For several years my family avoided the Denver Zoo. Just last week we decided to give it another try and were pleased to see that improvements have been made. Parking congestion has been eased by a well-lit parking garage. Several of the displays have been updated to allow the animals more room in a more natural habitat. We still feel several areas need improvement. It always seems to smell much worse than any other zoo we have been to. The food is terribly overpriced (but very tasty). Some of the habitats seem very crowded or unnatural for the animal.

The price seems about average for similar activities. There are yearly passes available reasonably priced. The employees are friendly and informative.

PROS: Improving the Habitats, Friendly Employees, Reasonable Yearly Rates
CONS: Smelly, Expensive Food, Stll a lot of Outdated Habitats

So it may not be "world class" but the Denver Zoo is very, very good and it's the best Colorado has. We have a family membership and it's been so much fun to take a friend and all of our kids out for the day. The exhibits are fun, there is a great variety of animals and the food (at Sambuku Grill - I think that's the name) is very good. If you have a membership you get a % off the food, which makes it very affordable.

The carousel and train rides are a lot of fun, too!

The Denver Zoo has been a favorite of mine since I was a child. However in the past few years the Denver Zoo has gone under amazing changes, and now has much more exhibits to offer visitors.

Located in Denver's City Park, the zoo is in a convenient location. The Denver Museum is located right next to the zoo, making a full day event (admission is required at both).

The zoo is open every day of the year, and closes at either 4pm or 5pm depending on the season.

Admission is a bit steep, but with the new attractions it is well worth it. Children under 3 are free, ages 3-1 are $7.00, ages 12-64 are $11.00, and 65+ are $9.00.

Predator Ridge is a fantastic exhibit that was opened this year. The aquatic life on exhibit is awsome, much better than ocean journey. The bird house is a must see, with birds all around you freely walking and flying.

The food is a bit pricey, but you can bring in your own food and enjoy a picnic (be sure to bring a blanket). A large majority of the zoo has shade, except the newer portions of the zoo (to the east) due to everything being so new.

So gather up the children, take a picnic, and get ready for a day of adventures.

PROS: New exhibits, lots of animals
CONS: Pricey Food

This zoo is your typical zoo. This place has friendly employees, and friendly animals! The animals are cute. But to gain enterance, you must have a HUGE budget!

This zoo was pretty good, I liked to see the elephants get their baths and it was cool to see the vampire bats get fed. The wolves were too skinny, though.

PROS: Elephants bathing
CONS: Expensive

This is one attraction in Denver I never get tired of visiting. It's especially exciting in the spring and early summer when there's usually baby animals of some kind to be found throughout the zoo. I especially like the orangutans and the gorilla exhibits. This is a great, family friendly facility with lots of learning opportunities and fun. They've done a lot of exhibit updates also to make things look more like the animals' original habitats. They're also pretty easily accessable in Denver and have plenty of parking in their underground garage.

I was very disappointed with the Denver Zoo in the last few years because of the massive construction. However, my family and I visited this year and what a difference! All of the construction is complete and the zoo is absolutely beautiful. The animals looked happy and well cared for as well. A great place to take the kids, and they even have a "shuttle" if your legs get tired of walking.

We have had a membership to the zoo for 4 years. I have children ranging in age from 2-10 and we all enjoy the zoo. My kids beg to go every week! Don't miss the Primate Panorama -- it's a hike to get there, but worth every step!

I'm quite impressed with the Denver Zoo. -Although some of the exhibits are less than amazing (like the big cats & the primates), others, like the aquatic animals, are great. -I've been able to identify more fish at the zoo than at Ocean Journey Aquarium!
Lots of free parking and seasonal exhibits make this a family favorite.

This is a great place to take the family. The newly updated exhibits. All of the new babies. The large Tropical Discovery. You learn something new every time that you visit. It still has the old charactorisitc's of the old zoo I grew up knowing . And now it has so much more. Predutor ridge is an experience in and of itself. Food cost is a little high but then how would they keep open if they didn't charge something. The one thing we did not care for was the bird house, it is old and stinky. Not that they really have control over the smell. The cost of a family membership is well worth it. It is a place to escape in the summer when you have done everything else.

Choose a sunny spring day, bring your kids, sunblock, and a some snacks and you have a great outing. This zoo is up to date, well laid out and fun. Be sure to ride the carousel.

This 80-acre zoo in the heart of Denver is good and is working on improvements, but the exhibits and the technology are dated.

They have recently updated the Primate exhibit, which allows the primates to roam freely within a 1-acre enclosure. Also, the new Tropical exhibit boasts the world's largest indoor habitat for komodo dragons.

However, the remainder of the zoo seems small and dated, not a world-class zoo.
