I both attended there as a student and worked there for over 20 years. Before the UNC decided to get rid of there state workers and replace them with contract labor from a local temp service it was a wonderful place to work there. When I finally decided to take advantage of their discounted tuition fees for employees was the year they decided to start replacing the state workers with temp or our-sourced workers or what we called 600 hour workers. They basically worked 600 hours then they were laid off. Some were re-hired 90/120 days later. The work place was not the same ever since. I was a student there for 2 years then I transferred to CSU. Wow what a difference. The quality of education was different and the professors were academically qualified but had relevant work experience in the field of study. So I would only consider UNC if you can't afford a better school or save your money until you can attend a real University. My Study is CIS/CS in the school of business and science.

From a co-worker, yes that is right I work at unc for 2 years now. and the experience that i have had here is UN fit for anyone. I talk with the students everyday and they cant wait till the semester is done with because they want to leave so bad. Which is not a bad idea. The university center higher staff is inconsiderate to their students and some have a bad attitude. If u had a choice to go to another school i advise u take it. I have not only had a bad experience at the university center i have had one at many other buildings. But the worse experience was at the university center one of the staff members was rude jumped to conclusions. I also seen this staff member be disrespect his own co-workers. He is one of the highest supervisors there is and he acting like this. If u are going to go to unc stay away from the university center.

I attended UNC for a while and I had a rather good experience overall. The instructors are knowledgeable and their theatre, music and art programs are all quite good. There is a fairly healthy and involved student body with many opportunities to get involved if you're willing to put yourself out there. The other reviewer believes it's too conservative. I've personally heard it called too liberal. I think it really is what you make it. With such a large and diverse student population, there are bound to be voices in the community you won't agree with, but turn a corner and you'll find others of like mind. That's the University experience as near as I can tell.

This University is very conservative in it's views, and isn't good for an expanded, diverse learning experience. There are some acceptions, but in general, they are behind the times. It is known for accepting anyone into it's programs, but no one really stays. They began as a school for education, but their focus is now changing towards business. My experience here, with most of the teachers and students, was unsatisfactory.
