About 18 months ago, I had just moved to the area and switched from Comfort Dental Cherry Creek to the Louisville location. I had been receiving regular 6 month checkups/cleanings and have dental insurance. I have never had a cavity in my life, but did have an issue with receding gums on my lower teeth due to a retainer I had on my lower teeth as a teen. I was given an appointment with Dr. Abe Miller, who in my opinion is the most arrogant person I have ever met. After doing an initial exam (for about 5 minutes) and x-rays, he had me leave and schedule a second appointment. At the second appointment, he sat me down in a separate room with my x-rays and told me that he would have to remove 4 of my lower front teeth and put in a bridge, and he oh-so-conveniently knew that it would cost me $2500 out of pocket after insurance unless i decided to up my insurance to a higher plan. He also said I had 7 cavities that needed to be filled. I expressed my doubt that 7 cavities could have randomly occurred in a 6 month span, and he told me all about how sugar reacts with teeth (very interesting, considering i'm a Chemist and nothing he said made sense even when I called him out on it). I opted to just get the cleaning and told him to fill in the 2 most urgent cavities with White fillings rather than silver for aesthetic reasons. His prediction: "In 2 months, you will be back in here in so much pain that you will beg me to remove those bottom teeth." Cleaning was pretty routine. The fillings they put in were silver despite my request...and one of them was in a Wisdom tooth. Not once was I ever told that they were filling a wisdom tooth or given the option to just have it pulled! A month later I was still concerned and went to a new, non-corporate dentist with my X-rays in hand. Wouldn't you know it? I had no cavities! I did not need a bridge or any teeth removed! And the most shocking part? There was an extra tooth showing up on the X-ray, meaning that THE X-RAYS THEY SHOWED ME WERE NOT MINE TO BEGIN WITH! It's been 18 months, and I still have all of my teeth intact, that "filled" wisdom tooth has been removed by a dentist I trust, and my gum disease has been cured by some simple root planing. Bottom line: Dr. Abe Miller is not ethically fit to practice dentistry in my opinion.

I've been going here for about three years, mostly for just routine care and a couple of fillings. I chipped my front tooth almost in half in an accident and saw Dr Spencer. I thought he was VERY caring for my situation, made me comfortable and fixed my tooth with a temporary crown at the same appointment. The tooth was really sensitive to air and the shot I got I almost didn't even feel. The permanent crown has been on now for few a weeks, looks great and feels just like a normal tooth. Another big issue was that I was between jobs at the time and without insurance, Dr Spencer worked with me on the cost and made it affordable. It is a busy office most of the time but they do a great job. After looking at the previous reviews I would like to say also that I learned that Dr Miller is no longer working in this office and have seen that most of the bad/negative reviews here are about him. The Dentists here are great and friendly and I'm happy to be a patient here.

DON'T go here! They are "gold" diggers. I went for my semi-annual cleaning. Before they do anything, they do a consultation and take a full set of x-rays (which insurance doesn't pay for!!!). Then Dr. Miller tells me that I need 2 crowns on molars and it'll cost $2000 (insurance pays half)! BUT, if you pay up front, they give you a 10% discount. Believe me, it's not worth it at any price!!!

Inexperienced dental hygienists performed 90% of the work and it was painful as all get-out, while she repeatedly inserted and removed each crown over a dozen times!!! Meanwhile, her "trainer hygienist" sat in the other chair telling her what to do. I was in the chair for over 3 hours and when I finally was allowed to stand up, I almost fainted in the office. The hygienist didn't even see that I was in trouble until she noticed that I was leaning against the wall to keep from falling down. Never again!

Then I told Dr. Miller that one of the teeth was very sensitive to hot/cold/sweet and he waved me off and said, "Oh, that'll get better over time." It never has gotten better and still bothers me today.

Terrible, terrible place! Plus, after Dr. Miller got his $$$$ out of me, they never even asked to schedule follow up exams. All he was in it for was the big bucks. To Heck with the general day-to-day dental stuff.

Go elsewhere! Even if you don't have insurance, it's worthwhile to go to a good dentist and pay the price than try to get it done cheaply at Comfort Dental. You'll pay much more in the long run!

