So I used to love this place. Good food, reasonable prices, nice wait-staff. At least that's what I was remembering before our last visit. We waited almost 15 minutes after seating to place our orders, two plates came out cold, and there

I've been going to AAK for a number of years, and it's has been the only really affordable family restaurant in Longmont since the demise of Furr's (I don't count the execrable Country Buffet or the overpriced and unlamented, late Pioneer Pies).

AAK has a wide selection of American diner style dishes as well a good number of Mexican dishes. It offers a very friendly if rather earthy atmosphere. "Haute cuisine" in a tony setting it's not, but AAK doesn't pretend to be anything more than it is--a diner for regular folks. If you don't like it, there are plenty of expensive restaurants in town where you can be assured you won't get the same bang for the buck.

AAK maintains that nearly extinct tradition of a lunch counter--a much needed social space for casual coffee drinkers or workers having a quick dinner-- that many restaurants have chosen to eliminate.

Mark, Pat, and Gene do a creditable job in getting to know their customers. The cooks are fast and efficient and the waitresses generally provide prompt service.

AAK has its problems--sometimes decaf isn't really decaf and the vegetables are overcooked, but a message to the managers usually sets things right. I recommend the French toast combo for breakfast. For lunch, try the steak sandwich. Dinner? You can't go wrong with the senior sized chicken fried steak, a real bargain. And don't forget that Tuesday and Saturday after four is "free pie night."

If you want a basic American traditional meal at an affordable price with fast friendly service in a comfortable environment, try Aunt Alice's Kitchen.

O.k people, take it from someone who used to work there-Not only is the food terrible-but so is the staff! Specifically the owners. The place is full of dirty low down scum-and the only people that aren't scumbags know who they are, and I have made it my personal goal to get them out of there! Two down Mark and Pat- two to go! Put that on your "cleaning house" list!

It is nice to go to a local family place-there are not many of those left anymore. However, I have found that over the past 2-3 years the amount of grease has gotten out of control.

It can get quite noisy if you go to Aunt Alice's Kitchen during the peak lunch/dinner times. Sometimes there can be a wait as well, but generally takes no more than 5-10 minutes on average.

The menu has a variety of items, main cafe style options, nothing too bizarre or unusual. The prices are good for what you get, the waitstaff is quite friendly and checks in often. I can't think of anything I dislike, other than the noise, but if you go early enough this too shouldn't be a problem
