I have been a big fan of the Thai Eggplant for a decade now. It's so good it should be illegal. The chairs and tables are a bit uncomfortable, but the food is always worth it. Go in warm weather and sit on their patio!

I really like this restaurant. It is a nicely decorated cozy restaurant , and reasonably priced. The first time I went, I had a dish I really liked (pad se lew with shrimp) and have the same main dish each time I go. Would highly recommend this place.

Thai Basil features curries and pad thai, as well as some fusion dishes. The food is plentiful and tasty, and the curry is served in a clay fire pot, which is always fun. My only quibble is that the wine list could use some improvement. Dishes are not too expensive, and most entrees are under $10.00.

I'm puzzled by these negative reviews. I have only dined at the location at 18th and Humboldt and don't have a single complaint. A $66 dollar tab? Are you sure? My husband and I each had a glass of wine ($3 each--happy hour special), an order (2) of spring rolls in a clear wrap, he ordered the Thai Basil Chicken (a huge portion beautifully presented on a platter) and I had Crispy Duck ('tho served in pieces, it appeared to be the entire duck---I couldn't eat all of it, there was so much). Our tab was not quite $30 plus tip. The restaurant is right across the street from a large hospital complex (St. Joe's/St. Luke's) and hospital employees poured in, many picking up large carry out orders. It is obviously a popular place. We have no complaints whatsoever. The review by Dip 1098 describes our experiences there. The review by Mikayla 123 is totally the opposite of what we know to be true.

Pros: Nice atmosphere, delicious food, good value

Cons: None

Thai Basil is a horrible! They say it is a thai restraunt but is it not! It is all American Chinese food! The Drunken Noodles are all covered and sunk with stinky nasty goo! The service was extremly terrible! They don' ask you if you want to drink anything or if you would like to sit where. All they do when you enter is say nothing so you get your own menu and take a seat. The food took about 3 minutes to get here. I asked for sprite and they gave it to me when we were about to pay and go home. Horrilbe I regret paying 66 dolars eating just 2 Drunken Noodles and 2 orders of Srping Rolls.

DON'T RECOMMENDED THIS RESTRAUNT TO ANYONE!

This is a great date spot. The atmosphere is very soothing and cultural. The food is served uniquely. The service was nice and fast. The food was delicious. I have ordered from them for delivery at least once a week since my initial visit.

Pros: good atmosphere, great food

Cons: parking may be an issue

The food is great, but the service is embarassing. We walked in tonight at 9:55pm, and were informed upon seating that closing time is 10:30, so we better eat quick. At 10pm they started cleaning the floors, stacking chairs, while we were rushed our meal, extended no courtesy whatsoever by the staff, and not even asked if we wanted anything to drink. We were out the door by 10:20pm, so was the staff. Take out from here, don't eat in, you'll have a more enjoyable dining experience at your kitchen table.

My family enjoys take out several nights a week from our area restaurants. Thai Basil is in our top 3 favorites because everything we have eaten from there is amazing. We have not been able to enjoy the restaurant for some time because we are unable to find an on line menue.

Thai Basil, you need to get a menu on line I can read about it all day but if I don't know what you offer how can I try your food

As soon as I walked into Thai Basil, I was impressed. I enjoy a romantic atmosphere and Thai Basil has it! I love the big stuffed chairs, the "canopy bed" style booths, the twinkling candle-lit tables, and the arched ceiling. Eating at Thai Basil truly is a beautiful experience.

I also enjoyed the food. My favorite is the Sesame Beef. Some people have complained about the food being too sweet, but I thought it was wonderful! The vegetables were exceedingly fresh. In fact, when I visited the downtown location, I spied one of their workers preparing fresh snow peas from a big box. I'm not a big vegetable lover, but I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed the zucchini, broccoli, peppers, onions, cauliflower, mushrooms, and baby corn cobs that came with my Sesame Beef.