I saw another Dr and was told I would need a crown on a back tooth that was bothering me so I went to Comfort Dental and saw Dr Duey for a second opinion. He was listened to me and then told me that I did not need a crown but just a new filling (mine had cracked). He also spent the time to explain why my filling might have cracked (I clench) and other things I could do to keep this from happening again. It was very helpful, informative and educational. Thanks Comfort Dental for saving my teeth!!

I really don't understand the poor reviews on this site, because my family and I have been going to Comfort Dental in Louisville for several years and have had absolutely great service. We go every six months for cleanings and x-rays once a year, and have never been told we need treatments for bogus problems. I love that we can get in and out quickly and it is easy to make appointments. My kids don't even mind going to the dentist! I have never had problems dealing with staff, everyone is always friendly and easy to talk to. Their prices with the Gold Plan are great, too. Give Comfort Dental of Louisville a try!

I would not recommend Comfort Dental on McCaslin under ANY circumstances. We went there for the first time after not having any cavities for years (& taking very good care of our teeth). The dentist showed my husband and I x-rays and said that we both had six cavities. When we asked him to show us where specifically on the x-rays, he could not find them for a while, and then said they were in between our teeth. He told me that I must be drinking soda all day to have that amount of cavities in one year. I do not drink soda, only water all day and am fairly conscious of what I put into my body. We both had a second opinion with new x-rays (the ones we brought from Comfort Dental were so bad the Dr. could not read them), and we HAD NO CAVITIES. We did not tell the new dentist anything that the old one had said to make sure he did not tell us something we wanted to hear. DO NOT GO HERE! Imagine them taking out real teeth for NO reason!

I went into Comfort Dental with a tooth ache and everyone was very nice. I did not have an appointment and the assistants got me back in about 10min. I saw Dr Spencer and he was very kind to me and very gentle when he was working on me. I didn't even feel the shots. I also saw Dr. Lowry for a root canal he was a very good and gentle as well. I know about the girl that has a baby in the office and she only has the baby during the last hour that the office is open after daycare. I will be returning to this office for all of my dental care. Everyone from the front office to the assistants to the doctors were outstanding.

Is this Comfort Dental or a Day care? There is always a employee's baby in the office! ! Unprofessional!

Dr. Spencer and Dr. Lowery and staff are great. I had been told for years that I would need extensive crowns due to years of re-filling my molar fillings and a broken tooth sent me in to have it all checked out. The Drs. explained everything along the way. They worked with me on my insurance which is about to expire due to job loss. They even quoted me a discounted price good for forever for the other less-urgent work that I need to have done. Dr. Lowery's root canal was the best one that I've ever had (I've had 3 now) and he answered all of my annoying questions.
I do agree with some of the reviews that it feels a bit like an upsell when they talk to you first, but I appreciate being told up front what is vital and less vital, and being given that option. I will definitely be back and consider these doctors to now be my dentists.

The dentist deliberately injured my teeth to try and drum up business.
They also billed me for work they did not do.
Incredibly evil place. GO ELSEWHERE.

I learned along time ago to take care of my teeth, and a part of that is teeth cleaning. I secluded a cleaning (first time visit) and and was told by the dentist that i would have to come back because the first appointment was only a introduction to the dentist. I finilly got my teeth "cleaned." I got xrays, then teeth polished and the dentist scraped my teeth (or what ever it's called.) In that order, I would call the experience BAD. Then the dentist told me I NEEDED a root canal and the cap. I was skeptical so I went to a much more expensive dentist for a second opinion, they didn't see ANY signs that I needed a root canal. I will never go there again, worst ever. Not even worth the price.

I know to ask if the person cleaning my teeth is a licensed dental hygienist. dentists and assistants are not trained to clean teeth. Red flag!

I have been to several other Comfort Dental's (Northglenn and Arvada), they do not hold a candle to this one. All of the dentists here are professional and very caring. I moved out of state after being a patient for five years. The first cleaning I had out of state I was told I had eight cavities, I was very concerned because I had never had cavities before in my life, however had this Comfort Dental do a crown and a root canal because of an accident. When I was back in town for Christmas, I paid out of pocket to see them, and found out no cavities. Now whenever I need dental work done, I make sure to handle it while I happen to be visiting my family.

