I've used Indulgences a few different times for manicures and pedicures. My first experience there was a mani/pedi and it went pretty well. Nothing spectacular, nothing went wrong. My next experience was just a mani, and the manicure room is also the back door and evidently, the place for employees to clock in and check their schedules and such. I was annoyed by the people constantly coming and going. Not exactly relaxing when someone's barging in every 10 minutes. My last experience there was a hot stone pedicure, and the pedicurist kept complaining about how hot the stones were on her hands, which is just awkward, because there's nothing I can do about it, except feel guilty for scalding this poor woman. Again, not exactly relaxing. I don't think I'll be going back.
I regularly support Highland businesses along 32nd and on Tennyson St. However, after 3 visits to Indulgences for massage, I won't be returning. My first visit a few years ago was w/a masseuse (black woman) who was strong, capable and very experienced in massage. The last two massages I've had in this past year were pathetic to say the least. I specifically asked for someone w/experience and who was 'excellent.' Both times I was told the masseuses were 'wonderful', but alas they were not. Have probably had over 100 massages in my lifetime, and these were among the worst, unfortuntately. Perhaps w/more training and practice, not to mention honest feedback, will these masseuses improve. There's always room for improvement, but at $65 per hour, I can't afford to be 'practiced' on.
I have made a 2nd appointment and will make a 3rd and 4th. The spa was very clean and the service was perfection. I use to manage a spa in Denver. I would rate this spa one of the best spa's in the Denver area for waxing. Thus far, this is the only service I have received. More reviews to come....
I have given the Spa time after time to many chances, Now I'm way done. The owner, needs to get some serious help, and than maybe try some mangement classes, not sure that would help. I had this wonderferul older woman doing my facials wow she was amazing, now she is gone. Your massage therapist are so horrible that I hurt for days after my massage, how do you send customers home feeling bad?? Front desk, Hooray for Justine, but the rest need some real guidances, and manners. I will never tell anyone about this Spa, and hopefully the owner will get the help she so needs.
Cons: NO PARKING
I've been a loyal Indulgences customer for about a year and a half now, and I feel I must post a rebuttal so some of the slander that's been written here. Slander which, interestingly enough, always seems to coincide with employee turnover, though I don't know if those that are no longer there left of their own accord. While there is a fair amount of turnover, that's the type of person this industry typically attracts. And for every employee that leaves, there are several more who've been there for years, some since the spa's been open. I've been able to see the same massage therapist, esthetician, and nail tech since I've started coming, and if I'm with a new practitioner, I can tell they've spoken to my "regular" to see the type of service I prefer. And the services are always up to my level, and I've been impressed with the way employees react to problematic situations, which, let's be honest, occur at EVERY type of business! The desk might be a bit immature (their receptionists are young, and mostly still in school), but they're very eager to work with clients to get them what they need. Recently I've been greeted by name, which makes it that much more home-y. My recommendation to people looking for a spa that's affordable and a great bargain for the money would be to try it out and make your own decision. Don't trust negative reviews that almost all seem to mention, by name, employees who are no longer at the spa. You'll leave relaxed, comfortable, and satisfied with the experience.
Pros: the friendly, unassuming atmosphere
Cons: parking can be tough in this neighborhood
I chose Indulgences Day Spa because I live in the area and what a treat! It was one of the best massages I have had, Aerin (Erin) was thorough and made sure I was comfortable at all times. I look forward to my next visit and will recommend it to all my friends!!!
I was recently in for a massage and pedicure. The massage was one of the best I've in a long time, and the pedicure lady was friendly and informative. Best of all, the only retail recommendations I recieved were things the therapists truly thought I could use. I also enjoyed my time in the waiting room. The desk staff is clearly knowledgable about everything at Indulgences, and gave us great recommendations for dinner. I'm telling all my friends to go, and I'll definitely be back!
I had a nice day, 4 weeks ago. At Indulgence Day Spa, very nice and clean, the front desk needs some help with there attitudes, but I had the most amazing facial, by a older woman who was so refreshing to be with, the massage was good not great. I had a pedicure, and the girls was very friendly, but as were sitting there just relaxing, I can hear the girl up front on the phone, with must have been a boyfriend talk, talk about everything under the sun, the owner must have came in and she has the loudest mouth ever, not sure I will come back to a place with a owner, and front desk people like that. Sorry Indulgence you just got the thumbs down award.
Pros: great location
Cons: parking is bad
This is a great day spa! I have been going here for facials for just over 2 years now. My esthetician, Karyn, is wonderful. She is experienced and well-versed. Karyn always makes sure that I have a most relaxing and enjoyable facial. I am so pleased with how my skin looks. The front desk staff, especially Emily, are pleasant and knowledgeable. I always enjoy coming here - the location is charming.