My only complaint is that it cost more to have fried rice rather than steamed rice with the entres. At the Park Meadows location, I was told that I would have to pay the full 7.95 price to have fried rice with my entre. At the downtown location, it was only 1.00 extra and well worth it. I'm suspicious that the waiter at the Park Meadows location may have been misinformed. Instead, we opted for the brown rice. It was good, but not nearly as flavorful as the fried rice.

I have to say, Thai Basil is now my favorite Asian restaurant and has made it onto my list of "places I can't resist!"

Used to be a huge Thai Basil fan... was craving Thai last night so we drove across town to Thai Bail. What happened to this place??? I have to echo the other reviews in saying that the food has gone down the drain. My Drunken Noodles (which used to be my favorite dish) were drowned in a thick, gooey, sugary sauce. My husband's beef was sitting in the same sweet, sickening goo. They brought our food out very quickly, but I would much rather wait a few more minutes for food that actually looks and tastes fresh! Apparently now that Thai Basil is a chain, they have become the McDonald's of thai food. I will not return.

Cons: Food that used to be great, is now awful

Great furniture, good atmosphere, the service was decent. If you are from the Mid-West (and not Chicago)
and if you have not had Thai food before then the marketing will sway you. The food is WAY too sugary. Truly go down the street to Swing Thai......

Pros: nice place for a Sapphora

I've been there once. The service was great. I got the food within two minutes after ordering. The rapidness was very stunning but the taste of the food was terrible. Every dish that I ordered tasted and looked the same. Vegetables were tough as if the restaurant pre-cooked for a long time before they served it. No wondered why it only took about a few minutes after the waiter rang the order in. Moreover, Thai food that I ordered wasn't Thai at all. By putting the word "Thai" in front of the names of the dishes was the only thing that made the food Thai. It was very ashamed to have the restaurant named "Thai Basil" without recognizing the authenticity of Thai Recipe.

I have been here many times and I have never had a bad meal. The new one that just opened on 38th has fast delivery and it is free. The lunch boxes are also great!

Good lord, the food here is sweet. WAY too much sugar. This probably works fine for the Midwest palate, but if you like real Thai food (here I'm talking Thailand, or Thai restaurants of San Francisco, Seattle, Portland), then you will find this food WAY too sweet (think Swing Thai). The server was kind enough to recommend a "more authentic" (his words) Thai restaurant down near I-225 (too far for me.)

Finding a good Thai place in Denver has been a difficult search, and unfortunately Thai Basil was just about as mediocre as a restaurant can get. The decor is nice and the dinnerware they use is interesting--beautiful clay pots for the curry and big square laquer plates for noodles--however, the food ranges from mediocre to not good at all. Good thai chefs understand subtlety and Thai Basil is far from subtle. Its food is unfailingly oversauced, my Drunken Noodles were drowning in sauce and my friend's gorgeous red snapper filet was a soggy mess of sauce and wilted vegetables. We tried Thai Basil twice, hoping that it would be good since its so close to our home, but both times it disappointed. Swing Thai is a block away--go there. It's not great either, but at least its cheap.

We visited Denver for a week and decided to try out Thai Basil. The restaurant is beautiful ... ask for a booth if there is one open! It is very well decorated. The waiter was very nice and gave great service ... the manager even stopped by to see how things were. We tried the soft shell crab dish that is served on a salad ... it was very good. We also had a green curry with beef ... also very good. I would come back to this restaurant everytime I visit Denver. This is the best Thai restaurant I've ever been too!! (and we're from San Francisco)

This place used to be the sweetest lil' Thai spot in town, with outrageous food, efficient and friendly servers, all at phenomenal prices. Now it's just "Turn 'n Burn" as the managers sneer at anyone expecting a reservation to be honored and the hassled servers scurry away to hide from customers. I actually had a person who apparently was a manager scream and swear at me because after waiting forty-five minutes for an 8 pm reservation, I started asking him when our table would be ready. The food has gone the way of the service, with once fresh, effervescent spring rolls now having become stale and rubbery. The shrimp are dried-out and the curries are watery. Save yourself the aggravation if you absolutely HAVE to try the place, and at least get takeout. Amazingly, they still deliver, which will be their only saving grace after no one will actually suffer the abuse of the staff.