I am changing my rating to 5 stars. I have had two teeth extracted, a bridge put in and am in the process of getting a new crown by Dr. Spencer in Louisvile. I totally recommend Dr. Spencer. I have no experience with other dentisits at this practice, but Dr. Spencer has done great work, I bought the insurance for 130 per year, they also have worked with me on payments. The work he has done has been good, relatively painless, and affordable. The dental assistants were also fine and just as well trained and professional as any others I have encountered over the years. No one likes to go to the dentist. I have gone to many over the years. I have saved over half of what I would pay somewhere else, and feel that I got excellent care and they did not over state what I needed to have done. Never have I had a long wait and have gotten right in when I have called to make an appointment. I am grateful to this practice for offering very affordable and good dental care.

I had a temporary tooth that I had for years. It stayed in and looked fine. One day I was at work which was located in Louisville and the tooth came loose. I went to the Louisville office and paid half of the fee for the permanent tooth so that it could be ordered. Before my tooth came back I was laid off and was out of work for 4 months. When I got back on my feet they could not find the tooth that they had ordered for me. It just dissappeared. Not very professional nor organized.

This practice is horrible and they lie lie lie!! Quoted me a price then changed it when we went to have work done. They absolutely lied....DO NOT GO HERE!!! A regular dentist is cheaper and far more honest! Be prepared, what they tell you they will do and what it will cost are two very different things!! HORRIBLE NASTY RUDE LIARS!!! Hated giving one star, they certainly do not deserve it!! Have to give at least a star per this site to review...I would rate them at negative and far below if possible! Negative 100 stars would be a good rating!! Liars and false advertising big time!!! Do yourself a favor...and simply STAY AWAY!!! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!

In general, all Comfort Dentals are sort of a scam. Dr. Miller is okay, but the office is definitely hurried. I went in for a cleaning and it was very rushed; the assistant even forgot to floss my teeth. They can not force you to do anything you do not want. Crowns and root canals don't always go hand in hand...x-rays are not necessary every six months, through they will want you to do so. Do your research, say no or get a second opinion, even if they tell you they "recommend it"...remember they said recommend not MUST.

Please believe all of the negative reviews - they are dead-on correct! I went in for an exam just yesterday, and was told (condescendingly) that I had the beginning signs of periodontitis, heavy tartar pockets, several cavities, and needed porcelain veneers to fix a tiny chip in my front tooth . I was shocked and dismayed to hear all of this, because I practice excellent oral hygiene at home, and have had no pain or problems; this was supposed to be a routine check-up. I had an uneasy feeling, so when I went home I read the reviews some have posted here. I should have done that before my appt., because I was horrified at what I read from other patients, and it sounded all too familiar. I immediately scheduled an appt. for the next day with another local dentist (not associated with Comfort Dental), had my appt. there this morning and what do you know...I have ZERO cavities ( I was actually shown the digital x-rays, unlike at Comfort Dental), I have very healthy teeth and gums, and this dentist was able to quickly, easily, and inexpensively ($25) repair my chipped tooth with some filing and polishing, right there on the spot. My smile looks great now, NO thanks to Comfort Dental of Louisville! I am planning to contact my insurance company to alert them of what is going on, because it seems this dental practice is committing some kind of fraud by trying to make patients think they need services they don't need, and then billing the insurance companies for the cost. They are taking advantage of people who don't know any better, through their condescending attitude of "I'm the dentist and you're the patient so I know what's best", and it is just plain dishonest. Trust these reviews, trust your gut (I'm so glad I did), and stay far, far away from Comfort Dental!

The office was busy but friendly, clean and affordable. Having not been to a dentist in awhile I feared for the worst. I expected problems with my teeth and was relieved when I was informed of only a few cavities and scaling for my bleeding gums. The doctor informed me of the size and location of the cavities and I was given the choice of white or silver fillings. I was also informed of options to treat my stained and slightly crooked teeth, I opted not to because it was just for "looks". The treatment was done over a couple of visits, seemlessly, almost painlessly and I plan to return for future check-ups. The office was recommended by a friend and I would recommend anyone else!

The treatment was done over a couple of visits, seemlessly, almost painlessly and I plan to return for future check-ups. The office was recommended by a friend and I would recommend anyone else!

Do NOT GO! Amateur dental assistants. Rushed and harried Dentist. Shady business practices.
Poor skills and service. Stay away. Stay far away.

