Very Good Pizza, I tried to get Italian and modern Americana Style pizzas. Both were incredibly enjoyable.

The price matches the serving.

Good quality service, Good food, Good meat, Good God let's eat!

Love the Pizza here! Its a bit of a wait sometimes, but its nice to have fresh made food instead of greasy pizza hut or dominos.

I go to Johnny's all the time. It is great! Call in your order, though, sometimes it can take a while. The staff is pleasant enough, and the food is excellent. It's the only place in the area I can find a decent lunch, and the daily

This place has absolutely the WORST customer service. I ordered a delivery to my address which is 3 blocks away from Johnny's in Lakewood, CO, and the driver took 30 minutes after he called me to try and find my location. I live in the largest apartment complex in Belmar and stood in the street to no avail. He got lost and went back to the restaurant as he got frustrated. I then had to call the general manager and he was even worse than the driver. He was extraordinarily rude to me, and I was visibly upset as it was now over an hour and a half later and still NO PIZZA. He than said I was rude and hung up on me. I called back and asked for John (the owner) and he refused to pass the info on. The pizza is average at best, but the customer service is even worse. The worst place to get pizza in the greater Denver area.

The last 2 reviews are spot on! I went to Johnnys on Mississippi last week and I know exactly who the reviewer was talking about. I stood at the counter for a few minutes waiting for service while the waitress was very busy and a very dirty and miserable looking person who I'm guessing was the manger mspencer was talking about made salads and didn't even glance my way to greet me. I've never seen anyone who looked so miserable but I guess that's understandable because if I was his age and still working in a pizzaria I'd probably hang myself. Next time I was craving pizza I decided to check out the location at 26th and Kipling. WHAT A DUMP! I ordered 2 slices to go and waited while the morons that were "working" texted on there phones. After 5 minutes I had my sub par slices and will never go back. Get rid of the manager at the store on Mississipi Johnny and we'll start coming back!

Pros: Things used to be great. Prices are very reasonable.

Cons: The new manager and the food and employees in north lakewood

Checked out the Johnnys location at 26th and Kipling, and was really hoping for a good slice of pie. Was greeted by 4 very loud teens who were too busy playing grabass to take an order, and when the young man with sweat shorts with his butt hanging out came over, he was clueless. Said the pizza would take 15 minutes and 45 minutes later a half cooked pie came to our table. My 9 year old enjoyed his two separate slices of pizza, but my pizza was not so great. Price was to expensive, 27 bucks for a medium pizza, 2 slices of pizza, and 3 cans of soda, and atrocious service. I dont think I will go back and I would advise you to make your own judgment on this establishment and just go in hoping for the worse and these guys will meet your expectations.

Pros: Good size Pizzas and variety

Cons: Dirty, immature staff, expensive, not a lot of flavor

Johnny's used to be one of my favorite places in Lakewood. Things have changed so much since Johnny hasn't been around. They have a new manager and I think his name is Phil and he absolutely ruins the whole experience. He has a terrible attitude, is extremely rude to the customers and employees and always looks filthy and disgusting. I'm not sure if he only has one shirt but it looks like it's never been washed. It's a real shame that things had to happen this way. Come back Johnny or at least get a new manager who actually enjoys their job and makes us feel welcome instead of like we are an inconvenience to him.

I usually don't write reviews, I usually read them. After reading the reviews of Johnnys, I feel compelled to write my honest opinion.
I love this place. The food, the staff, the atmosphere- they are all great! I find myself craving his pizza at least once a week.
I have yet to find anyone more genuine than the owner. His New York attitude and his simple generosity have helped more than one charity in the Lakewood area.
After all these reviews, all I can say is that it is not only a great pizza find but a community gem.

I enjoyed the take out I had on a Monday. There were plenty of toppings and cheese on the pizza. I was reading some of the other reviews. I can not tell, but it looks like someone really is upset at Johnny. He makes good food, and in the past I've enjoyed our taks about NY. I had never had a bad lunch, or dinner.

I went on a Friday night on a recommendation from this site. I had some concerns, because of the negative reviews. But I saw some good ones too. I then ordered large cheese pizza with knots. When I brought it home we were presently surprised. The pizza and knots were good. There was a perfect blend of the crisp crust, good tasting tomato sauce, plenty of cheese and not too much garlic (on the knots). Give it a try. I enjoyed it.

I always drive by and decided to stop in for a slice. To be honest, I was hoping it would be better. The slices they sell are not like what I remember in New York. The place is not much to look at and it was pretty empty. It wasn't the worst pizza I have had probably somewhere between Dominos and Pizza Hut. Oh well, I'll just keep looking.

