Overrated. Owner is rude and walks around in her fur coat. Obviously someone who cares so little for the animals who are mercilessly slaughtered so she can look 'good' is not someone I want to give money to. Not to mention she acts like two different people. I live in her building. She is extremely nice at her business office and absolutely rude and condescending outside of her business. Massages are mediocre, don't be fooled. There are better options. Send her a message its NOT okay for an animal to be slaughtered for its fur. What a total b*tch.

From the very first time I walked into Spa Universaire, I felt more pampered, cared for, appreciated and welcomed than any other similar facility I've ever been in, anywhere. Their spa is exquisite, and their customer service is BAR NONE. If I could give it ten stars, I would. Betty is unprecedented as a manager and Andie is far and away one of the most caring, compassionate, educated, talented massage therapists I've had the good fortune to find.

Every sense is engaged in relaxing, pleasant stimulation; from the sound of water gently falling, the dimmed lights to ease strain and help one relax, the subtle scents that linger just on the edge of the air and seem to draw out every tether the day has bound one up in, the calming music that is lambent on the edge of the shadows from which soft candlelight glows... to the soothing warmth of a mug of hot tea in a quiet room in which to find repose with book lined walls and soft light.

The absolute indulgence doesn't end there; it continues with privacy geared and very comfortable changing rooms with thick snuggly robes, cushioned seats, private steam room, private bathroom and assorted amenities, the big steam room with swedish shower and more amenities to soak away every stress and care, the option of several thoughtfully designed rooms in which to receive a very caring and thorough massage that soothes away every ache, worry, stress, pain, and thought.

Featured rooms include Rocky Mountain, Carribean Beach, Oriental, Egyptian and several others.

What every single aspect of this place does for my senses, soul, heart and mind from the moment I walk in until the time I leave is nothing short of spiritual refreshment, regrouping, recentering, cleansing, strengthening, relaxing, calming, refocusing, realigning, and is such a monumental lift for me that I have yet to find anything other than the shore of an ocean to match it. It is one of the most incredible hidden gems in Denver, and what puts the cherry on top is that it's AFFORDABLE and worth every single penny. Do Not Miss It.

I slept wrong and had a kink in my neck. Betty, at Spa Universaire, was lovely and scheduled me an appointment that same day (I called at 9:00 and my appt was at 12:15). Betty truly emulates the customer service that all spas should have. She was very attentive and made me feel comfortable as soon as I arrived. Betty fulfills multiple roles at the spa (repair woman, receptionist, attendant, etc.). Betty is the best review for this spa!

The facilities are extremely small and they are very limited in space. The space could use a better design.

Best spa downtown. Not necessarily the most expensive or fancy but the charm and massage therapists make up for it ten fold. Everyone was so naturally warm but the massage therapist I would highlight is Matthew, this guy is of a special breed I have not experienced in years and I going close to 20 years of being a massage veteran ! Don't Walk, Run to this spa!

The first time I stepped into Spa Universaire I experienced feelings of comfort and relaxation. The attention to every detail by each member of the Spa??s team made it a truly client-centered experience. The timeless journey I experienced at Spa Universaire was unique and beautifully mastered. If you would like to take a step away from the choas of Denver and step into a world of relaxation I highly reccomend Spa Universaire.

I've been to Spa Universaire three times now (my husband got me gift certificates for Valentine's Day) and while the massages have all been great, the front desk seems to f*** it up every time.
Last time I called to book an appointment and requested the massage therapist I had the first time. I thought I was all set and looking forward to the massage. When I walked in they started hurrying me through. When the therapist came out to greet me, it wasn't the guy that I requested. Going with the flow I went to the room and she started but made a comment that she would have to hurry. Finally, I said "I'm sorry but is there something wrong? My appt was at 1:30 and was suppose to be with XXX (I don't remember his name now) and I got here on time." She went out and checked with the front desk and the receptionist who booked my appt took it down wrong. At the very least I got an apology for the mix up.