I had to talk the dentist out of a root canal when a crown was all I needed and they would not clean my teeth until all fillings were completed. I had to sit there for 4 hours while poorly skilled and uncomfoirtable hygienists came in and out. All told, with two fillings, some x rays, a crown (that required 4 visits), I spent at least 10 hours in their office. That is ridiculous. My wife's work is substandard too - she's a former assistant show she knows.

Cheap, yes. Decent, no. Service, poor. Shardy, yes.

I had my teeth extracted by Dr. Spencer which he did a good job . Then I went in for a regular cleaning and it was done by Dr. Miller in less than twenty minutes. I was surprised that it was so quick because it usually take an hour , at lease 30 minutes at other dental office .It was like an assembly line , one doctor take care of several patients at the same time . I was told it will be all covered by the insurance . Couple weeks later , I got the statement from insurance , Dr. Miller submitted the claim as perio scale which cost $651.60 and i was responsible for $186 . I called the dental office and they told me that the fee was waived . But I told them that it should be just regular clean and they need to correct the claim . I have done deep clean before , how you can do deep clean with one sitting , in less than twenty minutes , without anesthesia ? And if Dr. Miller really did the deep cleaning , why he waved the fee I owed ? After several phone calls , I finally got to talk to Dr. Miller . He insisted that it was deep clean and he refused to correct the claim since he already received the money from my insurance company . He offered to redo the clean which I declined . THIS IS INSURANCE FRAUD !

A great, affordable, quick & kind place to get dental work. If you are a total baby or diva/divo, maybe you want to spend 4 times more in Boulder and have your ego stroked instead of just having the work done in a competent manner. I don't! We really like both the dentists. The staff doesn't sit around talking to me about stupid stuff, but they are getting their jobs done. We have gone there for about 4 years. It is the only way I can afford dental work for my kids and I. We don't have major problems because WE BRUSH OUR TEETH and TAKE CARE OF THEM. Dentists don't make cavities - improper care does. If you had to have more care, you probably don't take care of your teeth. I am going there today, I am anxious for a lovely experience. If you need a tissue - ASK FOR IT. These comments are crazy. You have to take care of your self and if you need something, ask for it. They are working hard and seeing many people. STOP WHINING!!!

I have had nothing but wonderful service from this group of dentists, especially Dr Miller. I am not a family member of anyone there and certainly no one has bribed me. My son, who recommended me to this practice, also has received wonderful service and he, too, received no bribe.

This place was an assembly line! I have never been treated so badly and with such little dignity. I should have stopped going there right away but I had to get the work finished that they had started. I received several weeks of low quality work being juggled between several of their dentists and assistants with work quality decreasing. The last and worst of the dentists did not give me any options! Even though I told him I wanted white fillings he insisted that silver is recommended and he went ahead and did the silver mercury anyway against my preference. Second the final bill was double what they quoted us. Right in the middle of intense drilling he said in a frustrated voice, "I'm just gonna have to do a root canal OK?" I did not want a root canal but he put me on the spot! My teeth were already drilled into so I reluctantly nodded my head! What was I supposed to do? Then he got a phone call from his wife and he left me there for over 15 minutes with my mouth wide open! Unbelievable! I was there for almost 3 hours! I am currently spending lots of money to redo the work but this time at a real dentist who is repairing all the poor quality work that I received at "Comfort Dental". Comfort Dental have cost me a lot of time, pain, and money!! They should change their name to Discomfort Dental!!

the doctors @ this office are awesome!!! I went in for some major dental work!! I was in a serious amount of pain & on arrival, I found the staff & doctors to be not only very kind, but also very informative!!! in addition, the doctors were very gentle!! I did see all three doctors...Dr.Duey, Dr. miller, & Dr. spencer because I have a very unusual work schedule. Comfort Dental has very accommodating hours, which is imperative in my line of work!!! The doctors have finally completed all repair that was needed to get my mouth back in tip top shape!! I feel healthy again & my smile looks perfect - that is saying alot considering what I presented to them when I first walked in the door!!! I'm overwhelmed by the true concern that the doctors showed me also. after each procedure, the doctor that treated me on that particular day would call & see how I was feeling & see if I had any questions or concerns!!! WOW... that's all i can say!!! i will be a loyal patient forever more!! Thank you doctors- from the bottom of my heart!