When I introduced my friends to Johnny's, they all agreed that this was the best pizza. And the perk? They have reaaly good italian food also. I go here once, or twice a week. I get two slices of sausage, knots and a soda. The food and service are ALWAYS great. It?s a little small, but enjoyable. I read some of the other reviews. Why so much hate for joint? I have been to the over-hyped place down the street. It was ok, but I prefer John?s. He always nice and doesn?t rush the CUSTOMERS out to fill a booth.

I couldn't get to Johnny's for the first pizza giveaway, so a group of us headed there for lunch one Saturday afternoon. The place was clean, the pizza was fresh and tasty, and the service was excellent. I love being able to order pizza by the slice. We each ordered our slices with whatever toppings we wanted, plus a salad, and got plenty of food for the money.

We made it to the Wheat Ridge store for the second pizza giveaway, and despite the huge crowds lining up in front of the building, got fresh, hot pizza with just a few minute's wait.

I think the owner is a great community leader to give away food twice, let alone twice in one year. As a business owner, I wish I could come up with a stunt that worked as great as his.

I'm wondering if the bad reviews are all the same guy, using a different usernam each time. He's probably a competitor who can't compete on a level playing field. If he REALLY saw someone pick up food and put it on a pizza, he should have called the health inspector. The only reason he didn't is because what he posted here isn't true.

I recently ate at Johnnys. Ordered pizza and a calzone. Pizza was NOTHING like Ny style pizza. It was dry and tasteless. Calzone was not cooked all the way and was not even close to good. The place is dismal looking and not clean and not (really) dirty.
The worst part of the experience happened at the end. As I walked up to the counter I witnessed a cook drop food on the floor and then PICK IT UP AND PUT IT ON A PIZZA!! I was horrified!! Needless to say i won't be going back.
Good reviews of this place must be made by family and friends of the owners.

I was amazed to read the review of spark6431. He complains that the food is horrible, but yet he admits he was willing to stand in line for nearly 30 minutes to get some. He also mentioned that he lives very close to Johnny's Lakewood store; then he complains he wasted his gas to drive the few blocks on the day of the 1st pizza giveaway.

John Keiley is a first class guy (and a fellow New Yorker). He could have cut corners with his giveaway, but he didn't. He served free pizza all day. He and his staff had to cut the line off somewhere. A previous post mentioned that they continued serving free pizza until 8:15 pm. John brought in a mobile pizza trailer to keep the wait times to a minimum. They maintained an amazing pace throughout the day to keep up with the demand. They even provided entertainment for the people who were waiting.

Isn't it amazing that spark6431 hates everything on the menu, but he wanted to waste his gas (for the few blocks he had to drive) to get some horrible free pizza? If I don't like the food served at a restaurant, I won't waste my time going there...even if they're giving the food away. It seems that spark6431 may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer.

It is unfortunate that someone may have told spark6431 (on the phone) that the giveaway was still going on. Of course, it was pretty nutty down there on that particular evening. I'm amazed that anybody even answered the phone; I wouldn't have under the circumstances. But I'm not sure that anybody really told spark6431 that he could still get in line for pizza. In light of the contradictions in his story, I'm not sure that I believe he really called before making the drive to the restaurant. Even so, the event was a first-come-first-served promotion. You'd have to be an idiot to think that anyone would promise to hold a free pizza for some guy who called in just 30 minutes before the event was over.

I love Johnny's food. Since spark6431 isn't going back, that leaves more for me!

They burnt my first pizza. The second one camne out and i took it home. Thats a good time to get this pizza. Paying for this is just not worth it.

My family has gone to this place since it opened. They are always so nice and the food is . . . divine. I lived in NYC for a few years, and this is what NY pizza is. I even had this pizza on my birthday in December; my sister, who lives in Evergreen, always gets some when she is in our neck of the woods. My only complaint? Wish they had a website!!!!

Is free speech great, or what...?!

Read the reviews, and we're all entitled to an opinion. Here's mine.

I've eaten "NY" pizza from NY to California, and this takes everyone of them outside NY!
Not only am I from NY, (Newburgh area), but I love pizza! I search everywhere I go, try them all, and know for my taste who's got it, and who ain't.

The crust is perfect, thin and crispy, yet nice and chewy like it's supposed to be.
Not enough cheese? For the thickness of the pizza, the amount of cheese is dead on!
Yes, it's greasy, but never met a real old style, NY pizza that wasn't, so take a fistful of napkins. fold your slice in half, and enjoy!

I would HIGHLY recommend this to any New Yorker looking for that pizza that reminds them of home!