Today, I booked at the last minute and was happy with whoever could get me in. The massage was great and I was completely relaxed. However, when I came out and gave the receptionist my gift certificate the computer wouldn't accept the number. She looked it up in the log to find that it hadn't been used but called the mgr on duty to ask her what to do. "Betty said she'll be right down," the girl told me. As I'm sitting there, I watched another patron go through the same fiasco checking out with a gift certificate. No kidding, 30 minutes later the receptionist calls Betty again who this time tells her to just accept the gift certificate and they can figure out the computer later. Are you kidding me? So much for leaving relaxed. The worst part was the receptionist didn't even acknowledge the wait or headache. Ugh!

Don't waste your time or money.

I was so lucky?just hanging outside by the Jacuzzi when the spa reservationist came to look for someone who had scheduled an appointment. I said ??no ?? not me?.I wish? - to which she replied, ??we have a massage therapist available if you would like to have a massage. ??Sure?, I said as I followed her inside to the reception. Wow! How lucky was that! Then my luck continued as the massage therapist I received was Drea. First, she cleaned my feet, very nice?it was then that I asked if I could change my massage to an hour. Once I felt her touch I knew she would be good. I had been in Denver a week working a conference and really needed a massage. I live in Northern CA and have massages quite frequently ?? I was amazed that I was having this incredible massage in Denver at a hotel. You should only be so lucky as to have a massage with Drea ?? she is gifted and has the healing touch! Be kind to yourself and schedule one now.

a dear friend purchased a gift certificate for me to come to Spa Unjiversaire and receive a facial. I am in my late 60s and have never had a facial. I was greeted by Miss Betty who gave me a "around the world tour". She was enthusiastic and informative. Surely, she took pride in her work. The facial is my focus. I saw Oxana. After my initial consultation, she advised me to see a doctor about a spot on my nose. I took her seriously and the next time I had a check up I mentioned it. They did a biopsy and discovered it was cancerous. A slow growing cancer, but cancer. If I had not received the gift certificate, not seen Oxana, the cancer would have gone undiagnosed until it had spread thorughout my face. Thank-you Spa Universaire and Oxana for your expertise. This is not just a place to go and relax, the staff here is caring, consciensous, and well educated. For a treatment - go anywhere... For an experience - go to Spa Universaie.

Okay, so I'm new to Denver which means finding all the essential spots is a trail and error procedure. Most of the staples are discovered rather painlessly, so you try a few bad lattes until you discover your favorite joint, or you're forced to suffer they agony of an inept yoga teacher until you stumble upon the studio that resonates. But as more and more places become solidified into your comfort zone, the undecided places, the acupuncturist, the tailor and yes, the masseuse. Determining these place can take years. But I'm delighted to say I've found the most overwhelmingly relaxing spa in the city. Look no further than Spa Universaire and if you're lucky, Jen. She is an unbelievably intuitive therapist, with amazing feel for the patient's needs. As far as the overall spa, incredibly professional, yet equally inviting and relaxing. As for the often mentioned, theme rooms. Initially, I had my reservations, they sort of stunned me whimsy. But as I got comfortable with the five senses immersion, I soon embraced the mountain room or the aztec indian room. I was ushered to the east indian room where Jen gave me the option of aromatherapy. It was empowering in a subtle sort of way to be given a choice in the matter. In fact, I believe the entire staff aim to slow you down, avoiding feeling rushed, to truly promote a relaxing experience. Often the expectation is to use the massage as the vehicle into a relaxing state, but at Spa Universaire, they instantly aim to ground you and slow you down. I'll go back again and again.