Used to be ok once upon a time but lately the food has turned bad and the service worse. No greeting to start with or whether you want to have anything to drink, no asking how spicy you want the food, the attitude is just get on with your order, get on with your dinner and get the hell out - we've other customers waiting - not that there are too many of them. I've been seeing plenty of empty tables on weekends - at one point there used to be at least a 15 minute waiting. Thai Basil has gone down the drain and we're not going back there - EVER.

I wanted Thai Basil to be amazing. It is so beautiful inside with the green walls and fantastic furniture. I assumed that they put as much in to their food as the decorating, but felt I was wrong. The curries were more coconut than curry flavor. In fact I felt like I was eating straight coconut milk. This left the food bland and well, milky. I do intend to try again to see if the cook had an off night but only because the place is so gorgeous and the staff so friendly.

My colleagues and I are regular customers of Thai Basil. Yesterday, I called in to place an order for delivery. This very rude lady picked up the phone, and started talking really fast. It took her a couple of minutes to take down the right phone number. She sarcastically inquired about the Library the food needed to be delivered to. Following this, she asked for my name. When I spelt it for her, she commented, "What kind of a name is that? It is a funny name." Following this comment, I asked her to hand the phone over to someone who was a little more polite, and she immediately responded with a very harsh "No". I thought she had not understood my request. I repeated it more clearly and she responded again with an even harsher "No". I don't think I will ever call in or visit the restaurant.

I was visiting my friend in Denver and they took me to Thai Basil. I was a little sceptical because I've always been critical about finding good Asian food in Denver. It was Friday night, and we did not make reservation. When we got there, there was a line, and my friend insisted that we should wait. It was worth the wait, I had a great experience, I had the fried wanton, the chicken with basil. They were both excellent. I would go there again.

Coming from Hawaii and having been spoiled by the best Thai in the U.S. (Phuket Thai), I have to say my first foray into Denver Thai was a little disappointing.

Any Thai place that doesn't serve Thai "sticky rice" or "glutenous rice" isn't worth it's weight in phad thai. The same can be said about any place that serves "Crab Rangoon" wontons.

That being said, all of the usual Thai (& bastardized Chinese) items were on the menu. For soup, Thom Kha & Thom Yum were available. No luck on finding any green papaya salad. All of the curries were there. The food was not flavorless just missing something.

Thai Basil uses the fast food method, meaning all of the meat is precooked and they add it to sauce thats been heated with fresh vegetables. Real Thai takes time.

Don't think we'll be going back anytime soon.

We tried Thai Basil based on the reviews here, actually. Best move I made all night! The food is great, the portions are huge, and the value is astounding. We tried the Thai egg rolls to start, then the Thai Basil Chicken and Drunken Noodles. We really could have shared as we took half of it home. Our waitress was also extremely nice and helpful with her service and recommentaitons. A must see if you're in the area. I'm gonna go there next week to try the Sesame Chicken

Thai Basil not only has really great food, but they give you enough to feed a small country! Their portions are huge, well-presented, and delicious. Try the Sesame Scallops - my favorite. The service is great and so is the atmosphere. I have never experienced much noise there, and I have always been seated quickly. Actually, there ARE booths, and the restaurant does have a good ambience. Unusual perfection for a small, inexpensive restaurant!

Very good Thai food. Ambience, marginal. Very small venue, open tables, no booths.

Started with the Thai egg rolls. Comes with a curry peanut sauce. Excellent! I finished with the Drunken Noodles w tofu. I wanted more at the end, even though I had to take home leftovers. Generous portions.

Good beer list. They also serve wine and Momokawa saki chilled (my fave).

Definitely a place worth going to again!