I recently went to Indulgences and had an awesome facial with Danie, she was very gently and understanding to my needs and when I was finished she directed me come back and I most definantly will. I look forward to visiting as often as possible (budget allowing)
Pros: Friendly environment
Cons: parking is a little tight
I have been going to Indulgences for quite a while and have found them to be lacking recently. The staff turnover is sad. They used to have a wonderful front desk woman who knew your name and worked hard to get you the time you needed. Now the girls at the desk are more interested in looking perky than in helping the clients. Karyn is the BEST facialist in the city. She is fun to spend time with and very knowledgable. I will continue to go there for her.
Cons: Parking if you come late in the evening
I am a repeat customer at Indulgences and there is a very good reason for that, they provide excellent customer service. I have had several of their services including massage, facials, and manicure and pedicures. Every service I have had has been done with the utmost attention to your comfort and relaxation. I would love to be able to go every week if I could afford it!
Pros: Great services and staff, lovely atmosphere
Cons: Parking is a bear!!!!
I have recently moved to Denver and was taking advantage of the nice weather to work on my yard, unfortunatley I overdid it and desperately needed a massage. I found Indulgences on citysearch and decided to give them a try. I have had massage work done before, but not here in colorado.
I was very pleasantly surpised. In the past when I have gone to get massage work done the therapist has asked what my problem was and then proceeded to do whatever they felt like doing, imagine my surprise when I told my therapist where I hurt and she actually started working on that area. Its nice to know that people do listen to what you say. In the past when I have received a full body massage the places I have been to have me in and out in one hour, so it was very nice to actually receive a full 60 minutes of massage.
I also know that in the past when I have really wrenched my back it takes several visits to work out the kinks. I have been back to Indulgences since but what I found very refreshing is that when the therapists recommended that I come back, they did not insist that I see only them, they actually gave me the names of other therapists whose work would be good for me so I could come when it was conveniant for me. That was a marked difference from the "Oh come back and see me I work on these days" that I have heard in every other place I have gone to.Its nice to find a place that actually cares about the customer
Pros: Great Value
Cons: parking was a little difficult but I am finding that everywhere
Yesterday I was just indulged in a 1 ? hour massage and a spa pedicure. I suffer with chronic neck pain from a car accident 7 years ago and am dependant upon deep tissue massages to manage the pain. I had an excellent massage with a very knowledgeable therapist. After my massage the therapist gave me some stretches to help problem areas and gave me some relaxation techniques. Today I feel great! I will definitely return for another massage. The pedicure was awesome too! Very clean, professional Day Spa! Thank you for the great services.
So i had been to indulgences a few times before for massages and nails, and i got to really liking certain therapists. However, it seems like once i found a massage therapist i felt comfortable with, they stop working there. Every time i go in, they have new staff and i end up having to try new people until i find one i like again, only to be told that they are no longer there anymore. It's just very frustrating. The service isn't good enough to keep me coming back again and again just to try another new hire. How can they expect to keep their customers if they can't even keep their own workers??? Something obviously must be wrong with this place...
Pros: nice therapists
Cons: spa can't keep their workers, front desk not friendly, rooms are hilariously tacky.
Very unprofessional business. Front desk seems immature and not friendly. When I walked in, I wasn't greeted. Afterwards the receptionist had the nerves to talk on the phone about her personal life without checking me in. Another client walked in and she checked her in before me. Then to wrap it all up, my appointment which I booked in advance a month ago wasn't in the database!!! I work in customer service and I know how all this all works. And to top it all of, the receptionist gave me an attitude. Employees knew I was friends with a previous receptionist and ERASED MY APPOINTMENT because of a previous conflict I had nothing to do with. UNFAIR BUSINESS PRACTICE. So far the aesthiticians are nice but owners and receptionist are horrible.
Pros: Nice aesthiticians
Cons: take things out on other people, VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND IMMATURE
I just moved to Denver from Texas a few months ago where I had the same waxer for about five years. I tried a few other spas before indulgenes and what a mistake that was. When I first walked into this cute, ecletic little spa I was very nervous. The last two waxes were awful! The lady came up, introduced herself and led me out the door to another building. Once we "got comfortable" for the waxing service she set me totally at ease with her calm and friendly manner. Not only did she fix my brow mess but it was the best and the fastest bikini wax I have ever had. She was so nice but also funny. I am not so home sick now that I have found Indulgences and Karyn Thank you
I was in Denver in August and wanted , no rather needed a pedicure. I went to Indulgences on West 32nd and had a delightful experience. The pedicure I received was awsome! My technician was attentive and meticulous. She gave me a fantastic foot massage. The color application was perfect and many people commented on it when I returned to Philadelphia. I would not call this a pedicure...I would call it a foot pampering experience. The room was also serene and and calming. I did not want to leave and will return the next time I am in town.