I went to Spa Universaire b/c a friend got me the Urbn Renewal package as a gift. It was such a treat and I was so excited. The package called for a facial and massage with an additional purchase of lunch paid by myself. It was disappointing from the start when they had me do the facial before lunch. This would mean the massage would come after lunch which is a massage basics no-no. Massages can disturb your digestion. The whole thing was counter-intuitive. Relax wiht a massage, eat, and clean your face up, right? Anyways, onto the rest. Ok, when they say 'themed' rooms (Eygptian room, mountain room, blah blah blah) all that means is that room has a wallpaper border in that theme. LOL. The rooms are also tiny, which didn't matter when I was stationary in a chair or on a table; but, when the person working on me had to maneuver aound the chair/table, it got uncomfortable. When I first arrived, I got naked and into a robe. Then I went to the 'waiting room', which is an awkward narrow space with benches and chairs reminiscent of my piano teacher's living room. Everyone just stared around knowing other naked-under-their-robe people are a foot away. During the facial I was told I had dry skin and needed a hydrating mask- I said no. I was also told I needed my brows done- I said no. The experience was ruined by up-sells. When it was time for lunch, my grand cuisine was a bunk-ass salad from Mad Greens and a dried dinner roll. I hid behind a screen eating in near darkness by the glow of a tea light. Employees went in and out of the laundry room which I was sitting next to. After lunch I got my massage which was very good, I must admit. Wish I could remember her name. On the way out the door they did try to push the Aveda products on me. I bought some sample sizes cause i'm a sucker like that. Even though it was free and had a good massage I would still declare this a bad experience overall.

Warm, welcoming environment with an extremely accommodating staff. Teara intuitively knows where I'm stressed and uses a wonderful combination of soft, medium, and deep touch to get every knot out. My husband and I mostly do couples massages, and he has had both Jen and Lucy with exceptional results. I would highly recommend this spa for both the spa virgin and the experienced spa goer. My husband had never had a massage before and now he is truly addicted.

Jen Smallwood gave me one of the best massages of my life. My dog, Macaroni, and I are a bed bug inspection team and spend our days working in apartments, condos, hospitals, retirement communities, and homes. It's physical work and I get worn out. She asked me what I wanted for my massage and then delivered. Relaxing, quiet, and gentle ( I don't like deep tissue massages...they hurt) with special attention to my feet, legs and back. She immediately put me into a massage coma of delight. The atmosphere was wonderful and so peaceful. Jen was fantastic. I've had massages at some very fancy locations here in Denver, Hawaii, Bora Bora, and in Europe (Villa d'Este) and she gave the most wonderful massage of them all. When you want the very best Jen Smallwood at Spa Universaire is the only way to go.

If you are wanting a great massage, then ask for Jen Smallwood. Jen is professional, easy to talk to, and excellent at what she does. She provides a calming and soothing environment before she begins her massage . She knows exactly what she is doing and where you need the most work on your body. I always leave one of Jen's sessions feeling stress free, comfortable, and relaxed. She is worth every dime spent and you will definitely feel amazing when she is finished.

This spa is unassuming and pleasant. The therapy rooms are awesome and themed ....rocky mountain room, sahara, etc. But the reason I go here is because the massages are the best. Absolute best. I frequent spas and have had tons of massages. The best one I have ever had was here. Ask for Eric. He rocks.

I regularly go to Spa Universaire for facials. Kristen Loersh does an amazing job. She takes great care of my skin, and has a great touch. I always feel like a million bucks after my facials. I like the spa overall - it's a small, simple spa which is easy to get into for a high quality services - even on short notice.

