no one there to tell her not sit on the fence. Not even a phone call after I took her to hospital to see how she is

I go to Sierra Canyon, and it is well worth the school fees. The campus is absolutely gorgeous and though teachers are demanding, the Sierra Canyon family learns for the sake of knowledge itself. With the recent addition of the high school, Sierra is undoubtedly the most elite and best school in the area. Staff are courteous and understanding and the small class sizes provide for a much-enriched learning experience. It is my humble suggestions and opinion that this school is the best place to educate yourself or your child.

The school is also built on what used to be the site of a Chumash campground. There are very old kilns and a good deal of broken pottery around that particular area of the campus. To preserve this place, kids are only really taken there on small "field trips".

Sierra's most valued qualities are those of the "Six Pillars of Character" Responsibility, Respect, Caring, Trustworthiness, etc. This brings the students together. We are all family at Sierra Canyon.

If you are looking for a school that has high academic standards, but still cares about the kids and not just the grades this is the school for you. While they do have high expectations for the kids, they give them the tools they to succeed and make it all fun in the process, so they love learning. We couldn't ask for more.

Oh my goodness! This is a beautiful campus, but who in the heck can afford to actually send their children there? I believe the tuition is more than $15,000 a year starting in kindergarten. Sure, school is wonderful, great programs, but definitely not for those less than elite.

Sierra Canyon is a privately owned college preparatory day school located on 16 acres in the town of Chatsworth, northwest of the San Fernando Valley. The campus is peppered with large pine, oak, and eucalyptus trees, and surrounded by orchards and open fields. It feels like youre in the country instead of minutes away from a bustling valley community. Co-director Howard Wang took me on a tour of the school, proudly pointing out all the features that made Sierra Canyon a Unites States Blue Ribbon School in 1990. The school has a science lab, library, computer labs, several play areas with climbing equipment, football and soccer fields, two swimming pools, and an outdoor crafts area. There is an outside eating area surrounded by orange trees, a (covered) outdoor amphitheater, a log cabin (original to to the property) and a tepee for outdoor adventures. The school completed construction of a new middle school building in 1995. The new high school (grades 9-12) is scheduled to open in the fall of 2005.
