What a Wonderful Day

by Michelle H.

I was treated to this spa as part of my companys christmas get together. This was the best gift I have EVER received. We went in as a group and was able to choose from different packages. I am a large woman and would never want any stanger to see me naked. But the professionals that work here were so wonderful to me, they made me feel at ease and with every treatment they were better and better. I enjoyed this so much I booked 2 months later for a couples spa day for my husband and I.

Spa Universaire

by Jackie C.

FriendlyAlthough it was hard to find when you did it seemed silly it was right there. I went in for the Integrative Massage 90 min. Well you cannot beat the price. I was very fortunate to get Eric he was one of the best I commend him. I would recommend Spa Universaire and Eric over and over. Just remember to take what you might need to go back into the world it was a uneasy feeling not having my comb and brush, lotion and so on. A++++

Stay Away

by Nina D. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,591

I had an eyebrow wax here that drew blood. The lady was unapologetic about the incident, and said it would mean that the hair would not grow back. Needless to say, I did not go back.

Incredibly relaxing!

by nlbailey

I absolutely loved my trip to this spa. My best friend and I wanted a facial and massage, and we were treated like gold. From the second you walk through the door, the staff makes you feel relaxed and very important. I HIGHLY highly recommend this spa, and I will definitely be returning!

Pros: Completely relaxing atmosphere in the heart of downtown.

Cons: A little pricy

For a great message, ask for Jen!

by sturpenoff

If you are wanting a great massage, then ask for Jen Smallwood. Jen is professional, easy to talk to, and excellent at what she does. She provides a calming and soothing environment before she begins her massage . She knows exactly what she is doing and where you need the most work on your body. I always leave one of Jen's sessions feeling stress free, comfortable, and relaxed. She is worth every dime spent and you will definitely feel amazing when she is finished.

ERIC is a master

by Cbrant

This spa is unassuming and pleasant. The therapy rooms are awesome and themed ....rocky mountain room, sahara, etc. But the reason I go here is because the massages are the best. Absolute best. I frequent spas and have had tons of massages. The best one I have ever had was here. Ask for Eric. He rocks.

Low key spa, great facials with Kristen

by cviera

I regularly go to Spa Universaire for facials. Kristen Loersh does an amazing job. She takes great care of my skin, and has a great touch. I always feel like a million bucks after my facials. I like the spa overall - it's a small, simple spa which is easy to get into for a high quality services - even on short notice.

Pros: Nice staff, great spa professionals, easy to book an appt

Worst Spa Experience Ever!

by ndurnswmn

My husband and I visited this spa not to long ago. The receptionist was pleasant but very nervous. There was a thin older looking woman watching her every move. I had to assume that this woman was her boss. This was the first thing that we noticed and it made us uneasy. She took us back and had us change and do some paperwork. The lounge was small and uncomfortable it seemed more like a hallway than a lounge. My robe was torn and worn. My husband?s robe did not fit him very well which made him uncomfortable. As for the slippers, they looked moldy. When they finally came to get us for our massage, we had to walk up some dark stairs. We actually walked out of the spa to go to our room. Then we walked through the manicure room, which had a couple people getting pedicures. The door to our room was off the manicure room. There was something dark splattered on the wall in our room. I do not know what it was but it was unpleasant. The blanket on the massage table was stained. During our massage, the people in the manicure room were talking very loudly. I was sure I heard someone using the toilet and flushing as if the bathroom were right next to us. I noticed another door before we arrived at our room that was obviously adjacent to our room and contained a bathroom. As well as other fainter but still audible voices. The best part of this entire experience was the massage. The massage was good but not the best I have ever had. The therapists were warm and very friendly, which helped a little. It was a little awkward to come out of the massage room to have people getting their nails done staring at us. I was glad to leave. I will never return to this spa and would not recommend it to anyone. I am a very upbeat and easy-going person. I do not normally do this sort of thing but I think everyone should be aware that this is the dirtiest spa we have ever been to.