My husband and I visited this spa not to long ago. The receptionist was pleasant but very nervous. There was a thin older looking woman watching her every move. I had to assume that this woman was her boss. This was the first thing that we noticed and it made us uneasy. She took us back and had us change and do some paperwork. The lounge was small and uncomfortable it seemed more like a hallway than a lounge. My robe was torn and worn. My husband??s robe did not fit him very well which made him uncomfortable. As for the slippers, they looked moldy. When they finally came to get us for our massage, we had to walk up some dark stairs. We actually walked out of the spa to go to our room. Then we walked through the manicure room, which had a couple people getting pedicures. The door to our room was off the manicure room. There was something dark splattered on the wall in our room. I do not know what it was but it was unpleasant. The blanket on the massage table was stained. During our massage, the people in the manicure room were talking very loudly. I was sure I heard someone using the toilet and flushing as if the bathroom were right next to us. I noticed another door before we arrived at our room that was obviously adjacent to our room and contained a bathroom. As well as other fainter but still audible voices. The best part of this entire experience was the massage. The massage was good but not the best I have ever had. The therapists were warm and very friendly, which helped a little. It was a little awkward to come out of the massage room to have people getting their nails done staring at us. I was glad to leave. I will never return to this spa and would not recommend it to anyone. I am a very upbeat and easy-going person. I do not normally do this sort of thing but I think everyone should be aware that this is the dirtiest spa we have ever been to.

My massage therapist, Lucy Y, is incredibly strong and knows how to knead out the knots. I've had a lot of massages over the years, but she is probably the best masseuse I've experienced. 60 minutes flies by -- I never want it to end.

I have had MANY massages at spas all over the country and can say that Spa Universaire is a real gem, and Eric is the best massage therapist I have seen. I've been going to Spa Universaire for some time now, and only had my first massage with Eric recently. While he is phenomenal, and who I will request to see, I must say, I haven't had a bad massage at Spa Universaire from any of their therapists - it is always a wonderful, relaxing experience.

I have recieved massage from many of the best spas in the world, Spa V in the Hotel Victor in South Beach to Spachakra in Sydney. A close friend of mine recommended that I try Spa Universaire. The spa itself is quite average. Nothing really spectacular. The staff was warm but seemed a little on edge with the exception of my therapist. Ken S. was warm and made me feel extremely comfortable. I do not normally care for a male masseur but Ken made me feel at ease and provided the perfect touch. The pressure was exactly what I needed. He was quiet and seemed to know exactly what my body needed. I felt refreshed and relaxed before, during and after my massage. Thank you Ken for a great experience, it was truly the best massage I have ever had. I will be back to see Ken when I come back to Denver and I recommend that you do the same.

I had a massage from Romina and it really released my tension. I love this place because it is open on Sundays.

Kristen does a great job of making a what we think is a considerably unpleasant experience (waxing) somehow enjoyable. She is professional, thorough, uses care to have a clean enviornment and is very knowledgable in her field. The spa atmosphere is a respite from my crazy busy day with the relaxing environment and pleasing staff.
I'm a fan and love the results!

Spa Universaire's wax specialist extraordinaire (not her actual title, but it's what I call her), Kristen, is awesome. She's seen me through eyebrow and bikini waxes during BOTH pregnancies! I would recommend Spa Universaire for prenatal massages, too - ask for the water bed/pillow. It allows you to lie on your back during the massage, which is a rare treat for prenatal massages! EXCELLENT!

I was treated to this spa as part of my companys christmas get together. This was the best gift I have EVER received. We went in as a group and was able to choose from different packages. I am a large woman and would never want any stanger to see me naked. But the professionals that work here were so wonderful to me, they made me feel at ease and with every treatment they were better and better. I enjoyed this so much I booked 2 months later for a couples spa day for my husband and I.

I've been going here for over 4 years now and love it. The therapists are professional. The treatments consistent and very fairly priced.
I'd recommend it for everything from an eye brow wax to pre-natal massage.
Ask for Kristen and you can't go wrong!

Ken is amazing! He is great for any type of massage, but deep tissue and neuromuscular work are is forte. He is attentive to your needs and he will even massage out of his home. Thank you ken for making me feel better!

