Every time I go into Albertons I am reminded of that "scab" called Pet City. I just don't understand the pet trade business. What happens to the puppy that doesnt sell and keeps getting older? does he get sent back for a younger version? Bet he gets turned into a breeder. You know how horrible a breeder's life is? I just adopted Gideon a GS mix from the Larimer Humane Society. Talk about perfection. At five months well socialized, I can take him anywhere. Great health his vet loves him. Brilliance! With so many already out there on the verge of death, why buy? I just dont get it....*Debz scratches head in thoughtful confusion

I just lost the most magnificent pet that I have loved on Sunday. I bought him 12 years ago from Pet City, and he has been a healthy, happy, intelligent golden retriver/irish setter dog. I also own a 4 year old beautiful, smart, and darling cocker spaniel that I purchased here 4 years ago. When I took the cocker to my vet for her first checkup, she exclaimed, "Why did you get a cocker?". I urged her to reserve judgment until she spent some time with her. Immediately my vet declared that she was a wonderful puppy, and that she could single handedly change the bad image cockers have acquired over the years. My heart is broken over the loss of my old boy, but he lived a healthy, happy life. The day I find another like him at Pet City will be a blessed day for me.

It is simple thinking to conclude as some do that to buy from a pet store is to buy from a puppy mill. Of course, the conditions in a pet store are crowded. It is a pet store! Convenience is important to many of us who don't have the contacts to buy from a breeder, which is really no guarantee of anything. I recently bought a male mini-schnauzer, about 3 months old at the time of purchase. Two days later I took him to a local vet and he passed all medical exams with flying colors. Two months later, I can say I have been blessed with a very intelligent, loving, exceedingly healthy little companion. I could not have asked for any better. This pet store provides vet/medical assurances with your purchase. This is the second dog that I have bought from a Pet City, the first in a store in Texas, another mini schnauzer who lived a very healthy and long life. Don't let the pet store scare tactics dissuade you from your purchase of a puppy. These little fellows want a good home too. Give them one.

I feel bad for the puppies at Pet City. Cramped living conditions, access to fresh air and play time is limited, eating, sleeping and elimination all happen in the same place. BUT, these conditions are nothing compared to the inhospitable and abusive environments where most of the puppies are breed. Get the registration number and the name of the breeder and you can go online to confirm the orgin of the dog. It just takes a little bit of research. I did this with two little greyhounds from Pet City and my suspicions were confirmed, they were both from puppy mills. So sad. I wouldn't purchase form Pet City or any pet store. If you buy from them, you are contributing to the million dollar industry of inhumane breeding. If you can live with that, than I'm sure you won't be able to live with the vet bills that will begin to add up from buying a sick puppy.

When we moved into our new house we told our 6 year-old daughter that we could get a puppy. We went to Pet City to get an idea of what kind of puppy would be good for us. We played with about 5 different puppies. The employee who helped us was helpful and very patient. We decided on this very cute cavachon - her name is Molly. We have had her now for 2 months and she has been a complete joy. She loves my daughter (and vice versa). When we take for walks she is the hit of the neighborhood.

Our house is full of pets who needed a new home because the owner had to get rid of them, strays or FREE" from the side of the road. While on vacation in May we happened into Pet City. They had just received a new shipment of puppies. NEVER did I EVER consider getting a pet from a pet store, but on this day one little Pappie-poo caught my eye. The next day on our way back home we stopped in and bought the pup. She rode over 2,000 miles to her new home without a single incident. Having two black labs over 100 pounds each, two cats, one over 20 pounds and a chinchilla, I was worried about introducting her to the family. However, this puppy had apparently been introduced to other animals, she was completely comfortable with even our big dogs, she was nearly house trained and she had been socialized, she goes everywhere with us and we never have a problem with her behavior. A soon as we got home we immediately took her to our Vet who gave her a complete exam and declared she is a picture of perfect heath. I am not sure if Pet City gets pets from multiple breeders and some are better than others or if we just got lucky but we are totally happy with our puppy. Our only regret is that we did not take her litter mate, too.

I recently got a puppy here and as much as I love him, his medical problems have nearly cost as much as he did. He is now needing surgery.

With hesitation, I bought a Malamute from Pet City last summer for the going rate for that particular breed. He is 1 now, and is a beautiful dog! He was very skittish at first; however, with proper training and lots of love, he is coming out of it as he gets older. He is so strikingly beautiful that people are shocked when I tell them where I got him. The fact that he could've come from a puppy mill keeps me up at night though - but once I saw him - I couldn't just leave him there. His older "brother" is a Bernese Mountain Dog from a breeder in Missouri, and I love them both. I saw two Bernese Mountain Dogs at Pet City about 4 years ago around Thanksgiving time, and they wanted over $2100 for EACH dog! I called a breeder to price check and they said that was highway robbery! Do your homework if you are going to buy from Pet City - and even though I caved once, I will never buy from a pet store again. The puppy mill stories are heartbreaking and I'm definitely feeling some guilt.

My parents have gotten two jack russells from this shop, the older of the two (she's 6) has always acted skittish and has problems with feeding. She gets very stressed out about food and acts as though we're going to take it away from her--we've always free fed our dogs. The younger dog also has an eating issue, his issue is that he will eat so quickly that he makes himself sick, not to mention if he can he'll steal from the other dogs. The dogs are all fed separately in their own enclosures but they still have these problems. I had also purchased two baby pet rats one of which I woke up to find dead not 12 hours after purchasing her. When I called the store the owner said he didn't even SELL two rats the night before. He was accusing me of being an irresponsible owner because the cashier didn't have me sign the 14 day guarantee paper and because she rang them up as MICE. It's like oh sorry I didn't know I was going to buy something that was going to die in a few hours...? Not to mention it was like 10 minutes before closing, I was just happy to have my furry friends. He was entirely rude and inconsiderate. I would NEVER purchase another animal from them. I can't stand the owner's behavior nor the thought of those poor puppies caged up as they are.

My wife and I have purchased puppies from breeders and adopted them from the pound. The best dog we ever got was from Pet City. She is a 1-year-old bundle of love. The person who helped us was very patient and helpful - we had lots questions and weren't sure we should get a puppy from a pet store. But after looking at a few other dogs and puppies we picked Tippy and now we couldn't be happier.

We Bought a puppy from Pet City about 6 months ago, she is a Chocolate lab. We love her but she has several problems learning, we also recently discovered that she has Hip problems at the young age of 8 months old, Our vet says that she most likely was inbred and or came from a unhealthy breeder... We have been sad to learn of this for surgery is over $2000. Pet City is not willing to help with costs. There idea of fixing the problem is taking the dog back for a new puppy, that is not an option for us and we are horrified by there lack of support in this manner. Hope you take consideration of this review due to the unprofessional ethics of Pet City and the lack of care for there animals, we have learned that its all about money to them and not the customer or pet. In all due to this animals like our puppy Ruger have to go threw pain and surgery or even worse in other cases.

Pet City is a smaller pet store located inside the Foothills Mall. While the puppies and kittens may seem to be cute, they are not treated properly, being left in too small of a space, with very little attention given to them. Because of this, most of the dogs I have seen there have been overly excited and rowdy. All of the dogs are way overpriced, because it is in a mall, from what could be found from a specific breeder. The customer service is not satisfactory, and I have found some of the representatives to be rude.
However, the dogs are registered and have had their shots.