We moved to Louisville and we pick up this place because it is near our home.

here comes our story.

My wife had done intensive surgery last year for all the things required, crowns, root canals, whatever. We thought this should make her care free at least for the next couples of years, after spending $2k ~ $3k out of pocket.

This year my wife wants to have her wisdom teeth extracted and we visit this place to do a routine checkup. Dr. Miller said she needs 3 other crowns/root canals.

Wow, they really want to make some money!!! We should just extract all the teeth and then replace with artificial, that is way cheaper than crown every tooth one by one.

They did a full-mouth x-ray and kept the films, even though they could not do the surgery. The dentist who could do it needs x-ray film. I have to borrow them from comfort dental. And they will only lend films that they think "necessary" for the surgery, which do not show the wisdom teeth (Darn!!). And we have to do a new x-ray at the new place. As we expected, the surgery dentist said my wife's teeth are in "good shape" and no other treatment is needed at this time.

I want to ask Dr. Miller, which teeth is he going to crown/root canal? But I just do not want to talk to them any more.

I had to take all 3 of my girls in at once (ages 6,5,3). The 2 older girls had different techs clean their teeth while the younger one watched. They were friendly and made the girls feel at ease. Even the 3 year old (who doesn't like strangers) allowed them to clean her teeth (although they weren't able to get her x-rays done). I wasn't berated for allowing my daughter to suck her thumb which has been an issue in the past with previous dentists. They didn't find any extra work that needed to be done and the dentist was a dad of 3 who took the time to answer my questions. All in all I experienced nothing that would turn me off to this practice. From the front desk to the back, everything was smooth and timely.

How do I make a new review about Comfort Dental on W.64th in Arvada? Anyone know?

I'm bet there are many more who would like to talk about their experiences at that office.

It should be worth noting that this office has recently changed hands. I returned as a patient after the change, and have been very impressed. They stand by their work and have also been very gracious in correcting some issues with work that was poorly done by the predecessors.

I've never had a dentist who took the time to know me and follow up like I have had here. There are 3 dentists at this office, I usually see Dr. Duey, but the others are great as well. And you can't beat the flexible hours with evenings and weekends always available!

From someone with a mouthful of dental work and a long history of dentists, this is a good one!

After no longer having insurance we visited Comfort Dental in need of a basic exam and cleaning. By the 3rd visit we still had not received the cleaning we initially came in for. After receiving a second opinion we were informed we didn't need 1/2 the work Comfort Dental recommended. I can't agree more with the previous review that said "you get what you pay for."

I wish I had checked the reviews here first. This place was miserable. I first had a cleaning, then x-rays. I expected just the usual bite-wings but they gave me a series of 18! The cleaning was okay, but instead of having of suctioning out my mouth properly, they told me to swallow. Then when the hygienist polished my teeth, the trainee didn't know how to suction saliva/water. They finally got done and then I was told I had 4 small cavities. Came back for filling. First they didn't ask me if I wanted Novocaine (I normally don't unless it's a deep filling, which was only once).Gave me four shots. I was miserable. I was drooling like a slob and no one gave a tissue. Then they used those bands around my teeth (never had these before--my husband had them once with a root canal he said, but these were minor fillings--the dentist hardly drilled--I could have easily done it without Novocaine.). Took them over an hour for something that a good dentist could have finished in 20 minutes. Oh, and except for the drilling, the dentist hardly did a lick of work. The techs did the actually filling part and they were awful. They complained my mouth was small. I've had braces as a child and never was I told this. I was just so frickin numb that I couldn't open my mouth.I was in pain for several days and my jaw still hurts a week later. For four minor cavities.

My visit to this place has been a nightmare. I won't spare you the horror of what they did to my teeth, but I had to pay another dentist a lot of money to redo what they should have taken care of. A couple of crowns, some bad fillings all had to be redone. Not to mention that most of the staff here was replaced last year. Maybe they will get some new help. If you want a dentist who spends time with you, experienced proffesionals, and value your time, don't ever go here. You get what you pay for.