FriendlyAlthough it was hard to find when you did it seemed silly it was right there. I went in for the Integrative Massage 90 min. Well you cannot beat the price. I was very fortunate to get Eric he was one of the best I commend him. I would recommend Spa Universaire and Eric over and over. Just remember to take what you might need to go back into the world it was a uneasy feeling not having my comb and brush, lotion and so on. A++++

I've been to several different spas in Denver and around the world before I found Spa Universaire. I read all of the reviews before visiting the spa and was a bit nervous about what my experience would be like. I was very, very pleased with the service! When I arrived 30 minutes early, I was greeted by first name and shown around the spa. I completed some paperwork, changed into a comfy robe, some great massaging sandals and relaxed alone in the steam room (can only fit 2-3, but you can lock the outer door so it's very private and doesn't have that communal feel) with some nice aveda tea. My first treatment was the dead sea salt glow (actually, i first started with a foot bath) followed by the swedish massage. The masseuse was very attentive to pressure points, scents, comfort, etc and would have to say the best massage I've ever had. I finished with a one hour european facial which included the extractions and a nice mask. The products were all explained to me, but there was no push to buy (which i appreciated)! As a side note, I had a booking conflict and the spa was very accommodating to change certain services in lieu of another; as the lady put it "you're the guest and we'll do what you want". I have to say the customer service, knowledge and expertise at this spa has been some of the best i've ever had. The building has an old charm to it, but being right off Speer Blvd it still remains inviting, relaxing and exactly what a true spa in downtown Denver should have. Definitely highly recommended!

I have chronic neck and headaches. The tension in my neck and back creates knots of pain everyday. I was fortunate enough to find Spa Universaire and the therapist , Ken. His DEEP Tissue work was superb!! Not only the deepeness of his massage, but the techniques he used sure worked magic on my aching neck, shoulders and lower back.
His expertise in the workings of the human body was evident. Gracious in nature, and the massage I received will certainly bring me back to the Spa and to Ken. First time in months I have not had a throbing headache. Keep up the great work!!

I recently came in for a massage and my therapist took such great care of me. I got to enjoy a cushiony robe, slippers, a cup of tea. My massage started with a nice relaxing foot scrub. My therapist was WONDERFUL! She explained everything she was doing, why she was doing it. Her technique was consistant and the pressure was even throughout the whole massage. I have every intention of going back again as well as possibly buying my family massages to Spa Universaire for Christmas.

My husband has recieved many massages over the years and after he had a massage at Spa Universaire-he said he won't go anywhere else. His massage therapist gave just the right amount of pressure in the right spots. Lucy was phenomenal and he can't wait to go back for more work to be done. For those who have not tried their steam shower-it's so relaxing and inviting.

I was there with a friend and we both had an awful time. I have been to a lot of spas and this is the worst place I have ever been. The "relaxation room" is actually a hallway, which makes it anything but relaxing. The steam room barely fits two people and the changing rooms are a joke. I had a facial that was so-so. The room that I was in had water stains all over the ceiling tiles which made for an unpleasant start. The esthetician only used a couple of different oils/lotions and seemed very rushed to get through the process. When I finished with my facial, my face still seemed dry and my eyes were puffy and irritated. During my massage, when I was face-down, the male therapist removed the sheets and had my body almost fully revealed! When he had me roll over, he did not look away while I turned over. Instead he continued looking at me. To say the least, this was very uncomfortable and extremely inappropriate. This was the first time that I did not fall asleep during a massage because I felt so uncomfortable that I could not relax. My friend and I were suppose to finish our day with a pedicure, however when we went into the pedicure room, we couldn't even go through with it. They had metal bins that they had to hand fill with water that was supposed to be for your feet. We decided to cut our loses and leave. I would NEVER reccomend this place to anyone.

Cons: The entire experience

I was very disappointed with Spa Universaire. I was very excited upon arrival, because the Spa is located in a very cool building, so I assumed it would be a fabulous Spa. I was totally wrong. It is small, old smelling and the worse part about the entire experience was men and women share the same bathroom and waiting room. It is very strange to be sitting in your robe next to a couple of men in their robes as well. The service was decent; however, if you are looking for a true spa experience?.please go somewhere else.

