Cache Cache is a regular stop for us when we are in town. The food is always fabulous and you never have to order the same thing for fear you won't like something new. We are never disappointed.

Cache-Cache is perfect not only for a special occasion dinner in Aspen but for day in and day out reliability, great service, & stand-out food. The waitstaff is well-trained & anticipates your needs without being obsequious. The decor is restful and although usually full, the noise isn't overwhelming.

The menu and wine list are extensive and never have I ordered anything that wasn't excellent.

We love Cache Cache. We have gone now each time we have skiied in Aspen. The first time we went we had heard about their "Bar Menu" on Rachael Ray's $40 a Day show. We had no idea this "Bar Menu" concept existed.

Last year my husband and I had pork and trout, a glass of wine each, split a salad and had dessert all for $70 with tip! This year we had wine, salad, pasta and steak and dessert for $80!!! Now that is a GREAT value.

We have never eatten in the main restaurant, so we cannot comment on that, but if you are not against a bar table or sitting at the bar and talking with others, the bar is the way to go! If you do want to eat in the main dinning room, make a reservation! We heard many people walk in looking for a reservation and could not get one.

It takes more than decent food and decor to make it work. Theres a third ingredient often the most important called service. Unfortunately, this is where Cache Cache has recently fallen short, and it clearly comes straight from the top. On our recent visit, the only dish we stuck around for was a heaping plate of Rudeness, delivered directly by the owner.

Lets begin with the first course. When queried about the status of a table, we were served with an appetizer of Condescension, a wagged finger in a saucy Honey, go sit down at the bar, Ill find you when Im ready for you. Not much flavor, as you might imagine. Assuming this came from a stressed out hostess on a busy night, however, we stuck around and were seated shortly afterward.

Given the acidic taste left from this unconventional appetizer, we mentioned the incident to the waiter. A polite, genuinely concerned fellow, he inquired which of his staff could possibly have passed such an odious affront. When my wife i.d.d the offending culprit, the waiter paused, then confessed thats not the hostess, thats the owner. And, he didnt seem too surprised.

Second course a Haughty Snub. I asked the waiter to invite the owner over to the table to explain her behavior. He blanched, then disappeared. Knowing that some messengers fear being shot, I inquired again several minutes later. Please ask her if she has the courage to speak with a customer. This time, he bucked it up and went to her. But instead of an explanation, I saw her quickly glance back at us, flip the hair, and scurry inside. The waiter came back empty-handed: shes not going to come over.

So we left. There are too many truly great restaurants in Aspen to put up with this.

Jodie, the owner, is in the front of the dining room every night to welcome you to her restaurant. The food is traditional Ameri-French and teh decor warm and realxing. However, it gets very crowded, and rowdy at the bar. I have been coming here with my family for years, and there is a reason why we come back all of the time. The food stays the same, becaus ethe formula actually works. Hooooray for Jodie, and her polished and diligent staff!
