Dr. Ashbrook is absolutely wonderful with my girls. I have 3 dogs and 1 cat. I lived in Glade Park and she would make the long trek up the mountain to come see me and my girls. She was patient, kind and caring with them and explained everything she was doing and why. Yes, she is a little bit more price-wise than the traditional office veterinarian, but I received so much more from her. I have since moved out of the area (3 hours away) but once a year I drive to Grand Junction to meet her and have her give my girls their check ups!
What a great cat/dog vet. My cat was dying and had been to 3 other vets who could only put her on steroids to prolong her life. They had no idea what was wrong. I asked them to check her teeth and they said they were fine. She couldn't breathe through her nose , hung her mouth open and drooled and wouldn't eat. Aspentree (Dr.Ashbrook) who was once an dental assistant took one look in her mouth and said, "Well, there's the problem!" We knocked her out, started a teeth cleaning and discovered a huge wound in the roof of her mouth. Dr. Ashbrook suspected a spider bite (brown recluse). It had eaten away a huge portion of tissue in the roof of the cat's mouth which was all infected and gross. Too much longer and it might have eaten away into her brain. Ashbrook cleaned everything out, removed dead tissue, packed it with antibiotic packing, stitched it all up, cleaned the rest of her teeth. By the next day the near dead cat was far far better. She has improved and never looked back. Ashbrook leans toward serious teeth cleaning and has educated me on how much bad teeth can impact overall pet health. It has made a HUGE difference in how well she cleans their teeth compared to other vets. Love animals? you bet. This is a "home visit" only vet. When our pups were neutered, she took them overnight. They slept in her bedroom with her. When she comes to give shots or clean teeth, the dogs all crowd in her exam van, all excited to see her. "Do me next!" they seem to say. I have never had pets happy to see the vet until Aspen Tree. Costs a little more but they are happy.