The service is a little fluffy, but not required. Most of the individuals who work there have a professional and caring approach to their service. Ken S. is an amazing healer and does wonders with his massage. I would strongly recommend him for any deep tissue work, and I am sure he is equally as excellent with other types.

I went here for some services and this place is a joke. The staff has this RIDICULOUS greeting they give at the door that is so impersonal. The carpet is bright green and the interior decorating looks like it is from 1970. The staff seems so uptight, as if they miss a LINE in the script they will get fired- come on , just be yourself. The service was ok, but nothing special. There are many other places in Denver to go that beat this one.

I have been to probably every spa in this town, seriously. But, I have found a home at Spa Universaire. First, they ALWAYS treat me with respect, whether I am dressed nicely or in sweats. Second, their staff is always friendly and on top of things. Third, and most importantly, Keda is the best masseuse I have ever had. I have had massages with her and the Marma Point Massage (OH MY GOD) - they are both fabulous treatments. Keda listens to you and she is friendly before the massage begins, but then once it begins, she knows to let you relax. My only complaint is that, once in a while, they leave you sitting in that back area without you really knowing whether they know you're back there or that they know who you are. But, I've never had to wait too long and it is ALWAYS worth the wait (after all, you are there to relax - I just don't think most of us know how to do it!). This spa is the best.

My girlfriends and I went to this spa and were greeted by staff members who were awkward and unprofessional. My massage was a fine experience but I had to sit in the waiting room entirely too long. My girlfriends both had nail services done-when making the appointments they were told these services would take just over an hour and in reality their services took over two hours! One of the nail techs had a pleasant demeanor but the tech did an awful job. The other nail tech was rude and standoff-ish. I would never return to this spa and would never recommend this spa to anyone else.

Cons: Staff, Nail Services, Atmosphere

My girlfriend had bought me the gift of a massage from Spa Universaire. The people are very nice and the atmosphere is very relaxing. However, I would avoid the Massage at Spa Universaire. The therapist spent very little time on my high stress areas and areas I requested special attention. If you are looking for a place with friendly staff and to relax, this is the place. If you are looking for a good massage....keep on looking.

People assume that spa technicians get services for themselves on a regular basis. As an Esthetician, I can tell you "not so much". My boss rewarded me with a gift certificate here because she knew the owner, Caren, would make sure that I was well taken care of. This was such a treat because it got me out of my familiar atmosphere. I was prepared for a great experience and they delivered. The spa is beautiful. I had two very talented technicians; Anthony (for massage) and Kristen (for the facial and two body treatments). I could tell that both of these individuals really loved their profession. I KNOW when someone is giving from their heart versus going through the motions. I want to thank everyone for taking such good care of me. It's nice to know that I have some place to receive treatments outside of my workplace. Thanks again!!

I recently visited Spa Universaire.  I am an avid spa goer.  I experienced a facial that was extraordinary!  I have to say, I have found my new skin expert in Kristen.  I found her to be very knowledgeable on skin not to mention, her touch was excellent.  You can really tell she is very passionate and loves what she is doing!  I would highly recommend Kristen to anyone who wants to experience an excellent facial.  Also, the staff was friendly, helpful and courteous too. I will be returning to this spa, often!

Anyone looking for Kristen L. Lead Esthetician I found her at The Woodhouse Day Spa in Castle Pines at 880 Happy Canyon Road, Castle Rock, CO 80108 (720)895-8488 in the Village at Castle Pines.
It took me a while to trace her down but so worth the time. Now I can great facials again :-)

I absolutely loved my experience at Spa Universaire. The woman who did my facial recommended some products for me to use at home, instead of my regular bath bar and body lotion on my face regimen. I have been using these products that she recommended for the past three months and I notice an incredible difference in my skin! I highly recommend getting a facial at Spa Universaire!