Today was the first time I tried the Garlic Knots... Good choice! They have a nice garlic taste, are warm and crunchy, but soft in the middle. They are excellent with their marinara sauce!

Other than great NY pizza, this place has a warm, homey feel to it. Johnny (the owner) is a real NY'er, no wannabe imitator. His attitude is excellent, and he takes care of his customers, as does his staff!

Space is tight around lunch and dinner time, but not impossible. Hey! It's bigger than most of the NY pizzeria's I've seen in New York!

Hint: If you're going for lunch, shift your lunch time to 11:10, or so. No crowds, food's just as good!

P.S. Anybody who thinks ANY, and I mean ANY, chain store pizza is better than this....
I can only quote from the movie "Scrooged", and The Ghost of Christmas Past....
"Go back to 'Jersey, you moron!"

in response to your pathedic review..........
here are a few facts......the last pizza given away at 8:15 pm. the line was cut off at 7:15 to allow for a 1 hour wait. We had 19 people not ROBOTS working non stop for 12 hours staight many who donated thier time and resourses to make this happen. For you to even think let alone take the time to write such a terrible thing ......there are no words except selfish and believe me I'm being nice. please respond back and let me know the last time you did something nice for your fellow human being. In the mean time the only thing I can do for you is to pray that you get better. J.K.

Being new to the area, I used to buy Johnny's pizza fairly regularly. However, the owner recently did a free pizza day since the Rockies swept the Yankees. On the nightly news he said it would last until 8pm. So I call around 7:30pm and make sure it is still going on and the girl on the phone confirmed. So I drove there which took me about 2 minutes since I live so close. When I get there I go to the end of the line where this goon, apparently the owner, says the promotion is no longer going and the line is cut off. I explained to him that I just talked to a girl on the phone who said it was still on but he did not care.

He just said, "Well, you were told wrong. The line is cut off." I just wasted my time and gas to go there because one of his employees confirmed the deal and then he turns me away. Also, I got there a half hour before the scheduled end of the promotion. Due to this I will never give them my money again.

Having tried many things from their menu I will also rate their food. First, the pizza. The crust is rubbery, there's hardly any sauce and it is significantly more greasy than every other pizza I've had. Their calzones have thin dough that just cracks in the oven and they are very skimpy with the ingredients. They should call it an "air-zone" since it is mostly filled with air. The Ravioli is just plain. The sauce lacks any real flavor and the pasta is chewy.

If you want a quality delivery pizza go with Blackjack. If you want a calzone go to Old Chicago. You will get a much better value for your money, and you'll be treated like a customer should.

After reading everyone's reviews we decided to try the pizza & post one of our own. We're from the East coast where you can find several authentic NY pizzerias up and down the coast line no matter what state you're in.
We ordered an Extra Cheese, Sausage & Pepperoni and a Pepperoni pizza and also a calzone for $42.
The pizza was ok, but not authentic. It could use more sauce.
The cheese pizza wasn't Extra cheese.
The calzone was too small, it should be stuffed with lots more for $6!!!
Not too bad...I'll eat there again, however next time I won't order a calzone and I'll ask for a lil' more sauce. The guys were nice and the restaraunt was clean. Good atmosphere.

I went there with the expectation this place should have a good pie. It had been awhile, since easting at Johnny?s. I happily entered this small Lakewood restaurant and brought my appetite. Sadly I was disappointed. The quality of the cheese did not taste like I had recalled. It was rubbery and there was hardly any on the slice. The ground sausage was sub-par and luke warm. I remember walking into Johnny?s for the first time. It was great; however, I feel the quality has gone down hill. It?s too bad. The staff there is always friendly.

Pros: Johnny

Cons: Not a great slice

I went in after lunch, the slices looked old so I ordered a small pie. The crust was not crisy and it lacked cheese. I ate the whole thing, don't thing I will be back.

I love their pizza. I have been going there for a couple years now and there is no change in their pizza. Nice thin crust cooked perfectly, great sauce and plenty of cheese. Everyone I have brought to Johnny's loves it and goes back for more. Try the garlic knots, but beware, because they are addictive! Good services both for pick up and eat in. Everyone is very pleasant even when the phone is ringing off the hook. They stand by their product and service. Pleasant neighborhood place.

I try pizza everywhere. Maybe just a bad day for them. I went in for a slice and they looked old and dryed up. I orderd a slice anyways. I asked how old the slices where, just 20 minutes I was told? I hope the owner reads this, maybe your pizza is better then what i had. Don't serve old dryed up slices because I will not be back.