Pros: Massage good

Cons: Too many to list

Awesome massage and masseuse

by JodieJ

My massage therapist, Lucy Y, is incredibly strong and knows how to knead out the knots. I've had a lot of massages over the years, but she is probably the best masseuse I've experienced. 60 minutes flies by -- I never want it to end.

Pros: One of the best massage therapists I've come across

Outstanding Place, Best Massage - ask for Eric

by alpine74

I have had MANY massages at spas all over the country and can say that Spa Universaire is a real gem, and Eric is the best massage therapist I have seen. I've been going to Spa Universaire for some time now, and only had my first massage with Eric recently. While he is phenomenal, and who I will request to see, I must say, I haven't had a bad massage at Spa Universaire from any of their therapists - it is always a wonderful, relaxing experience.

Pros: everything

Cons: nothing

Fantastic massage

by rvn6570

I have recieved massage from many of the best spas in the world, Spa V in the Hotel Victor in South Beach to Spachakra in Sydney. A close friend of mine recommended that I try Spa Universaire. The spa itself is quite average. Nothing really spectacular. The staff was warm but seemed a little on edge with the exception of my therapist. Ken S. was warm and made me feel extremely comfortable. I do not normally care for a male masseur but Ken made me feel at ease and provided the perfect touch. The pressure was exactly what I needed. He was quiet and seemed to know exactly what my body needed. I felt refreshed and relaxed before, during and after my massage. Thank you Ken for a great experience, it was truly the best massage I have ever had. I will be back to see Ken when I come back to Denver and I recommend that you do the same.

Pros: Massage quality

Cons: Seemed to be some tension in the air

Kristen is the finest esthetician in Denver - waxes are somehow enjoyable now!

by lroybal

Kristen does a great job of making a what we think is a considerably unpleasant experience (waxing) somehow enjoyable. She is professional, thorough, uses care to have a clean enviornment and is very knowledgable in her field. The spa atmosphere is a respite from my crazy busy day with the relaxing environment and pleasing staff.
I'm a fan and love the results!

Best Wax in Town

by millerleslie

Spa Universaire's wax specialist extraordinaire (not her actual title, but it's what I call her), Kristen, is awesome. She's seen me through eyebrow and bikini waxes during BOTH pregnancies! I would recommend Spa Universaire for prenatal massages, too - ask for the water bed/pillow. It allows you to lie on your back during the massage, which is a rare treat for prenatal massages! EXCELLENT!

by rgerlach

I've been going here for over 4 years now and love it. The therapists are professional. The treatments consistent and very fairly priced.
I'd recommend it for everything from an eye brow wax to pre-natal massage.
Ask for Kristen and you can't go wrong!

Pros: Parking, full line of services, professional, flexible

Cons: Relaxation room is small.

Sensational spa! Definitely check it out!!

by LilMaddy

I've been to several different spas in Denver and around the world before I found Spa Universaire. I read all of the reviews before visiting the spa and was a bit nervous about what my experience would be like. I was very, very pleased with the service! When I arrived 30 minutes early, I was greeted by first name and shown around the spa. I completed some paperwork, changed into a comfy robe, some great massaging sandals and relaxed alone in the steam room (can only fit 2-3, but you can lock the outer door so it's very private and doesn't have that communal feel) with some nice aveda tea. My first treatment was the dead sea salt glow (actually, i first started with a foot bath) followed by the swedish massage. The masseuse was very attentive to pressure points, scents, comfort, etc and would have to say the best massage I've ever had. I finished with a one hour european facial which included the extractions and a nice mask. The products were all explained to me, but there was no push to buy (which i appreciated)! As a side note, I had a booking conflict and the spa was very accommodating to change certain services in lieu of another; as the lady put it "you're the guest and we'll do what you want". I have to say the customer service, knowledge and expertise at this spa has been some of the best i've ever had. The building has an old charm to it, but being right off Speer Blvd it still remains inviting, relaxing and exactly what a true spa in downtown Denver should have. Definitely highly recommended!