My sister gave me a gift certificate to Indulgences for my birthday and I can't thank her enough. The atmosphere was casual and relaxed, everyone was friendly and attentive and the services, (a massage, a facial and a pedicure) were out of this world! For my sisters birthday, I'm planning to send her to Indulgences; but I'm coming with her, so we can both enjoy the experience.
Pros: Great service, friendly staff, comfortable vibe
Cons: parking is a little tight
My husband and I came into denver to take care of some family business. needless to say we were both very stressed out. We found Indulgences driving by and stopped to ask about services. Bevin was very helpful in setting us up for a couples massage. My husband and I agreed that it was the best massage we have ever had, and we have been to quite a few spas. It helped us both in reducing our stress. I also liked the cozy room we were in, it felt very comforting. which is what we both needed.
Thank you for accomodating two out of towners in need.
For mothers day I didn"t know what to get my wife. She mentioned she wanted some pampering so I went on line to check out spas. I went to indulgences and they were very helpful in selecting a package for my wife. I got her a massage a facial and a pedicure. She went last week and when she came home she told me it was wonderful. Thanks a lot. this makes gift giving so much easier.
Pros: Helpful staff
Cons: I'm jealous I want to go now
My spa experience at Indulgences was anything but indulgent!
For my boyfriend's birthday, I planned a couples hot rock massage. He loves hot rock massages, most of the time. I made sure to pay when I called so that he would not see the price. They assured me that was fine. Things started out fine, but then the massage was just average (it was my first hot rock, but my boyfriend had had many and thought they were definitely amatures.) When they said we were done, the massage therapists told us to get dressed and meet them outside. When we got up, we realized that we were COVERED in oil- and were given no towels. We both used the small piece of fabric they used to cover me up to try to get some of the oil off of us so we wouldn't ruin our clothing. My hair was drenched in oil for about the bottom 2 inches, so we were unable to meet friends afterward as planned. In addition, when we went to check out, the receptionist told me what I owed, and plopped the bill down right in front of my boyfriend! I told her I had already paid, and she said something like, "Oh, you're right. It's taken care of." I thought I was clear on the phone that I didn't want him to see the price!
After leaving the spa, I was very stressed and upset, not relaxed and happy. I called a couple of days later, and talked to someone who appologized profusely, and told me the receptionist would not be coming back. (I told him I wasn't aiming for anyone to be fired, just talked to about professionalism.) He assured me that the owner would be calling me in the next couple of days. Well, that was the 5th of May, and it's now the 13th, so I decided to write this review.
Indulgences would be the last place I'd choose to go in Denver. The couples hot stone massage is anything BUT relaxing.
Pros: The room was nice.
Cons: Everything else.
I went for a one hour massage at Indulgences Day Spa last week, and it was so great I made another appointment for an hour and a half. The first thing my massage therapist did was ask me what kind of pressure I liked, and if there was anything I wanted specific attention paid to. I told her my shoulders get like rocks from riding my motorcycle, and she said she could focus on that. I know she told me about a specific technique she thought would help, but pretty soon I was so relaxed I don't remember what that was, I just know it worked. I couldn't believe how much better I felt after the one hour. The hour and a half massage I just got was even better. She even gave me some information on stretching to take home so that I don't have to work myself into knots so much between massages. I'll definitely be coming back, and getting my wife a gift certificate for one of their spa packages.
Pros: skilled therapists, friendly staff
Recently moving to the highlands, I decided to try a half- hour massage at Indulgences to see if I liked the therapists technique. In my relaxed state, I didn't realize I was being given an hour massage until I went downstairs to pay. After some whispering amongst the desk staff, one of them returned to the counter, I assume, after speaking to the therapist, and informed me that I was being charged for an hour. I reiterated that I only requested a half hour massage and the desk clerk responded "I know. Sorry." This is unacceptable and the massage was nothing special either. I'd rather drive to Cherry Creek during rush hour.
I so enjoyed my first visit to Indulgences that I have not only returned on several occasions, but have given gift certificates to many friends! I am from Chicago and fly into Denver often. I have been to many spas but Indulgences is absolutely my favorite. I enjoy the atmosphere created by the Victorian home and the theme carried througout. Very relaxing and personal. Not the antisptic feeling of other spas. They manage to balance cleanliness with warmth for a feeling of home. In addition, I like the personal attention I receive from the staff. I am treated as a person with specific needs as opposed to a client in a block of time. I love it!!!
Pros: Atmosphere, Cleanliness and the "Down to Earth Staff"
Cons: That I have to leave when my massage is over!
