A colorful mountain bar located in the Sphinx Park area east of Pine, the Bucksnort is a popular stop for mountain bikers, mountain drivers, bikers, hikers etc. You have to know where you are going as it is way out of the way. The road to it is a narrow winding gravel lane. The building is built on a rockpile overlooking a creek. The food standard bar food - burger, mexican, sandwiches, appetizers and is well made. There are a coupe of microbeers on tap and more in the bottle. It is an eclectic crowd here and very friendly. It is a must do place

This is a very cool place to take family and friends! In business for over a century, the food is good, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights the live music is free and pretty good. Plus, smoker friendly back deck overlooking gorgeous Elk Creek. Serves alchohol, though only wine and beer. Dont come here to get polluted, the roads are very rustic and wildlife abounds.

This is the place I always have to take visitors who want some local color. The Buck Snort has been in business for a hundred years, and in some way it looks like it. Essentially a biker bar tucked back in the woods, the Buck Snort is still family friendly. While you're waiting for your burger (service can be slow) check out all the signs/carvings/license plates adhered to the walls. The burgers are big! I can never finish one. The drive there is really pretty too.

My cousin Willie Schutter used to own the place. Glad to hear that 30 years down the road, the place is still a locals bar and still a great place to hang out!

Visit date: January 2nd, 2010 about 9pm.

We asked the locals where we could find a FUN bar that was open past 10pm; The Bucksnort Saloon was highly recommended to us. We piled into a small car and headed up (elevation about 6,500 ft) the SUPER windy and narrow gravel roads from Conifer, CO. We arrived about 30-40mins later.

It is a rustic, historically old, extremely casual, local mountain bar with a TON of character! There's signed dollar bills hanging from the ceilings, writings on the walls, in the bathrooms, neat and fun signs hanging up all over the walls and ceilings.

They serve beer and wine only! Credit cards are accepted but cash is preferred.

They had a good local band playing that we all enjoyed. We should have arrived a couple hours earlier to play pool and eat some famous burgers. We did eat the beef quesadillas and gigantic plate of nachos which were DELICIOUS!

Prices: Loaded Nachos and large Quesadillas were $8 and beer was about average price ($3.50 for Bud/Light, Coors/Light. $4.00 for Heineken, Corona, Sam Adams).

*** It was probably one of the BEST times we've all had in a bar and we WILL be going back soon! The staff and locals are very friendly to us [tourists]!!! WE LOVED IT! 10 STARS! ****

IF you're looking for something off the beaten path and completely different, check this place out!

"This real mountain bar, with its graffiti-covered, rough-sawn walls, logs-on-end bar stools and cable-reel tables, is famous for its good food, drink, friendly saloon keepers and fun-loving customers." ~ http://www.thebucksnortsaloon.com/about-us.html