Pros: Aveda products, private steam shower, tea, customer service

Cons: Parking during the week might be bad; only 5 free spot dedicated to spa.

Best Massage

by doncierge

I have chronic neck and headaches. The tension in my neck and back creates knots of pain everyday. I was fortunate enough to find Spa Universaire and the therapist , Ken. His DEEP Tissue work was superb!! Not only the deepeness of his massage, but the techniques he used sure worked magic on my aching neck, shoulders and lower back.
His expertise in the workings of the human body was evident. Gracious in nature, and the massage I received will certainly bring me back to the Spa and to Ken. First time in months I have not had a throbing headache. Keep up the great work!!

Great Massage

by sunshine78

My husband has recieved many massages over the years and after he had a massage at Spa Universaire-he said he won't go anywhere else. His massage therapist gave just the right amount of pressure in the right spots. Lucy was phenomenal and he can't wait to go back for more work to be done. For those who have not tried their steam shower-it's so relaxing and inviting.

Pros: Great massage therapists

Cons: The music

Massages for Christmas gifts this year

by ffa

I recently came in for a massage and my therapist took such great care of me. I got to enjoy a cushiony robe, slippers, a cup of tea. My massage started with a nice relaxing foot scrub. My therapist was WONDERFUL! She explained everything she was doing, why she was doing it. Her technique was consistant and the pressure was even throughout the whole massage. I have every intention of going back again as well as possibly buying my family massages to Spa Universaire for Christmas.

Pros: Everything

Cons: More relaxing ambiance when you walk in

Worst Experience Ever

by yoyo4198

I was there with a friend and we both had an awful time. I have been to a lot of spas and this is the worst place I have ever been. The "relaxation room" is actually a hallway, which makes it anything but relaxing. The steam room barely fits two people and the changing rooms are a joke. I had a facial that was so-so. The room that I was in had water stains all over the ceiling tiles which made for an unpleasant start. The esthetician only used a couple of different oils/lotions and seemed very rushed to get through the process. When I finished with my facial, my face still seemed dry and my eyes were puffy and irritated. During my massage, when I was face-down, the male therapist removed the sheets and had my body almost fully revealed! When he had me roll over, he did not look away while I turned over. Instead he continued looking at me. To say the least, this was very uncomfortable and extremely inappropriate. This was the first time that I did not fall asleep during a massage because I felt so uncomfortable that I could not relax. My friend and I were suppose to finish our day with a pedicure, however when we went into the pedicure room, we couldn't even go through with it. They had metal bins that they had to hand fill with water that was supposed to be for your feet. We decided to cut our loses and leave. I would NEVER reccomend this place to anyone.

Cons: The entire experience

Not a real SPA

by saraelse

I was very disappointed with Spa Universaire. I was very excited upon arrival, because the Spa is located in a very cool building, so I assumed it would be a fabulous Spa. I was totally wrong. It is small, old smelling and the worse part about the entire experience was men and women share the same bathroom and waiting room. It is very strange to be sitting in your robe next to a couple of men in their robes as well. The service was decent; however, if you are looking for a true spa experience?.please go somewhere else.

Pros: Good Location

Cons: Men and Women share the same bathroom and waiting rooms....Old and Smelly

Stellar Deep Tissue Work with Ken!!!

by krikkitone

The service is a little fluffy, but not required. Most of the individuals who work there have a professional and caring approach to their service. Ken S. is an amazing healer and does wonders with his massage. I would strongly recommend him for any deep tissue work, and I am sure he is equally as excellent with other types.

Pros: Great Massage!

by dragonfly26

I went here for some services and this place is a joke. The staff has this RIDICULOUS greeting they give at the door that is so impersonal. The carpet is bright green and the interior decorating looks like it is from 1970. The staff seems so uptight, as if they miss a LINE in the script they will get fired- come on , just be yourself. The service was ok, but nothing special. There are many other places in Denver to go that beat this one.

