Extremely competent, affordable walk in service. My pets have been going to WAC for 14 years and we are very happy with the doctors and the staff. Cheryl up front could not be more caring when your animal is sick..

Have been to 5 vets in denver and WAC is by far the most fair in price and care. You do NOT need an appointment. Seriously. I have been about 10 times in 3 years and love the care and servcie they provide. They understand your love for

Dr. Shiarella is a very competent, compassionate, and caring veterinarian. He is excellent witht he animals and his clients. He's not in veterinary medicine for the money, so the practice isn't incredibly up to date and they do not have fancy high tech gadgets or a super modern facility. But does that really matter? Dr. Shiarella is a highly qualified vet.
The one thing I do not like is the lack of structure. There are no appointment slots available - it is a walk-in only clinic. This can be good if there is no one else waiting, but sometimes people can wait to have their animal seen for up to an hour or so.
The receptionist that everyone keeps refering to and complaining about is actually a Certified Veterinary Technician and she works as a technician and handles front desk duties. Actually both vet techs double as receptionists. Reception is not their priority, but I agree that they need to be kinder to clients that are concerned about the health of their animals. I know these women have worked at the Western Animal Clinic for several years, maybe they are just burnt out on it?

I can see how some of the previous reviewers cited how the front desk staff might not be the friendliest, but I would rather take my pets to a vet that charges more than fair prices and is wonderful with the animals than go to one who

I recently moved to Wheat Ridge and needed a vet to treat my dog's abcessed tooth. I decided to try them out because they were close and I didn't need an appointment - who doesn't require appointments? Also the dog had a large tumor that neede to be assessed. The vet was a great guy and sincerely concerned about the dogs problems. He was very gentle with the dog and gave me several treatment options of varying expense. They removed the tooth and tumor and the dog healed up great. The price was about half what my old vet would have charged me. This guy is a great vet. BTW the staff was caring and very professional.

Pros: High Quality, Convenient, Affordable

Cons: Not open Saturday afternoon

I called this vet upon getting my puppy and was inquiring about neutering. It took all of ten seconds to decide to look elsewhere because the receptionist was very rude and snippy with me on the phone (so sorry that you had to deal with me, wench; maybe you should apply for a job at the DMV?). I have to chuckle when I read the other reviews for this vet clinic: (a) the person who said this woman wasn't the most cordial person but that she's very competent and caring....yeah, right. She cares passionately about the animals but has no problem treating the owners like crap? That's a load of hogwash, most likely from someone at the clinic who's trying to curtail the bad press. (b) The other people on here who said the same thing about the receptionist as me: bingo. Bottom line: Look elsewhere, namely for a clinic who's front-desk people are just as passionate and nice as the vets themselves.

Pros: Example: best croissants in town

Cons: Very rude receptionist

It's true that the woman at the front is not initially the friendliest, but she loves the animals very much and is very competent and caring. The doctor is amazing and extremely kind and competent, and it is always apparent that he cares very much about the animals. Please don't be deterred from coming to this clinic. Also worth noting is that their prices are substantially lower than any other vet I've used.

The receptionist is the very last person that should ever be in customer service. Rude, condescending, curt. Walked my puppy right out the door after witnessing her in action while waiting for the doctor. She must be related to one of the vets because there's no other reason an employer would make such a piss-poor hiring decision. Unbelievable.

I have had many animals and been to many vets in Denver, but none of them have been as caring and competent as the Western Animal clinic. Dr. Shirella is great with both dogs and cats. He has helped us in putting down 3 cats when the time was right and was immensely caring, compassionate and helped us weigh the best course of action. He has also been great with our new animals. The prices are very reasonable and the hours are convenient. They have special times when its even cheaper to have your animals vaccinated.

Every time i call this clinic the receptionist who answers is extremely rude and snotty. I would never use this clinic just because of that, if the first person you talk to is like that who knows what the rest of the people are like there! GET A NEW RECEPTIONIST!!!!

I love Dr. Shirella. He helped us through a very rough time last year when we lost our dog, Layla to cancer. He made excellent medical referrals as well as provided excellent counsel when we struggled with when to euthanize her. We still see him to take care of our new puppy. It is obvious how much he cares about his canine patients. I would highly recommend Western Animal.

Pros: no appoints, walk-ins only, reasonable prices, easy parking

I would recomend this Clinic! They have two Vets that work at the clinic, but I have only seen Dr. Shiarella. He was really nice and handled my little dogs with great care. The prices are very reasonable as well.