I love the service I get when I come in (often!) for facials and waxing - unfortunately, the more often I go, the more often I notice the decline in the unkeep of the rooms! Dingy and permanently dusty dried (dead!) flowers, mishanged shelves, lack of any true character and/or thought. I keep coming back because the wonderful woman who treats me, but sometimes its a struggle! It's getting gross, time to invest some TLC into the rooms!
Pros: Individual Service, Friendly Staff, Affordable
Cons: Atmosphere needs TLC, Grimey, Not Relaxing
GREAT PLACE FOR A COUPLES MASSAGE! THE STAFF IS FRIENDLY AND VERY PROFESSIONAL.
CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN FOR ANOTHER MASSAGE!
My wife and I went to Indulgences to celebrate our anniversary. The couples massage we received was perfect. In fact, it was so good that she and I now make it a point to get a massage here every other week. Everyone we have seen here has been great and the staff has always been extremely helpful and courteous. I would highly recommend it.
Pros: Great spa and great neighborhood
My wife and I go to this spa when we need a break from the craziness everyday life. The couples massage is our favorite. Very relaxing in a romantic setting. Each massage therapist that we've received massages from is competent and professional. - ml
Pros: Atmosphere, service
This spa is located on 32nd Street in the Highlands and is a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours. The massages are relaxing and soothing. Their hair removal services are practically painless. It's amazing. Everyone is kind and gentle and wants you to leave feeling pampered and happy. None of the pretentiousness you get at other spas. They do a great job.
Pros: Skilled, Relaxing, Reasonably Priced
This charming spa is the perfect place to indulge. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff is delightful and competent. I particularly recommend waxing services and massage.
Pros: inexpensive, quiet, quaint
This spa is the best. Not only does it have alot of old victorian charm and character, but the rooms are all decorated in themes and SO creative . The atmosphere is so relaxing. I got tired of feeling that I had to "dress up" to go to the spa. This place is so down to earth, relaxing and charming, and SO clean!! The staff is so friendly and knowlegable. You actually leave feeling like you have made a new friend. They have a wide array of services from power prescriptive facials to Warm stone pedicures and the couples massage is to die for. If you like to frequent the spa theis one is a must see!!!!
Pros: Price, Staff, Services
Indulgences Day Spa provided me with three wonderful services for a very special weekend. I got a beautiful french manicure and while receiving a fabulous pedicure, I mentioned that I was attending a large family wedding and my feet would receive a good workout on the dance floor that evening. The tech suggested that I return the next day for their "Treat Your Feet" service, which entailed a long soak in a pedicure spa, followed by a foot and calf massage. I made the apppointment, and it was the perfect cure for my aching feet! How great to know that after a long day of shopping or running after my grandkids I can go for a half hour of pure pleasure!
Pros: service, price , ambiance
I have been to Indulgences several times and have always had a good experience, no matter which practitioner I have seen. The staff is friendly and knowledgeble and they take the time to find out what it is you are looking for from your treatment. The facility is adorable and while mistakes sometimes happen, the people at Indulgences always seem to be willing to make things right and listen to their customers. I would highly recommend Indulgences to anyone.
Pros: reasonable prices, good staff, great enviroment
Nice owner and staff, but their lack of experience truly shows in their organization of appointments and in the quality of the treatments provided. Quality techs have left the spa, and have been replaced less competent ones.
Pros: price, warmth
Cons: people, service
This is a quaint and cozy day spa with friendly and experienced staff. Plus the hours are GREAT! Caren gives the absolute BEST eyebrow waxes and shaping. It is located in the Highland's square area where you can spend an afternoon shopping, lunch, and spa-ing it with friends. Highly recommended!
I have been to Indulgences several time and have always had a great experience. The entire staff is so friendly - not snotty at all - and all the people working there are so knowledgable and I've had only wonderful services. I love the atmosphere - it's not cold and sterile like so many places. I also started using their line Bioelements which has done wonders for my skin. I highly recommend this place!!
Pros: Friendly, Great Serivce, Adorable Atmosphere
The couples massage is wonderful! My husband and I had one and were pleasantly surprised. The candlelit room with the soothing music and the fire were very romantic. What a great massage too! We would highly recommend it!
If you are looking for a good wax, this is definitely the place to go. They don't use the normal wax that almost rips your skin off, its almost putty like and they peel it instead of using the cloths and ripping. I would definitley recommend it.
Pros: Cute atmosphere, Very nice employees
Spa was noisy, cold, and some staff members seemed there for the sake of having a job! Although I went in the evening, they seemed more concerned about arriving furniture, who gets a break, and what room was clean and available!
Pros: Esthetically pleasing, reasonable
Cons: noisy, cold