This is the BEST spa in Denver. Period.

by afredrix

I have been to probably every spa in this town, seriously. But, I have found a home at Spa Universaire. First, they ALWAYS treat me with respect, whether I am dressed nicely or in sweats. Second, their staff is always friendly and on top of things. Third, and most importantly, Keda is the best masseuse I have ever had. I have had massages with her and the Marma Point Massage (OH MY GOD) - they are both fabulous treatments. Keda listens to you and she is friendly before the massage begins, but then once it begins, she knows to let you relax. My only complaint is that, once in a while, they leave you sitting in that back area without you really knowing whether they know you're back there or that they know who you are. But, I've never had to wait too long and it is ALWAYS worth the wait (after all, you are there to relax - I just don't think most of us know how to do it!). This spa is the best.

Pros: Keda, massage, Marma Point massage, atmosphere

Cons: none

Unprofessional Staff and Underaverage Services

by twaters1

My girlfriends and I went to this spa and were greeted by staff members who were awkward and unprofessional. My massage was a fine experience but I had to sit in the waiting room entirely too long. My girlfriends both had nail services done-when making the appointments they were told these services would take just over an hour and in reality their services took over two hours! One of the nail techs had a pleasant demeanor but the tech did an awful job. The other nail tech was rude and standoff-ish. I would never return to this spa and would never recommend this spa to anyone else.

Pros: Massage

Cons: Staff, Nail Services, Atmosphere

Nice place and atmosphere: avoided the massage

by lanche1

My girlfriend had bought me the gift of a massage from Spa Universaire. The people are very nice and the atmosphere is very relaxing. However, I would avoid the Massage at Spa Universaire. The therapist spent very little time on my high stress areas and areas I requested special attention. If you are looking for a place with friendly staff and to relax, this is the place. If you are looking for a good massage....keep on looking.

Pros: Multiple options

Cons: bad massage

Just what I needed!

by meowmixer

People assume that spa technicians get services for themselves on a regular basis. As an Esthetician, I can tell you "not so much". My boss rewarded me with a gift certificate here because she knew the owner, Caren, would make sure that I was well taken care of. This was such a treat because it got me out of my familiar atmosphere. I was prepared for a great experience and they delivered. The spa is beautiful. I had two very talented technicians; Anthony (for massage) and Kristen (for the facial and two body treatments). I could tell that both of these individuals really loved their profession. I KNOW when someone is giving from their heart versus going through the motions. I want to thank everyone for taking such good care of me. It's nice to know that I have some place to receive treatments outside of my workplace. Thanks again!!

Pros: clean, quiet, professional

Cons: parking

Total Relaxation Experience

I admit having stress in my life like most people, making time for myself a working mum is tough. I was giving a gift certificate to visit this Spa, having been to several Spa's before I was excited to see what they had to offer. Kristen looked after me so well, giving me the best facial and massage I had ever experienced. Along with her professional attitude and gentle manner, I was able to feel extremely calm and relaxed in no time. Thank you Kristen for making my experience so memorable, I do highly recommend anyone to this first class Spa and the unbelievable service with Kristen.

I was greeted by a caring and knowlagble person. She had several great recommendations. She mentioned all the extra amenities, including the ritual foot baths and the aroma steam room. I was so excited about sending my husband that I decided to purchase certificates for both of us to enjoy some relaxation time together. Thank-you for listening to my specific needs and customizing treatments just for us. It was truly a relaxing day that we both enjoyed toegether.

by sararassan

I have travelled all over the world and I had the best massage here in Denver. The front desk people were great and the Aveda products smelled great. But the best part of my visit was my massage with Krista. She used techniques I have never experienced with a swedish massage, not to mention hot towels on my back, hot stones between my shouder blades, and under my neck when I turned over. I felt so relaxed i almost fell asleep. Plus her room decor is awsome!! I'm going again just for her.

Pros: Krista, Beautiful environment