I came to comfort dental to check up on some tooth pain I was having. Come to find out I needed to have 3 Crowns. I was horrified. Like most people I'm not a big fan of the dentist chair. However the staff and Doc was great. The doctor kept me informed about all the work that was taking place. I had no fear and most of all no pain. They were very very nice. when I got home and told my husband what i had spent for the 3 crowns, He said I was lucky. Because he had spent that on one crown. You must see for your self......Even the gals in the front were helpful and I the best thing is the hours. They can accommodate with my strange work schedule. I recommend this office to everyone....

I have gone to this comfort dental for my dental care for the last year. After getting ripped off by my last dentist, I decided to make the switch to this office. They are friendly and very affordable. The office isnt the brown palace, but it appears to be clean and well maintained. The staff are very upbeat. I was able to get three crowns done here for the same price my previous dentist charged for one!

They seem to be very busy, but I was there in the evening, and it seemed liked I was getting the after work crowd. It was fine by me because I was able to get my dental appointment taken care of without having to miss work. I have read the other reviews on here and I disagree. This is a great office and I will continue to go there, if I need work in the future.

First of all, when my wife scheduled the appointment, she specifically asked for a checkup and cleaning, which the receptionist said would be fine.

So. We went there, went through the typical new patient bureaucracy of filling out forms, insurance paperwork etc, then waited our turn. We were then led back to a small consultation room where we had to wait for our dentist. We waited for a while, then he showed up and introduced himself. He was friendly enough, but he just kept talking and talking and talking, during which we found out that we couldn't get our teeth cleaned during that visit. They would only do a checkup and, if they found cavities, they would insist on doing that work first before doing a cleaning. We didn't like this policy at all -- I've been going to various dentists for over 30 years and have never heard of such a thing. They gave us all kinds of BS justifications, but the reason why was obvious -- they wanted to force us to pay for the more expensive procedure first, and if we didn't like it, well, they would just deny us the cleaning we asked for from the outset.

And BTW because of all this mindless back & forth, we had spent 50 minutes there already and STILL not had anyone actually look at our teeth. It was late in the day, I was tired from work, I wanted to go home and relax. But instead I have to sit here and argue with these guys. (Note that I'm not the argumentative type. I probably have overpaid for a lot of things over the years because of that, but this was just too bogus to allow through my radar.)

It was ridiculous. If they hadn't attracted so much attention to their misdirection in the first place, I would gladly have had my cleaning today and come back for a filling if I needed it.

Anyway, after all that crap they finally put us in our chairs. I wasn't surprised when they found a cavity, but they wanted me to get it filled right then & there. They said it would take 30-40 minutes. As I said, it was late & I was tired, so I wanted to reschedule. They said fine. Then I asked if I could get a cleaning while I was there. Sorry, no, that's too much work, it would take too long, blah blah blah. I later asked one of the assistants how long a cleaning takes. Shes said 30-45 minutes. So I asked why they were so eager for me stay & get my cavity filled but didn't seem to have time for a cleaning. She didn't have a good answer.

I won't bore you with any more details, but suffice it to say this is the most contentious encounter I've ever had with the health care system. The dentist realized pretty quickly that he'd gotten off on the wrong foot with me and kept apologizing. I tried to along with it for a while, but their incredibly stubborn unwillingness to JUST. CLEAN. MY. TEETH! spoiled it.

I don't know if they're any good at dentistry or not. They were too busy trying to do a bait & switch on us for me to find out. I can't believe I wasted over an hour & a half on this.

I went to Comfort Dental for my annual checkup and cleaning. I found out that I also needed two fillings. I literally felt as if I were on an assembly line. The dentist breezed in to speak to me for a few minutes. That was all he could spare, since he was working on four or five patients simultaneously.

He did the bare minimum of work before leaving me in the hands of his assistants (who were not even hygienists, by the way) to do the actual cleanings and fillings. Is this even legal? The dentist breezed back in at the end and approved the work.

If my insurance is being billed the same amount for a dental assistant to do the work as for the dentist, then I would prefer not to be experimented upon.

The fillings were done incorrectly, by the way.

.

I went here for an annual checkup and cleaning once and was not no inspired that I feel like I ever want to go back. (I have lots of providers to choose from with my insurance.) They did the usual battery of mouth x-rays and then a cleaning. The dentist was quite friendly, but not in a really meaningful way - if that makes sense. Curteous for the sake of courtesy. I felt like they knew what they were doing, but it's not "world class" by any means.
